Second of all, even if I didn't know, what's your point? It's objectively true that dedicating an entire salary to someone who possesses a skill most of your office already has to marginally improve a product that barely gets any views and hence barely makes them any money while your company is already bleeding millions of dollars is bad business. In fact, it's this very reason that Barstool is hemorrhaging money in the first place! Spending money on people who's added value is far less than what they're paid. Monetizing the layoffs as content is a smart move. You turn something negative into a positive, or, at least, you make something shitty less-shitty.
It’s also a symbolic gesture and an important lesson. Content is king. You can’t lose $1MM/month and expect to have a job when the entire company is at risk. You need to turn a profit. You need to see the opportunities and capitalize on them. Back to basics.

I worked for a media company for 10 years, I was also one of the "good ones" and ones that helped that company make it to the top. I was the author of a project that still makes them money, and still got layed of in a similar situation. So cool of Dave to stay loyal to his old school guys. Now I work for their competition and I am back on the top. I enjoy every day looking back at those assholes strugling while I'm still the top dog. Fuck them!!! This felt so good. 😂

Matt Fitzgerald seems like the nicest dude ever. He 100% got fucked by being remote and not known around the office. WAY better at his job than so many other Barstool employees.
