I have to confess something: I saw Pantera live in the 90s, and their show was fairly simple. And now, based on the videos I have been able to watch from their current world tour, it's amazing the progress they have made concerning the show production per se, but I have to tell you, the performance of the members of the band, including the Abbott brothers, was actually mind-blowing! And I'm not forgetting the way the instruments used to sound; that was something else, honestly speaking.
So interesting what M Shadows said about the tribute shows. Basically he said no disrespect to dime and vinnie but a band can basically sound the same with the same singer
Ehh, it helps, drums are drums and are gonna sound similar no matter who plays them, and I'm sure they could've found a dime clone to go note for note, but I like what they've done here, they've tuned down a few songs to fit Phil's current voice and it sounds fantastic.

Wylde needs to quit cheating on the solo by using a slide. That was a poor substitute for one of dime’s most innovative pieces. Zak, u accepted this job so quit half assing it. Turn the brilliance, treble, & gain up. Do your homework & give us the squeals, squalks, & epic runs that make Dime one of the ultimate 6-string innovators ever born to this planet.
i agree with ya, its more zakks tone than anything, at least he finally got rid of the chorus effect. unfortunately, zakk will never be able to duplicate dimes squeals. Dime was the master.

He's still contractually obligated to use EMGs and some of his pedals. I dont think he could replicate dimes tone because of that. EMGs just don't cut like Dimebuckers do. I have a set of each and the Dimebucker is so much crunchier and bright, while my emgs are thick. Each have their place and are capable, but I just don't think you'll ever find dimes tone in a pair of emgs.
Maybe you should consider discussing all this bullshit of yours in person, IF you have the guts. I'm pretty sure he is going to be nice and hear all you have to say and let you know his thoughts. Please post back to know what he said, especially if he sends you straight to hell.
Makes me sad. Not a bad performance but nothing close to the same. He kinda beefed on the solo and the ending riff (throes) he just didn’t hit it like Dime did but it’s my favorite riff of all time so maybe I’m bias. He did hit those pinches in the pre chorus damn good though

those squeals are made by effect, and that effect is controlled by guitar tech on backstage. That tech is same guy (Grady Champion) who was with Dime, so its as good as it can be.
