I love this. I lowered my Blood pressure by 20 simply by watching this video and calming myself. I walk with my dog as well and it is such a joy. We have vacationed in Piseco NY for many years and I have hiked the sections from Whitehouse to West Canada Lakes. But I thought my days of overnight backpacking were over. I've lost 50 lbs since Feb and am shooting for another 20 - 30. NLP trail had been on my bucket list but thought age and health had ruled it out. This summer I discovered I could do challenging (Rated Hard in All Trails) day hikes again. If my back will tolerate a backpack I may be able to put NLP back on the bucket list..
It’s a beautiful trail even though I know it can get very wet and grueling! I’ll be doing Long Lake to Lake Placid in the fall and I can’t wait. Thanks for making this. Those are some great memories you made.😊
Loved "I guess you could say this video has more of my favorite parts instead. I had hoped this video would tell more of a story. But I suppose in its own way it does. A story of 3 friends and their dogs walking around the remote wilderness of the Adirondacks with 40lb packs on. ♥" Cool if you do the worst of video but I am glad you did this one. I have favorited it as a pick me up.
brought me back to 1998 when I did the trail. I did it solo, yet on second day, I met a family of 4 and a dog. We hiked together for2-3 days before a friend of mine caught up with me at Lake Durrant. Tirrel pond has got to me my favorite place...the beach was superb. Hope to go back and do it again in the fall. I looks like you were doing it in Late Sept. Your dog looks like he had fun, yet tiring for him too.. cheers. You should try the Cranberry Lake 50. I just did that last summer.
Congratulations on your NPT tru hike, it's a great accomplishment ,I know it's not easy, you did a great job with the video and your dog seemed to be extremely happy, well done
Incredible hike. Masterful video and storytelling! As a long hiker for years, I follow hundreds of hikers and watch a couple thousand videos per year. I have to say you have produced a superb total package. In the likes of many of the best. Ie.- Elane Osborne, and one other just released PCT Video titled “Just passing through.” I forgot the girls name but I will look it up and come back and comment. Thanks for sharing. Happy Trails
Great video! We try to through hike in early August but due to timing and a stupid planning error we had to skip the Piseco to blue Mountain Lake, Thanks for the ride Bob. You captured the trail wonderfully making me want to do it again
I love the video. We did this trail end to end back more than 50 years ago at the tail end of Hurricane Agnes. Rain and black flies and in the 30's and 40's (degrees). Recently started and completed the 46 in our mid 60's. We were numbers 59 and 60 for the Northville-Lake Placid Trail.
Great video! Thor and I have yet to do a longer overnight backpacking trip though it is on our to-do list. Wylder looks like he had the time of his life out there!
Awesome video!! I think I fell in love with Wylder while watching. I was going to ask if that was the Ruffwear pad on top of his pack but I see you already mentioned that. I’m planning to section hike the NPT this summer and get ready to do the full trail during the winter!! Was just looking to upgrade my buddy Koby’s sleep system a bit. Looking forward to more videos from you guys and maybe we will see you up there lol. Happy Trails
I absolutely loved this video Rachel! It was so nice to be able to have your doggies along on this trip!! I loved the time Wylder was eyeing the Loon at Spruce Lake and also after your tough hike out of Cedar Lakes he took the time to roll around in the stones like to say "we got this Mom" . You obviously lost your friends after the Spruce Lake lean-to?? I was wondering how Wylder was going to handle the Cold River bridge. You 2 are amazing! Cold River is such an amazing place! Someday I hope to visit all of those sections of the NPT, just not all at once. New fan here!
I see your pups carried their own blanket? The grey folded thing? How did you keep it dry while they were in the water? I have a bermeise/collie mix and he swims everywhere, my aussie/collie mix swims in puddles or anything larger. He is accustomed to the back pack but the blanket scares me with the trail conditions.
It was the ruffwear highlands dog bed pad. He always managed to keep it dry I didn't let him actually swim with it on so his pack wouldn't get water logged down and so that wouldn't get wet. On the rainy days I would attach it to my pack under my pack rain cover.
31:14 - wonderful shot - that's pretty much the imagery I play in my mind to go to my happy place. Thank you for taking us on your adventure.
Excellent combination of videography, music, and dialog. Captures the essence of the Adirondacks.

I appreciate you watching it!
Awesome video!! Y’all start early!!
Dogs are cute
Dose the Ntp intersect with the North Country trail? Thanks! great video!
Yes it does! Unfortunately, it only shares part of it for a mile or so.

What time of year is this?
We started Sept 24th and finished October 2nd
Skimming through this, it seems like we're looking at a dog's butt most of the time.
Hardly. Lovely footage and editing!
Open your eyes, smarty.
