Ayy so excited for this I just started and was trying to learn what I could from your content but it was a bit too far progressed for me. Just started a week ago. Thanks for the content
I just bought this game on sale. I haven't been this hyped for a game since I found out about cyberpunk 2077. Good news is, I got this baby installed! It seems like this game is played by few, but loved by all who play. I'm looking for a good dungeon-crawley, roguelite, charmingly pixelated, isometric, time sink and I hope I've found it. Sometimes gems are so buried by other titles that you can't see their shine from the top. I think I'm gonna love this game.
Hope you always checked out the OG Hammerwatch from 2013. Still awesome and worth playing! And HW2 will release later this year, as well as a revamp of the OG one, with a third campaign and some changes to the gameplay mechanics, which is why you still should play the original one. If you wanna save money, wait for the Summer Sale, it will be less than 2 bucks then, an absolute no-brainer, if you ask me. BTW both of them are not roguelites. OG Hammerwatch plays very similar to Heroes, but puts you into hand crafted campaigns with no "loot, die, rinse, repeat" meachanics. HW2 will be an open world RPG with the respective game elements added. I'm more hyped for that than for anything else to be fair... may change soon depending on what'll be announced at the Meta Gaming Showcase, but I guess no other pancake game could get me any more hyped than HW2 currently, unless it'd be an MLP G4 RPG.
I started recently with the sorcerer, it works well as a first character. I focused on his autoattack, the bounces make it very good for killing enemies safely from a corner, killing all bats easily by shooting at a wall and letting it bounce to hit all the bats. While when I tried the ranger, I thought it was much weaker, you need a long straight line if you want to hit many enemies and you're in trouble if you start a floor with enemies very close.
@@horrido666 I tried that, but sometimes, when I was entering rooms with the archer, it's full of mobs and they block the path, so I right click, but sometimes they survive it, I can't move and die instantly. While with the sorcerer I had a slower but safer gameplay : pulling enemies and kiting back. when there are too many of them, I shoot from a corner and freeze the ones that get close. Maybe it depends on the gamestyle of the player, but that's why sorcerer felt easier for the very early game for me.
As somepone who just recently started playing this (after absolutely enjoying the original back in 2013 a LOT), this is just what I need. No NG69 guides, I'm too far from that still. Real basics from the get go. 0:20 Noticed that. Currently I have around 20 hours on record and I started with a Paladin, because it was the easiest class to begin with in the OG Hammerwatch. And I immediately found myself in some equivalent of Dark Souls NG already, mainly due to the class changes the devs made. No more blocking mêlée, a waaaaaay lower attack frequency (but at least higher base damage, 16dmg instead of just 9) made it a lot harder to survive while at the same time you have be at knife's edge distance to inflict damage at all. Had to relearn slashing occasionally while backstepping for this, but I literally dumped probably around 6-7 hours without ever reaching floor 3. Then I started a Ranger, which I first beat the OG game with. Also, noticed some changes at least in the skillset (where are my darn bombs that I used to kill spawners with?), but it literally was like going from the complete and utter struggle of learning how to hover taxi a helicopter in DCS in pancake mode to the relative breeze it is when you do it in VR instead. Gotten stuff for the very first upgrades much easier that way and went back to the paladin, now with the heal skill, which makes things a LOT easier with that class. And with that, I managed to beat the first boss after a total of like 12, maybe 13 hours (I let the game just run in background a lot while researching and also abused it to remote onto my Steam Deck with Steam Remote Play, so I ended up with somewhere around 20-21h logged currently). But with all that said: The game grew on me and I'm totally willing to keep it going, even though I prefer the hand made campaigns of the OG game and I'm looking forward to HW2 since it will be an open world RPG with a lot of gameplay additions to make it that. It can only be awesome... 1:26 "And you unlock them by going to the outhouse" _~Bweeks, 2020_ 3:57 Traps 'n' Treasures! 4:25 Looks like the first run of someone who never played this before... XD 5:21 I made the mistake not to do that in my first run and lost the ore, ofc :D 6:00 Phew! 6:58 I still keep eating dmg at that trap type... 10:46 Those things were nastier in the OG game... you basically had to keep moving in its vicinity as the spike would always pop though the ground right where you just have been inastead of multiple of those shooting in a straight line towards you. 11:54 LOL why did you stop on the spikes two times in a row? XD 12:31 It took me waaay too long to realize those upgrades are permanent. Didn't want to dump hundreds of gold each run... I literally beat the first boss without a single of those upgrades. 13:56 The stuttering tho! 14:45 Again, tanking XD 15:30 Here the Paladin shines early on, being able to block off the arrows :) 21:18 Literally the first time I see that guy, haven't met him yet in my own playtime XD 22:45 Never had that either... 29:58 Yay 30:28 OG Hammerwatch flashbacks! Awesome soundtrack as well as crates and barrels to crack open! :D
I also started on a new profile like a week ago and finished the game in 2 days. The first time I was playing the game it took me like a week. I think it was worth it but I was doing it with the warlock. If you will kill last boss with max 2nd tier blessings then I will leave you a like cuz I sub already. 😀
If you set in the graphics options "FULLSCREEN" to "YES" and change to a low resolution it will 'zoom out'. Best resolutions are 1366x768 or 1360x768 for widescreen so you won't have black side borders. That is, if you have a Full HD Screen, if you have a higher resolution screen you might have to go lower. Not too much of a quality loss since the game has a pixelart low resolution style. Hope it works for you.
This might also help: - pull up the console by hitting ~ or whatever is left of your 1 and above the tab key. - enter: v_forced_aspect_ratio 1.78 - see if it did something, if it did, enter this to make the change permanent: save v_forced_aspect_ratio 1.78 - if you want to reset to default, enter: v_forced_aspect_ratio 0 - hit ~ again to close the console You might try different values, it's basically just 16:9 calculated, other values might be better depending on your particular screen aspect ratio.

thank you bweeks for all your content for heroes of hammerwatch!
loving the new series! looking forward to following along and re-experiencing the early game with you

Ranger is by far the easiest newb class. Bounce is nice, but to clean out rooms fast just charge in and start spamming left trigger with the ranger.

7:20 Isn't the first boss a construct? That bonus is very welcome.
Indeed he is. Also the various monster spawners are constructs.

Oh man that first run was painful to watch.
Edit: The second one was too...
how do you turn on that line off the cursor?
There is an option for "aim guide" in the settings you will want to turn on
How does he see so much of the map?
