Wow I forgot what a superb singer, Lulu, was. Strangely when I used to live in the East End of Glasgow in the late 1970s and 1980s some of my very good friends did not a good word to say about her. They considered her a 'sell out' for losing her accent. We were young at the time I suppose and immature ideas fade. She is simply fantastic to hear and to look at.

This performance wasn’t on Top of the Pops. It was Lulu’s own Saturday night variety show, just called ‘Lulu’, early in 1975. The Man with the Golden Gun was in cinemas at the same time, and Lulu’s title song was also used as the titles song for the ‘Lulu’ series.
It always makes me smile that John Barry felt this was the least of his accomplishments with Bond because it had to be done fast. And yet Barry on a bad day wipes the floor with anybody who’s been since.
It’s always very impressive to see a singer who can make a song sound better live than in the recording.
