He said at 1:59 that you should do some fast pulls through stage 1 to finish. That is wrong. You want to do your fast pulls at the end through stage 3. I've got the instructions right here in front of me. Don't go back through stage 1 after you've gone to stage 3. He probably got confused because the instructions say to use "about 1 second" pulls on stage 3.
Thanks. I lost my instructions. That said, this sharpener is very forgiving. I just pull it through twice on each side for each stage. Takes me about 90 seconds per knife. Way better than a whetstone for the average novice because it's so fast and you don't have to concentrate.
@@Dadsthatcook it would be nice to see how sharp it would be if you did the last step correctly. I'm betting running it through #1 messed up the blade pretty good even if it did work okay afterwards. please do another review of it, Thanks!
My wife and I got this thing today. I sharpened a few of our Shun knives after reading the instructions for sharpening Japanese knives. It works really well and is much faster than using a whetstone :D
My employer gave me a $500 gift certificate to Amazon. I bought one of these, as well as some other kitchen gadgets. This knife sharpener is absolutely incredible!!!! I am an amateur chef, and have a decent collection of knives. For years I used either a professional sharpener, or a whetstone. However, this dances circles around everything. The knives come out scary razor sharp......
Very nice review, I'll check out some of your other vids for sure. One correction, though, you are supposed to do the last couple of fast pulls in station 3, still, not back in station 1. See top of page 7 in the manual. Still worked well for you!
You’re the chef. (I’m not) However I’ve known a couple of people who cut themselves badly by cutting an avocado in their hands like that. Be careful. Cool vid
True.. peeps need to be careful cutting up an avocado... but this is the easies way to do it! You don't have to be a chef for this method.. FYI I'm not a professionally trained chef... just a Dad that has cooked a ton of food!

True that Thom... Good catch! Still worked out well even if I didn't do it exactly like the manual said. Cheers Jason
@@Dadsthatcook I got mine off Ebay for 99 dollars with free shipping. Thanks for the video.

About to use mine for the 1st time. Do i hold the blade straight up and down or lean it to the angled side of the sharpener?
Let it guide the knife!!
Are you supposed apply downward pressure? I'm cutting into the plastic on the slits.
No... just slide the knife through and let it guide you.

BBB will price match things sold by Amazon.
That's awesome!!!
Obviously you didn't read the manual. The last fast passes should be done through the stage 3!!!
You aren't the only one that has caught this... I did miss a step, however this sharpener works great!
Clearly he did not read the instruction.
LOL... I made a couple mistakes but the sharpener works really well!
120$?? now it costs almost 300€
Seems like prices went up a bit since I made this video.... Still a good product tho!
@@Dadsthatcook I managed to find one at 180€. Does a very very nice job indeed.
