Iv'e finally pinpointed why I enjoy your style so much. It reminds me of Adrian Smiths and Karl Kopinskis artwors from old codexes and rulebooks. What they did on canvases and paper you do on minis. That classic oil painting feel is amazing!
Your a really good painter but more so to me your a good teacher ! I understand what you are saying as I see what you are doing. Your the first guy that Iv seen stipple Death Guard and it looks sic ! Good job man. Thanks so much.
Richard I have to say I've only just come across your stuff now but have probably watched nearly every tutorial on one element of miniature painting or another on RUclips and your tutorials so far are amazing super easy to follow really well explained at just the right pace so keep on keep'in on brother...brilliant work!
You have mentioned your armies before, would you like to show it to us? I would love to see your collection specially when you are the one painting the minis
Just in time for me to start my DG pile of shame. Thanks for the inspiration. Definitely motivating. Will try some of these techniques. Cheers! Can't wait for the next video
I noticed in the beginning of this video there are 3 paints on the pallet being used. What colors are being used? Balor Brown and Morghast are named, what is the other color used on the pallet. IT isn't named. I am guessing it is Rhinox Hide?
I've done two attempts to replicate the armour stippling, about to start the third. I just want to ask to make sure, are the first two colors you're applying Balor Brown and Morghast Bone like you say in the video? The colors look different and much darker in the video than in real life, and I'm not quite managing to get the same effect using them. Is there a chance the first color layer is Mournfang Brown and the second layer is Balor Brown?
Really love this affect, I am intrigued as to what you do with all the areas still black, is this just done as a demonstration and only meant to be viewed from the front?
That stippling effect looks a lot simpler than the final result made me think it would be. I'm sure my first attempt would still be a soupy mess though.
That's been the most interesting part of these new videos - I'm surprised how many simple techniques he uses, and how effective they end up being with a few tweaks. It's super impressive and really encouraging to watch
What magician did you use to transform a brown color into a green color in the model? That got me curious. The armor looks green to me, but you never used green color on it. Loved the stippling btw.
It's the yellow in the brown. It's a translucent layer so the black shows through a little which alters the look of the yellow in the paint to a dirty yellow/green colour.
"Slightly higher tabletop standard"
Creates a masterpiece
pretty much this
'Slight higher tabletop standard... the metal is going to be painted as NMM.' 😉
This model is ready for Golden Demon. Honestly I think its the closest to a grimdark mini I have ever seen.

Very well put :)
Thank you :D was trying to place what it reminded me of.

Slightly annoyed you only have 10k subs. Hands down one of the best painters in the world thanks for giving up the time to do a RUclips Channel!
Honestly I love this channel. Reminds me of Darren Latham. Thanks Richard
I've never seen this basecoat stippling method and i'm really impressed. Looking forward to practicing it!

This is such a great tutorial, thank you so much much for taking the time to elaborate!
I love these videos. You've got a really satisfying style of painting to watch and the voice over is really calm and informative
Awesome job..
You how ever do not need to "apologize" for time spent. To qoute Angel Giraldez "It's your/hobby it's ok to it takes time" 🙂
Really really beautiful style. The end result is so pleasing!
If I trusted anyone to paint my miniatures, it would only be you bro!
Love this technique. I wish I didn't already paint my Death Guard!
Wonderful style and crystal clear instructions.
I’m so grateful for this video. Your style has inspired me, and the quality is something lofty to aspire to. Subbed, and eagerly awaiting more videos.
I must try your stippling method of painting sometime, looks great!
Wow this is crazy good and so effective for DG
New to the channel, now watching every video. Holy shit, you're great!
Thanks Rich!
nice work as always Rich!
27:47 Thought it was just the 2D art for a thumbnail but well done.
This is simply amazing
Just keep a couple droppers of water close by to wet your palette, top it up

Lovely tutorial, thank you so much.
May I ask when is part 2 coming? I just can't wait!
I love it!!
Do you have a recommendation on a skin recipe to go with these scheme? Colors are hard. 😂

I had the exact same problem, my guys were coming out way too bright looking and less green. More yellow
What brush is he using?
Any updates? I tried with the first two Color’s and came out brown not green at all
Great video, do you have on patreon any video about painting/speed painting black armor? Ty!
I am curious. Is it possible to use this dab technique on any colour or not like paint any colour you want ???🤔
Would a new Drybrush be less affective? Being that an older one could put more dots on the model?
love the grimdark weathering, the contrast on this model is great. any plans on going back to Cursed City?
Any particular brand for great stippling brushes?
Really love this affect, I am intrigued as to what you do with all the areas still black, is this just done as a demonstration and only meant to be viewed from the front?
I tried this and the first color ended up just looking brown not green even after many coats
Yea me too. Why is his balor brown green

Tbf soupy mess would be lore accurate 🤓
Would it be better starting with a dark brown priming?
I dont know how yours turn out this green ive tryed maybe 5 minis now.. all turn out more sand coloured...🥺
what brush are you using?
Tried this and first Color came out brown? Not green at all? Any tips?
WE NEED MOAR DOTS

It's because he's using a yellowish-brown color. Yellow over black gives a green. And it's an amazing technique lol
How do you get the green tone? I tried but it s brown! Thank you
Same here !
Wow, how to paint death guard indeed
Why does it look green when using brown ?
It's the yellow in the brown. It's a translucent layer so the black shows through a little which alters the look of the yellow in the paint to a dirty yellow/green colour.
Fucking hell, the shot at the end looks like a flat canvas painting.
Interesting how he looks greenish but nothing on the palette really looks green.
😯😵😯😵😯
tried and it doesn't work the same as for you, the colours sediment in a different way.
Tried it also and came out brown?
: )
When you say Copper, I think Bronze..
Hey Richard, I'm going to use this method for my tanks. Did you have a Instagram or TikTok so I can show you the results
