9:52 My hotel was situated just in the other side of those buildings🙌🏽. I love these parts of Rio where you don’t have hardly any foreign tourists, they are by far my favorite and the reason I rarely stay in Copacabana.

Oh Rio ❤! Prainha is very special, limited parking there too. I lived in Rio for 10 years and took my visitors there because the beach is beautiful but the drive is even more beautiful. Guaratiba is cool, there’s a seafood restaurant called Bira with a beautiful view and lots of monkey visits. The military area across the way I’ve been to those beaches. My cunhada works for the exército. Beautiful and clean uncrowded beaches. I really wonder which mountain areas you’ll visit? Petrópolis, Itaipava, Teresópolis, OR the Itatiaia region, like Penedo, Visconde de Mauá, and the huge national parque. Can’t wait to see. Happy and safe travels! ❤

Prainha is my favorite beach around Rio. I started going to Prainha back in 2001 until my last visit to Rio in 2017.
I never been on the beach so crowded as in your video.
I'm Malaysian American and live and teach in KL. I love Rio and the whole Bossa movement, Ipanema and Copacabana stories. These beaches are unknown to me. Thank you for showing us. They're really beautifu. As you know Malaysia has beautiful beaches too but Rio is special.l The home of Tom Jobim, Astrud Gilberto and many more .

Another great video, you two are my favorite travel vloggers. Always enjoy the scenery esp when you’re using your drone. I agree with you that the perception of violence in Rio is exaggerated, just need to be smart when out and about, leave your bling at the hotel. my rule of thumb is I only take with me what I can afford to lose, but 10+ years of traveling to Rio I’ve never had a problem 🤞🏻. just be smart like in other big cities, even ones in the US.

My fellow gringos just watch too many movies and tv shows and don’t put enough spin on their passport so they just think they know things when in fact they sound ignorant as hell most of the time. Rio is like every other big city I’ve been to in the world and if you look for trouble you will surely find it but if you have some street smarts and awareness you will be completely fine.

Agree that Prainha and Grumari are the best beaches in the Rio de Janeiro metro area. The Restaurante Mirante is a classic spot that we've visited often. They also make great pasteis! Pedra Telegrapho IMHO isn't worth the time to drive down there. It's mostly self absorbed people angling for selfies. It is the 2nd most beautiful place on earth for me. First is Manhattan, New York, third is Istanbul, Turkey! Cebuano here and now I'm heading to Salvador de Bahia, from Congonhas Airport in Sau Paulo. Been to Rio before and I loved it so much. Following your footsteps yo!😅

We were in Brazil in February for carnival. We stayed at the the Windsor Hotel in Barra Da Tujica. We had an amazing time! ❤ The only issue is I was shocked that majority of the Brazilians don’t speak English. By watching your videos, silly me thought that Brazilians speak English just like Carol. But a local explained why only 1-5% of Brazilians speak English.
I'm planning on going this February. Thinking might go a few weeks before Carnival. Herd there are still bloc parties a few weeks prior. I did Colombia last year excited for Brazil😊

Yes and the ones that speak English usually don’t work in the jobs where you might meet people as a tourist. For example the majority of taxi drivers, workers in restaurants and vendors won’t speak English. Even some people at hotels might not speak English.
If you visit a country, you should know at least a few words in the local language. Or in the United States, people speak the tourist language, Portuguese, Spanish and others?
@@BmacT , please go to a bloco party. It is super fun, but be don’t go into the crowd. Many tourists have gotten robbed. I went to a bloco party in Lapa. It was fun. Also do not accept drinks from strangers. Enjoy!

Awesome video. Lived in Rio many years ago and I'm planning a trip back thanks to your videos. I learned to surf in Prainha and used to go to Itacuruçá every weekend to boat. Love all your videos but the ones from Rio are specially dear to me. Obrigado.
miss Brazil. can't wait to return. if you guys go back to Bahia, try to get to Itacare this time. My family and I live there sometimes. It's so nice. In terms of crime in Rio though, I mistakenly (lol) spoke English on accident at 11 am walking in Botofogo last Summer and my phone was lifted out of my purse in a split second. I literally just had it in my hand less than 1 minute prior. Petty crime is kind of crazy there.
We actually went there 2 years ago but ended up not filming because the weather wasn't so great. Bahia has an amazing beach vibe in that area :D
