Nave, I like your braces! I didn't get mine until I was 46. My only regret is not getting them sooner. I love watching all of the improvements on the farm and the teamwork.
The bed is on the wrong side of the room. You will want to look out the window, rather than look at the wall when you lie in bed. It's also colder by the external wall. From an architect.
I had a vet out to put an old dog down. Don’t know it’s age, someone abandoned it at my place. The vet commented “these barn dogs just seem to live the longest lives, mainly because they spend their lives free, doing what dogs were meant to do”.
I'm going to miss seeing Brownie around when he goes home. He seems to love Cole. Beautiful dog. It seems like there is more hay this year. Quite the hay business.
I'll add my suggestion to all the others to please plumb in a half bath on the top floor. The last thing you want is random people in your personal space, and as others mentioned, it'll get really old tromping up and down stairs to the loo, especially if you've got to eventually deal with kiddos. So glad you've got some paper plans to ponder - it'll be good to hash out most of the details before anything actually gets roughed in!
We used an International flatbed truck with several hay wagons in tow. Used a rope to tie the steering wheel so it would go straight, put it in low-low (creeper gear) and as it idle along between rows of bails jump out and pick them up as we walked along. Another person stacked while one or two would throw them up to the stacker. At the end of the field turn it around and did it all over again. This was back in the 1950-60s. Hard work but we loved doing it. Reliving the old days through your channel!

Brings back memories of when I worked in a horse stable, we called it "bucking" hay. You need to get some hooks, makes it super easy lifting the square bales.
Cole, I remember many summers bucking tons of hay bales when I was your age. Of course that was 50 years ago but it's nice to see that some things are still done "the old fashioned way".
Hello to ALL the Corn 🌽 Star Family , from the Paint 🎨 Stars Family from Myrtle Beach South Carolina !!!!! P.S. Cole , I can definitely see you getting a dog of your own in the very near future .
I suggest having a separate enclosed toilet room inside the bathroom. When we did a remodel on our bathroom we enclosed the toilet in it's own little room with it's own ventilator fan because our laundry happens to be in that bathroom, so you never have to worry about someone walking in on you to change the laundry while you are indisposed, and if you happen to be using the bathtub/shower you won't get the odor from someone using the toilet at the same time. Especially since you intend to have more than one entrance into the bathroom area, ensuring privacy for the toilet area will be worth it's weight in gold. Put the little toilet room right across from the base of the steps to the attic for easy access as well as privacy. You also might want to consider swapping the bathroom area out so that the bathroom necessities are on the end wall and have his/her closets in between the bedroom and bathroom for better access from both sides. It also makes using the toilet at night a little quieter in the bedroom in case someone is sleeping at the time. That way you can also have an open floor plan between the bedroom and closet area without any need for a doorway yet still maintaining bathroom privacy.
You may consider putting electrical outlets in the ceiling of the porch for Christmas lights. Not sure how bugs are in your area. In some parts of the country, ceiling fans are used to keep bugs away. Water outlets are great for clean up the porch and watering flowers.
Cole, I don’t think you forget much, right? What I would give for the family you all have 😊know there are flaws but wow how much fun working with people that have your back….. great job Corn Stars!!!!
I used to weigh less than 125lbs and used to swing square bales up into a trailer out in the field all day. It was mighty hard work but it was all about logistics. Every summer.
Plumbing being closer to the center of the house cs exterior walls helps prevent freezing pipes and means less opening in walls on the outside that are drafty
When I was a kid, and I mean 8 yrs old, I used to ride on the wagon while my brothers worked the hay coming off the kick-baler, and I remember getting hit by a bale. OMG.
Was thinking the same thing. Give that upstairs room its own bathroom. Nobody should have access to the Primary bath outside of the primary room occupants.
Or just keep a 3/4 bath on the 2nd floor. I laugh at the half baths you see in some condos that are under the stairs in the living room. Don't mind me, I will just be behind this door taking a dump 6 feet from where you're watching television.
I kind of had some flashbacks of when I was a kid (14) growing up on a small farm in Washington state. If it broke down it was up to me to figure out why (My dad traveled for his job and was gone weekdays and when you had to bale it just had to be done), pulling the broken baler onto our nicely manicured back lawn where the coolness of the grass beat out the hot 99 degree day while crawling underneath to figure out why the hay wasn't feeding through properly. Cutting hay/baling for our own feed and doing it for others around the area. We had a wire square baler pulled by a small Oliver tractor. (I believe it was a New Holland for the baler and we had a Heston 3 wheeled swather which my dad never let me drive it as it was so unstable.) Learned so much as a kid doing that type of work at such a young age.
I'm a builder from the UK and Cole I would recommend you put the bathroom on an external wall, I'm not sure how drainage works, but here soil pipes are run on the outside of buildings, also windows allow for ventilation and natural light which is much better if you're doing anything.
You talked of wiring the new porch and adding a fan in the 3 season area. May I suggest you place s couple more some where you may be sitting. Not for cooling, but the moving of fan air keeps the bus away and makes sitting on the porch in the evening much more enjoyable.
A bathroom that big, you should consider a WC concept. Put the stool in its own little room with a door. You can be in the little room and not be bothered by anyone in the rest of the bathroom. It really works well.
Hey Cole,.....will your new grain bins have a "Fall Arrest" system in it for grain bin work and/or rescues if needed? Like some heavy duty anchor points for hooking up "Fall Protection" equipment? And some special curved portable walls to shield around the person you are digging out, and small portable grating to walk on, so a person doesn't sink into the grain? (think snow shoes). And small buckets and/or portable auger (battery drill operated) to remove grain from around the person being rescued? Check to see if your local Fire Department is set up for grain bin rescues, and if they have any advice on things you could have to cut down on Rescue time.
Picking up square bales was a ritual of my childhood. As the youngest I was either driving the tractor or stacking on the flatbed. Got pretty tall on the stack. I remember getting tiny hap splinters in my firearms. Ow they stung and itched.

Happy to see everything looks good with farming cause I'm scared what's going on in California do to drought ..i live AZ so scared were running out of water.. everything looks normal
I always find it interesting to compare the chemistries you use and their manufacturers to what's used here in Australia! Mesotrione in resicore has just been commercialized here as a stand alone product and looks pretty handy! 🇦🇺
I'm glad you're keeping an eye on the floor plans that they are working on for your master bedroom. Maybe you should put a half bath up in the attic studio that way nobody would be wandering through your private bathroom. After all, it's only money, right ?
My sister built her own house, and as an interior designer, she had hundreds of plans, sometimes such minute changes, if she did not point them out, we did not know. Just remember to put in plenty of sockets, and at a height where you can reach them easily. Yes, you want the plug for your bedside lamp hidden, but if you charge your phone on your bedside table, make it so the plug hits the socket freely.
Nave trying to pull that bar down Cole and Brownie and the bathroom discussion. Lots of laughs in this video. Loved it. Cole you and Brownie are becoming such good buddies. She might not want to go home. She will want to become a permanent Corn Dog.❤❤😊😊
pro tip: ALWAYS shut the windows when AC is on, otherwise the cool air mixes with the hot air from outside and youre basically cooling the Outside (entropy aside)
When using an inline hay trailer, if you park the truck perpendicular to the trailer the stress of loading and pushing are absorbed by the truck’s hitch and frame not the driveline. 2¢ As always I am entertained by your family’s’ lively personalities. Best
We had a "chute" on our square baler. It pushed the bales in a close line up onto the flat rack. From there, 1 or 2 people on the rack stacked them, from back to front, until the rack was filled as high as the vertical rack back. Bales were laid criss-cross, alternately in each row to help prevent the stacks from toppling off the rack. The large door on the center of the 2nd story of a barn was to enable loading the bales from the rack into the barn. The peak of the door is lowered outward by a rope and a pulley. Early on, we used a pulley and rope attached to the hitch of a tractor. A claw would grab 8-10 bales and lift them up using the 'loose hay trolley' that was in most barns at the time balers came out. One person to rig the bales on the hay rack to the claw/lift, and one in the loft to unrig and stack them when they get there. Later on, we used a grain/hay elevator. Two people unloaded them from the flat rack onto the elevator. When the bales came off the elevator in the loft, others would stack them. Inevitably some bales would break. Those hunks of hay were kept at the front of the stacks, to be used up first.
Love your videoes love how y'all work as a family... I've only been watching your channel for only 6 months but I subscribed instantly. Thanks for all the great content.. Brownies so stinkin cute...
Re the master bedroom plans ... how about having two bathrooms? One with just wc for anyone coming down from The man cave. And a second private in suite for your master bedroom. Plus the closet and a door through the back of your closet to the stairs going up ?
I picked up many of those square bales. But one man I worked for had a New Holland automatic bale wagon and that thing was the best thing ever besides air conditioning!
‘Member when your mom didn’t want to be on camera??? That was so ironic, because she is the best. Fixing dinner, driving the hay truck, next she will kick you out of the new combine!
I really enjoyed watching this video. I forsee a cornstar pup in the future. The best thing about plans on paper is they are changeable. Hi MC and Nave, you two are terrific helpers. Big thumbs up crew.
Add a half bath in the attic if you plan on spending time up there. Going downstairs will get old fast.

Just remember to put in plenty of sockets, and at a height where you can reach them easily. Yes, you want the plug for your bedside lamp hidden, but if you charge your phone on your bedside table, make it so the plug hits the socket freely.
Or install a USB ready outlet. Eliminates the charger and is a nice clean look. They work like a charm I must say.
Built and wired my house, put in more outlets and lights than you think you need. Outlets are cheap and you can downsize bulbs if it’s too bright.
Put at least one outlet in closet if it is a walk-in.
Agreed - you can never have too many outlets and much easier to add extras before the wallboard goes on.
Good video. Glad to see all of you working together to get the job done.
Nave trying to pull that bar down Cole and Brownie and the bathroom discussion. Lots of laughs in this video. Loved it. Cole you and Brownie are becoming such good buddies. She might not want to go home. She will want to become a permanent Corn Dog.❤❤😊😊
great job mom!! backing up is hard!! Love y'all so neat to see everyone working together!!
I spent every summer as a teen stacking square bales!
Yup. I learned to drive in hay fields with my brothers stacking.
I started stacking em when I was 12 by time I was 17 started running the mower Tedder and the rake and a bale trailer
That was "the" job for young men in a farming community!
One good thing about stacking bales all afternoon, you didn't need to go to the gym. That was a good way to build some muscle and get paid for it. LOL
I did it for just one summer and I never will forget all of the dust and dirt that I got all over me as it stuck to my sweaty skin hair and clothes!
pro tip: ALWAYS shut the windows when AC is on, otherwise the cool air mixes with the hot air from outside and youre basically cooling the Outside (entropy aside)
Brownie and Cole are having so much fun! He's never gonna want to leave!
Nah, he'll run with joy the instant he sees his owner.
When using an inline hay trailer, if you park the truck perpendicular to the trailer the stress of loading and pushing are absorbed by the truck’s hitch and frame not the driveline. 2¢
As always I am entertained by your family’s’ lively personalities.
You should jackknife the pickup when pushing on bales. Helps protect transmission.
I LOVE this video. Such great explanations and perspectives! Momma is a HONEY!!!
🤣🤣
So much getting done, stay safe and hydrated 😊
Mama Cornstar and Nave looking beautiful, as always! And I love the braces Nave!
You guys need to start giving that poor Oliver some love this winter!
Great video work getting done!!! That dog will never be the same.
I really enjoyed watching this video. I forsee a cornstar pup in the future. The best thing about plans on paper is they are changeable. Hi MC and Nave, you two are terrific helpers. Big thumbs up crew.
Mama cornstar is amazing love her💕💕🙏😎
WAY TO GO MOMMA CORNSTAR! smooth moves at the wheel!
My Mom used to drive the truck in the hayfield the guys in crew would call her A.J.(Foyt) because she drove too fast
With super large bathrooms, it seems to work really well to have the toilet in it's own little "room".
