They'll be perfectly fine if they ignore the strongly worded letters the get sent (cease and desist) those are bait and for people who don't understand what they legally mean. Also helps not having your server in the US and having good opsec (don't link your real life details to your online handle etc)

Imo Blizzard tries to keep the public perception of private servers to a minimum. That's why they are taking down their media, not the actual servers.

Nostalrius was shot down. Blizzard sees Turtle as a competitor to their SoD/Era servers. Personally I also unsubscribed and only play Turtle WoW as it is just the superior product. Instead of innovating I'm sure Blizzard is going to crack down on it.

Botters lost court cases for having "unauthorized copies" of WoW IN MEMORY. Literally running the code on a computer in an unauthorized way. How is Turtle WoW not going to run afoul of the same issue? I knew that unless this project was being run out of Russia or something, it was already dead...

It is being run out of east Europe. And the server itself has been around since 2018. With it becoming popular in 2020
