No bad mouthing here at all, I put some of this stuff in my girlfriends flower bed to kill the weeds after I put up a new fence between her and her back neighbor about 5 years ago and I laid it straight on the ground with no water and roofing tar paper on top. NOTHING would grow and hasn't since. I am about to do the same thing here soon in my front flower bed as you are because it has rock in it and I will mix it up and spray it in there to kill the weeds and grass growing up in it. This is a great idea and a lot cheaper than Round up or other weed killers. It does work great and kicks ass on the weeds and anything it touches. By the way, Great video and I like your Flag out front.
I get free brine everytime my water softener recharges. Just drain the discharge hose down my gravel driveway a few times in the growing season. My driveway holds most of the brine without runoff issues in my grass, dandelion and clovered up weedy lawn. Works for me. Lol I stay well away from any plants I value. Nowhere near the vegetable garden or hedges.
Hello, salty water or saline or brine as your refer to it is not enough. You need to break the surface tension of the saline water by adding in 20% or 30% vinegar, also a natural product. This increases the soil Ph [acidity] and kills plants, while the salt merely increases the salinity and kills roots and prevent seeds from germinating and building roots. There's no need to filter down the salt in water. The salt is intended to kill the roots. You can drop the salt down as salt rocks and let it slowly disintegrate by the moisture in the air during the nighttime or through rain over a period of days/weeks. Though saline salt water is more fast acting. The high salinity from salt and acidity from vinegar will keep weeds down for months if not years depending on how much you've used. Personally i dropped a entire 10 lb bag of salt on a 5 square feet area of my drive way and then watered it down with a gallon of 30% vinegar and that area has not had any growth for years now. I used roundup and various other chemicals to try to kill that patchy area, and while it killed the growing plants, new growth always returned rapidly within weeks. Natural rain will eventually move the high salinity and high acidity deeper underground or away to other plants who will take it up as nutrients and due to the lowered contents it will not harm these plants. This is a good environmentally friendly treatment you should do every year before the summer begins.
I just purchased a new rental property and the back lawn seems like it's never had maintenance. Crab grass and dandelions have taken over. If I use your method for the entire lawn will my grass grow back without the weeds if at all?
@@thelovelydrkeyx3250 The mix of vinegar, salt and some washing up liquid will kill everything. Make sure you choose a sunny period as it will be more effective. 2-3 days and it will all be dry. If safe, you can then just burn the dry bits. Yes, it will grow back eventually, depending on the strength of your mixture but without seeding, it will be patchy. Hope this helps.
salt will reverse the effects of osmosis and draw moisture out of the plants via the roots, killing them. Plants with a chance to survive will be ones that are less-dependent on a small-area network of roots to draw moisture.
Salt will kill everything. It’s also hard on concrete if you use just the salt and don’t do a mix. Animas like deer and squirrels also like the taste of the salt in the soils so consider that wherever you spread it.
Hey man, you do you!! You're doing just fine! I'm.willing to bet half.of them don't have the courage to create a channel. O came here because um curious to see if this will help kill some evasive plants in my garden. It will be interested to see if it doesn't. Fingers crossed. Hoping you had good luck! And good on your son for helping you out! Stay happy! 🙂
Thank you for taking your time trying to help us. I really loved your video. I know there are people who feel so entitled to the point where they press dislike or make unhelpful comments. I like that your video was natural and authentic. 🌹❤️
hey buddy! nice video, very thorough. you are right about roundup, ive just used a mix of salt and bleach to kill established weeds in the driveway which drains into a main road. as long as you are not using it to treat weeds in the bare earth i think we're alright no worries on the editing, you will pick it up as you go along 😊 take care, mate. joe from england
Three pints of crystal salt ( not pellets) in 5 gallons of water stir to assist add add 2 pints of vinegar ( 25%) spray at sundown or cloudy. Make sure salted area does not drain off during rain onto planted areas.Promote this method, put Monsanto out of bu sines.
I use 1 cup of rock salt, and a gallon of vinegar and let it dissolve over night. I put the solution into a sprayer with table spoon of dawn. Can this solution kill a massive old tree and younger trees?
Nice and helpful..I just wanna ask if I can use sea water instead of mixing salt and water. I Live in an island so I just thought seawater would have same effect..thanks for the answer..
Unfortunately sea water is not effective at all. Actually I use sea water on my cabbage plants to get rid of pests, it works and doesn’t hurt the plant.
I mixed 1lb of salt with 1 gallon of boiling water - added 1 tablespoon of washing up detergent , and sprayed the mixture with a spray bottle: How long will it take to effectively kill the weeds and grass, please? Is fine spraying ok?
you prolly dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother for the last few days =)
What the hell did I do wrong then ? Had a totally saturated solution and SOAKED a line of weeds around half a dozen times over the course of a week. Salt crystals were everywhere for weeks. If anything it seems like the weeds like it. I had high hopes for this to. I ain’t done trying it but so far it isn’t looking good.
With all due respect, but all those sprayers must be thrown out of the market, and buyers must be reimbursed. These products are designed for kids, pieces of a cheap plastic crap! Those who designed them must be ashamed of their products.
Just plain rude, if you stayed and listened for 20 minutes you’re a complete fool, go away you’re not saying anything we want to hear, He gave his time free to educate, however some people (like you) are a lost cause, Thanks you for your good advise, it works
The haters are often kids with nothing better to do. I used to have a relatively popular YT channel...have to get used to the hate, but also realize often times they're just ten year olds with access to their mom's puter. YT also has a word-blocking option now, so you can censor offensive words for the most part, comes in handy. I commented on your last video in this series...to sum up, this works. I just did it in dry form. Cheers. P.S. TRUMP! ;)

And its animal and human safe. Unlike round up.

This is my second season using just the salt and water with great results
@@thelovelydrkeyx3250 I'm not sure on the answer sorry.

Hey William I already got the pellets but plan on letting it break up and soak in solution for a few hrs. That will still be good correct?

I read today that sea salt doesn't work for killing weeds.
Unfortunately sea water is not effective at all. Actually I use sea water on my cabbage plants to get rid of pests, it works and doesn’t hurt the plant.
