  • I took some sample footage using the new Blackmagic Camera app on my way to work. Here are the settings I used:
    iPhone 14 Pro Max
    Apple ProRes 422
    1080p
    24mm and 77mm Lens
    Cinematic Stabilization
    No Color Grade
    MY THOUGHTS
Even without Apple’s Cinematic Mode, the camera is able to produce actual bokeh when focused on close subjects. The camera also is able to record detail in the highlights and shadows. I’m impressed with the ability to control which type of ProRes you record in as well as other settings such as camera angle and shutter. Getting exposure right on manuals settings is counter intuitive though.

Great footage! Have you figured out how to set custom white balance with a grey card?

I don’t see a way to do that. You can manually dial in color temp, use a preset temp, or use auto. That seems to be it.

There is no log option right now that I am aware of. I don’t have an iPhone 15 Pro and right now Apple seems to have locked the access to log to that model of the phone. In the past, FilmicPro created their own log profile for iPhone. I don’t expect Blackmagic to do that. It would be cool if they could add BRAW though 🤷🏼‍♂️
