Always impressed with your work ethic Maria, school and youtube wise! This rotation seemed pretty sucky but, generally speaking, do you ever feel overwhelmed before a regular (clinical) class? I'm about to have my first neurology rotation and I feel like I should master everything already :/ I know this is very unrealistic and not expected but I hate feeling stupid in front of a professor and possibly a patient as well :(
oh my goshh all the time haha 💀💀 it is a really humbling experience. you feel so stupid and like you should know everything... when obviously we're just seeds, very smol seeds starting to grow. especially if the teacher doesn't have a clear idea of what we should know, what the teaching goals are! (why it's important for both professor and patient know what year we're in and never to present yourself to be something you're not). I try to tell myself that it's okay to not know, it's okay to learn while conversing with the patient and professor, it's not a show off contest of who knows more! (which ohhh my I get so much second hand embarrassment from peers who think this way) adopting this humbling attitude is refreshing to you and the teacher, make sure to speak precisely and well, don't pretend to know when you don't know, don't be afraid to ask for help when you're asked to do something and you don't understand. sometimes we think every little thing we do is going to affect our grade but it probably won't and it's more important to retain things and that can't be done when you're at a constant fear of not seeming like The Perfect Student 💗💗 best of luck!!! positive feeling, you'll be learning a lot and make sure to study too when you get home 💀 hugs🤎

It's sad because they can choose if they want to teach or not, and they decide to accept students and make them waste their time at the hospital. Things get so intense and overwhelming for me at times that the joy and initial excitement for what I'm doing is overridden and I know for me it gets really tough to enjoy the little things that makes this time of year so cozy and lovely. It can feel even more frustrating when your school ends up not being as supportive as they say they will be, especially when you need it most! Even though it shouldn't be that way, times like this make us stronger for our patients, but most importantly for ourselves. Stay safe and well! ❤
