It is good to see someone covering this song and feel good doing it, I know when I am playing this song myself, especially in the end when he sings "We are alive", I just want to go to heaven and lay there and sing this line forever.. People say that melodic metal is awful, but my guess is that you are born into liking it, because this type of music lightens up your soul so much its not even funny, I feel like I can do anything while singing along to the chorus.. God damn.. Break the silence.

Thanks, the main reason i transposed the song higher was because both bands i work in play in Eb which means setting up the bridge to play in drop C. Bit of a ballache for a cover really and plus it doesn't sound too bad higher! I did also try transposing the song down a 4th so i could just move everything up on the strings to play on the lowest gauge but it sounded too death metal for me haha. I will do, cheers!

Yeh i did do a pitch change for this so it was possible to play on my Music man without the ache of having to re-setup the whole guitar. I do have an Epiphone les paul but it needs some work on it before i can use it again.

I guess it's how you go through the process of learning the song. Making sure you are able to isolate where you're struggling (ie Right hand, left hand, not learning the riff properly....) and making sure you focus on improving in that area before moving forward. Only thing I have to say is I play the chorus riff on 4th and 5th string with a quick slide with my pinky from fret 12 to 13 back to 12, then two picks starting the tapping descends. Sounds more like how they do it. Plus I can't pick as fast as you do.
