I just bought a concept 2 and i thought i would have to go to a rowing studio to be taught proper form, but this was excellent! You’re a wonderful instructor. You broke this down extremely well!
@@claudiacanales2662 I just made the purchase a couple days ago and already have a solid 2 hours in and feel every bit of it, WOW you get a work out, just put on a show or music and row away, I like to add a bit of difficulty the last 60 seconds or so, i row as fast and safe as possible that last 60. Super happy with my purchase and have done a lot of research on the subject the key is to use your machine!
Great and clear tips step by step. Very helpful so thank you ! I just purchased my Concept2 ERG. I am a 70 yo overweight, out of shape Deaf guy with arthritis who is unable to do many types of cardio because I have a Vestibular Balance disorder. So, hiking, walking, riding my bike don't work for me anymore. I am working on my form & technique this week, starting off slow, 10 mins twice / day. Going to start increasing each day by 1 minute / session until I can do a good solid 20 mins at decent pace. My pace now is only 20 - 24 SPM, but its only been a few days/ Thanks again for all this !
I’m a 65 year-old male. I have been using a treadmill for years. I came across an ad for a water rower and was ready to buy one. I did some more research and decided to go with the Concept2. I received it today and did my first 30 minute workout. I have never rowed before. Before I received it I googled how to use the Concept2 and found this video. Thank you so much Cassi. You made my workout a lot easier.
Got myself a Concept 2 D model about six weeks ago, so that I could do some exercise at home other than riding my bicycle on my rollers. I'm probably never going to do any actual rowing. This is just a sixty-eight-year-old man's fitness activity. This video has been quite helpful to me. I'm going to return to it time and time again, and also view the other videos in the series. Thank you!
I applaud your knowledge and teaching skills. I know nothing about rowing but I studied karate in Japan with some of the best instructors. Your style of teaching is very similar to theirs. It is specific, simple, and thorough. Anyone paying attention can learn this. Thank you.
Just joined a gym in Englewood (basically Denver area) Colorado 5 weeks ago. I'm 64, had surgery to repair meniscus tears in my knees back in 2007, so basically have limited my exercise to riding my mountain bike. I definitely know my way around a gym but, have been away for about 10 years. I noticed there are 2 Concept rowing machines in the gym and was smart enough to find you on the web explaining how to use this marvelous machine. At 6' I am about 20 pounds over weight. Combining free weight routines and rowing I have lost 2 pounds so far. Working also on my eating habits as well. When I started to row I could go for about 3 minutes. I went up to 5 minutes and now typically can row 10 minutes on setting 5. This of course is mixed in with doing various free weight exercises. I seem to be leaning to spending more time on the machine and will work towards going distances more instead of time. I'm very smooth on it and your tips have really made a difference with my efficiency and endurance. I feel really great after I finish rowing. I have noticed not many people use the machines. They do not know what they are missing. I honestly hope someone askes me about rowing there. If so I will steer them your way. Thanks Cassi!
Thank you, top explanation...!., i was going to buy tomorrow a Cross trainer....but i saw this and i am thinking about a Concept2 now....Thanks again.Best regards
Ha ha ha! I’m a complete newb & you broke things down very logically & methodically for me-I also enjoyed, “you’re going to mess this up,” which made me aware of where my hands should be prior to my knees coming up-thank you!
I really appreciate this. I have a Concept 2 in my home gym. it seemed like it would be a nice combo with my treadmill and spin bike. But I never really learned proper technique so I don't use it much. I am excited to try this out!
Do you use your feet to pull back during recovery fora 500-meter sprint or finishing a competitive 2k? Thank you for the video. I have rowed 3 million meters and your technique video will make the next 3 million better.
I'm a personal trainer and the motion looks a lot like a deadlift meets a hack squat meets a row. These must be good for lower extremities and your entire posterior chain
It's like your body must mechanically conform or adapt to the purpose of the machine and not the machine to your body and if you listen to the way she explained things, the details, it's like programming it to your brain then to your body so it will adapt to the purpose of the machine.
In my opinion, when backing, with arms outstretched, as soon as the hands pass a little more from the knees, the legs have to start to shrink and not wait as you do until the hands are almost at the height of the ankles, as you do. On the other hand, it is good to comment that the handle does not grip, it is held, with the thumbs down, without making force with the hands, so as not to pass the tension to the arms and to the back, this consumes energy.
Stumbled upon this video as was a complete beginner to rowing and got myself a nice new shiny Concept2 RowErg 🚣♂️ Great advice for any newbies out there. Clear, concise and to the point. Thanks for the content!
How important is it to keep your toes basically pinned to the footplates? i notice that it's natural to let your feet release up just a little, which changes the stroke slightly.
And yet the real power stroke at 4:16 does not quite match the earlier idealized pattern - the demonstrator's spine is already tilting back past vertical before the legs are fully extended. The three "separate" parts of the power stroke actually overlap when a rower gets going.
Started a 45 workout, no rest periods, about 30s/m at around a 5 intensity setting. Feels fine after a few weeks. Thoughts as to value of this workout? Thx

I noticed that too, she also starts pulling her arms slightly before the movement of her back is finished.
But I guess that's OK, isn't it?
Hi, new here my gym has one the wheel has numbers on it. What are they for
My seat generally touches my heels during the recovery. Is that a problem?
Very well done. THank you.
Thank you soo much
You're welcome!
I may be wrong but in my opinion the shins are supposed to be vertical at the catch
any chance of shoulder impingement? can you grasp the bar with palms facing up instead?
Never heard of this being an issue. Elbows shouldn't be coming up anywhere high enough to cause issue!
Muito Obrigado !
cause i do not have body stability paralized can you mount a seat on the sit
I am the best rower in my gym
I just set mine up today and tried it out for 3 minutes. I dont feel much burn in my legs, mainly upper body. Is there any resistance on the seat
Thank you, you r a great teacher.
I am in love with her. Simmer down. Im not a simp. I just...well she is awesome.
Clear instructions!
Really good explanation, but my gosh I struggle not to bend the knees too early on the return...
Do you burn alot of fat doing this
I saw jim carey say your arms should go DOWN when you head towards recovery position
Heels up or down ??? Thanks
Shame their website does not work. It is a broken link.
Great explanation, Cassi. Is there other position if I want to lose weight and belly?
Thanks ^^
Me encanta
Where to buy it? Not available anywhere other than Amazon. And amazon is selling it for more than Concept2 website.
Check out Rogue Fitness!
By the way...how long to do everyday this...?, everyday is good or better 1 days yes and 1 day rest...?
Head to ucanrow2.com/ for additional resources!
Started a 45 workout, no rest periods, about 30s/m at around a 5 intensity setting. Feels fine after a few weeks. Thoughts as to value of this workout? Thx
Can you tell me more about the workout? I would keep the strokes/minute closer to 20.
Would you explain the power graph on the Rower?
What kind of diet do you have?
Great. Simple. Thank you.
