Taemin is a god, an transcendental experience. I think he's the pioneer in using female dancers and people call it his female gang.

Him and Jjong, they literally used their girls gangs from the very beginning, but Taemin did start having a mix first then an all girls one, and I appreciate Taemins more because he almost always made them do the exact same thing as male dancers, jjong would often use them for softer and sexier songs/choreo, nothing wrong with that but I appreciate that Taemin always had them do difficult choreo cuz female dancers are meant for ALL types of dancing

I think it's unique because he uses them the same way a male artist would use male dancers. Because usually when a male artists uses female dancers, it's usually for couple chore, or for them to have a completely different more sensual choreography. I love that taemin doesn't do this. Like in Move the only part where he has an "interaction" with his dancers is a little high five move. They're dancing together, in partnership- without gendered divisions

Taemin has been in the industry for more than 15 years as part of the legendary 5-member Kpop group SHINee and he has been a solo artist since 2014. "Guilty" is his title track on his 4th mini Korean solo album.
I think "Guilty" is a continuation of the themes surrounding Taemin's previous releases. Particularly connected to his Never Gonna Dance Again trilogy of albums -- "2 Kids", "Criminal" and "Idea" -- and Advice album themes.
As Taemin has explained, "Guilty" is about a lover who DOESN'T feel guilty about all the bad things they have done in the relationship and they feel no shame or remorse for the pain and suffering they may have caused the other person. Which, if you connect it to the messages from his previous MVs, this easily could be interpreted as a metaphor for everything Taemin has gone through in his career and life. As an idol, he has been manipulated and controlled his whole life. Debuting at 14 years old, Taemin has lived his entire life in the public eye under a microscope, he is expected to be flawless and perfect, and people are constantly telling him what to do and how he should act, etc. However, now that he has turned 30, I think he is embracing a new chapter in his life where he is saying he is no longer going to allow people to manipulate him and he is officially taking back control. In other words, he's not going to feel guilty any more for being himself and doing what makes him happy.
With Taemin -- and all the members of SHINee -- you will never get the same thing twice. Everything he releases will be a new style and sound and, yet, it will still be very "Taemin". As SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, SHINee are meant to be the first to do almost everything, and they are expected to come up with something new that no one has ever seen or heard before with every release of theirs. As Kpop's trendsetters, the members of SHINee reinvent the industry with every comeback.
Taemin is the main dancer and a main vocalist of SHINee. However, because Taemin is a member of SHINee, this means he can do it all. SHINee are known for the fact that there are no longer any fixed roles in their group, the main vocalists can rap and the rappers can fill in as main vocalists at any moment. However, what they are really recognized for is the fact that they are one of the best vocal groups to ever exist. All of the SHINee members are top tier singers and dancers.
You may find this hard to believe, but when Taemin debuted as a member of SHINee way back in 2008, he didn't have a whole lot of lines in their songs. People even used to make fun of Taemin's singing and they would say that he was tone deaf and couldn't sing. However, it's sort of a misconception that Taemin "couldn't sing." it wasn't that he couldn't sing, it was just that he debuted when he was so young -- he was only 14 years old -- that his voice hadn't really developed yet and he didn't really have a good grasp of how to use his voice and produce the sounds he wanted with it. So, in the beginning, when he sang, he was often flat or his voice cracked or he was off key or out of tune, etc.
And because he was being compared to the other members of SHINee who are all 2 to 4 years older than him, and the other members had such phenomenal voices to start out with, it really made Taemin sound like he was lacking. (SHINee are considered THE premier vocal group that everyone dreams of being as good as.) That's why in SHINee's first few songs Taemin only has a few lines, and most of the time he was just given big solo dance breaks to fill the stage at his parts in the song.
However, if he was really tone deaf, he never would have become an SM Idol trainee -- SM would have put him on the dance track and probably steered him toward becoming a backup dancer -- and he definitely would have never become the amazing singer that he is today. As you probably know, someone who is truly tone deaf is physically unable to hear the difference in the notes and is unable to carry a tune.
Taemin is considered one of the greatest dancers of all time. He has literally been voted one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop by his peers and industry experts. (Kai from EXO -- who happens to be Taemin's best friend since trainee days, and a fellow member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) That is why he has been nicknamed the Korean Michael Jackson. Literally everyone in the Kpop industry looks up to Taemin and idolizes him.
But Taemin really wanted to prove to everyone that he wasn't just a dancer, so he spent a lot of extra time concentrating on vocal lessons and the other SHINee members -- especially Onew and Jonghyun (two of the best vocalists in the industry) -- spent some serious time coaching and mentoring him until he learned what it took to match their vocal range and to use his voice. (For the first year or more after SHINee's debut Taemin spent hours in vocal lessons and he would push himself every day until his nose would bleed because he was so tired and worn out, etc. He practically lived in the training rooms at SM Entertainment.)
The ONLY thing the members of SHINee are not good at is lip syncing, so Taemin, and all the members of SHINee, have specifically trained since their debut, to build stamina and endurance, in order to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight in concert, all while performing these intense choreographies and still sound flawless. When you watch a live performance, you may be shocked because Taemin and SHINee sound so perfect live even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are so highly respected by everyone.
It's a running joke between fans and the members that you can tell when SHINee are lip syncing because they are so bad at it, that is why they avoid it at all costs. Therefore, when you hear SHINee sing, 95% of the time it will be live.
Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing than they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, what you will hear is live vocals.
Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed the SHINee members performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful.
Therefore, in Taemin's live performance you will discover that he sounds even better than in the recorded version, all while dancing full out. What makes SHINee so great is that even if they are singing a cappella while performing this high energy choreography, they sound just as amazing. That's why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive.
When SHINee debuted, they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing complex choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography, but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee completely changed the Kpop industry and upped the standard of what it meant to be an idol singer.
Taemin -- and SHINee -- live is unmatched. It's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach, and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate.
Taemin has released at least one song or album -- most of the time way more than just one -- as part of SHINee, as a member of a project group, as a solo artist or as a member of SuperM every year since SHINee's debut. (Except for the past two years because he was on hiatus while he carried out his public service duties as part of his military requirements.) Therefore, including his full-length albums, mini albums, and singles, etc., as well as his Japanese albums, Taemin has more than a dozen solo albums. Not to mention the 2 albums he has as a member of SuperM. And on top of all that, SHINee currently has 14 full-length Korean and Japanese albums, just as many repackaged albums, numerous mini albums, etc. Plus he has held many solo concert tours, as well as a world tour as a member of SuperM, and SHINee has held more than 100 concerts within 6 world tours so far. You have a TON to catch up on. :D
Now you need to check out Taemin's Killing Voice performance. I have a feeling when you watch his Killing Voice you will find that hearing him sing "Guilty," as well as his other songs, live that you will be even more impressed. Plus, you need to see one of his live performances of "Guilty" to see the complete choreography. There is a reason why Taemin is like none other.

Funny that you said: It doesn’t sound like kpop.. actually Taemin has his own genre called T-Pop (Taemin-Pop) 😀 and this is exactly why he‘s different.. every time he comes back whole kpop industry holds breath and waiting with excitement what Taemin will create again. Where 90 % of kpop is copy-paste clone music he is one of few artists with own identity, his own music and style.. whilst he has great songs he is also called one of best (in my opinion THE best) dancers in kpop.
And I agree: This man, this artist deserves worldwide more recognition.. Taemin is pure ART. He has been already about 15 years in the business and is member of one of the best, most innovative and distinctive groups in Kpop: SHINEE

Prior to becoming a trainee at the age of 11, Taemin had no formal dance training. He started out as a self-taught popper and locker who learned to dance by copying dancers on TV, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. He said he thought dancers like Kpop solo artist Bi Rain and Michael Jackson were cool, so he would try and copy their moves. He debuted as the main dancer of SHINee in 2008 at the age of 14 -- so he had about 3 years of training as a dancer once he became a trainee.
Therefore, most of what you see is just natural talent and an unbelievable amount of dedication. Taemin has put in a lot of effort to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard than himself. He has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training.
It's said that if Taemin's dance looks easy then it's actually really difficult and if it looks extremely difficult then it's even harder than you imagine. No one moves the way he does and even his backup dancers struggle to keep up with him. Choreographers say he is constantly asking them to make the choreography more difficult and he is never satisfied until the difficulty level is off the charts.
As Taemin has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance.
He's also one of the only idols who have debuted in 3 different Kpop generations -- second generation with SHINee in 2008, third generation as a solo artist in 2014 and now fourth generation as a member of SuperM in 2019.
You should watch some of Taemin's concert documentaries to see just how hard he trains and works. If you search RUclips you will find 2 or 3 from his solo concerts, as well as documentaries/behind the scenes of SHINee's concerts.
You have obviously not watched a whole lot of Taemin or SM boy groups, because Taemin always has female dancers. Plus, Taemin is known for his androgynous style and concept and SM is all about finding the best dancers, regardless of what their gender is. :D SM has some of the best dancers in the entire Kpop industry, therefore they also have to have the best background dancers. (For example, Taemin's most famous song and choreography is "Move," which has all-female dancers.)

All SHINee members use both male and female back-up dancers, both in their group and solo songs. Taemin already had female dancers in the performance video for Ace, a song from his debut album from 2014. His most famous choreography - for Move - is usually performed with only female dancers.

Now, as to the meaning of this MV/song, this is what I've gotten based upon my deep-dive into Taemin through articles, interviews, observations, and such, but first there are a few things you MUST remember when interpreting Taemin's lyrics:
    1) The simplest explanation is NOT the true interpretation (opposite from the philosophical argument of Occam's razor).
    2) Taemin is deep into philosophy and regularly explores various world philosophies.
    3) Many of Taemin's lyrics are directed inward to his psyche and history, spanning across a storyline illustrating different philosophies as his concepts for each song.
    4) Using those philosophies along with religious symbolism, metaphors, and allusions to illustrate their conflict with his Christian faith (Taemin is Catholic).
So, when putting all that together, we need to look at all the details to figure out the deeper, true meaning behind the surface reading of the lyrics. In short, this is not a toxic relationship between a couple. It's in fact the continuation of his struggle between the two egos in his mind (indicated by the hand inside his shirt grabbing himself -- it's coming from inside himself): the demon tempting him with the perks of his celebrity life clashing with his Christian self desiring to adhere to his Christian worldview. The person clinging to the attendant's leg is Taemin himself. He's trying to cling to his faith-based identity. He digs his fingers into his flesh to feel pain and bring him back to or hold onto reality. This story of his personal conflicts also plays out in his MVs/songs for "Want", "Famous", "Criminal", and "IDEA" (in fact the entire "Never Gonna Dance Again" Acts 1 & 2 albums), and "Advice".
For this particular song/MV, Taemin indicated that he researched both "Demian" by Hermann Hesse and ""Erotism: Death and Sensuality" by Georges Bataille, a French philosopher. His concept is that of guilt and how humans process their guilt. For Taemin, this is displayed through the character he plays of Abraxas (gnostic demigod of a heretical sect, the Basilides, later referred to as a demon). However, Taemin also plays the character of himself being tormented by this demon who constantly plagues him. The entire song is a dialogue between Abraxas and Taemin. During the dialogue, Taemin is struggling (the choreo) to fight off being possessed and swallowed completely by Abraxas.
We see Taemin walking through institutions of his memory such as a school (which, as an introvert, he hated), hospital/mental institution (brainwashing), and training center (SM?), always being controlled and in situations that produce temptations to go against his values. If he is not constantly vigilant, "....when you've caught on (Abraxas), I'm already gone (Taemin)." In other words, he will lose himself instantly because the temptations are so appealing and addictive (as illustrated in his MVs for "Want" & "Famous"). The "poison apple" is the bait, (again just like in "Want" & "Famous")..."want a bite?" "Just a little more, that's all it takes." "Gift you once as a bait, then I (Abraxas) take everything." The demon is the father of lies.
The pre-chorus and chorus are actually further dialogue between Taemin (pre-chorus) and Abraxas (chorus):
    [Pre-chorus]
    Ooh-ooh
(On that vague border between good and bad)
You played the fool for me
(My judgment in the final moment)
    [Chorus]
    Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
    You got me G-U-I-L-T-Y
Trick and take everything from you
Again, just playing a game all for fun
    Hundreds of lies
    Ooh yeah
Taemin is a genius when it comes to interweaving layers of meanings into his lyrics (which he often rewrites/tweaks from SM samples) and leaving us spellbound, trying to arrive at the deepest look into his psyche. This is why he is the ultimate artist for me. Yes, I love his dancing, but it's his lyrical and musical prowess that truly captivates me, while also gratifying my desire for deeper, meaningful Christian messaging that is usually lacking in regular Christian music.

As a bona fide legend in the industry (like his SHINee brothers), Taemin is provided with only the best in the production and direction of his work. His fingerprints are in every single aspect of his discography.
Unlike many SM artists, Taemin couldn't sing when he debuted. This is due to the fact that he was one of the youngest idols to ever debut at that time. In 2008, when SHINee debuted, Taemin was only 14 (intl. age) and SHINee's main dancer. SM deferred his vocal training due to his immature vocal cords. When it did become time for him to sing, one vocal coach told him he would never be a singer and to stick with dancing. This LIT A FIRE under a young, but very determined Taemin. Thankfully, with the help of his SHINee brothers, Onew (leader) and Jonghyun (main vocal), two of the most powerful vocalists in Kpop, Taemin started his singing journey. Eventually, other more professional vocal coaches stepped in and Taemin, with his self-admitted workaholic nature, shocked the Kpop world with his very rapid singing prowess. His growth was so impressive, that SM chose Taemin as their very first-ever male soloist from an active boy group in 2014. He was 21.
Just as in his dancing (he's self-taught), Taemin is also very creative and unique in his vocals -- other than the fact that you can often hear whispers of Jonghyun's vocals in Taemin's falsetto -- Taemin is very intentional with how he articulates his words when singing. He has a knack for matching his voice to the emotion and tone of the music. Creepy music, creepy vocalizations and so on. A perfect example is one of my favorite b-sides is "Impressionable". As usual, the meaning of the song is extremely deep beyond the surface reading of the lyrics and the vocals lend themselves to the sinister aspect of the song -- the metaphors illustrating the relationship of a spider approaching its victim stuck and struggling in the spider's web. Taemin is both the spider and the fly.
Now, between being known as the King of Kpop, the ACE of SM, and the Korean MJ, Taemin has also become the "Idols Idol" due to the many 3rd-5th gen idols he has inspired and consider their own idol they look up to. Many of them cite Taemin and/or SHINee as the reason why they became idols.

Thank you for your reactions to Taemin's art. I just watched your other video too. Taemin became a trainee debuted at age 14 with SHINee and in May they will be 16 years together as a 2nd gen group still going strong. SHINee has alwas been known for an eclectic discography and Taemin learned well from his hyungs, Onew, Jonghyun, Key, and Minho, who all have awesome solo work as well. Taemin made his solo debut i 2014 with Danger and Ace, and wanted to dispel his "cute maknae" image without disrupting SHINee, and he succeeded so well! In addition to being an extraordinary dancer (the "MJ of Korea"), SM Entertainment labeled Taemin their Ace. He was the first artist from an existing SM group to become a solo artist, paving the way for so many idols you probably know and love. I suggest starting with Taemin in 2008 Replay, their debut song and moving forward. Since you look busy with other idols (from your lovely wall), I can suggest Taemin's Black Rose mv, Heaven live stage, Under My Skin mv, IDEA mv and performance video, Mars live, Stone Heart, The Rizzness pv, Sayonara Hitori mv, and Just Me and You dance video. I assume you will eventually check out classics like 2Kids mv, Drip Drop, Press Your Number, and more. For SHINee, they are known for their layered harmonies, live performances, and chemistry: Odd Eye live stage, Evil live stages, Your Number mv, as well as their classics like Lucifer, Sherlock, Everybody live, Excuse Me Miss live, Don't call Me mv, Atlantis mv, and their recent releases of Hard mv and Juice pv (so awesome). You can listen/watch these on your own to get a feel as for why we love Taemin and SHINee so much. Whatever you decide, please enjoy. Happy 2024!

A few things... 1st, this song is a powerful masterpiece about him losing his innocence at a young age due to being exploited by his company when he debuted at only 14.
The song makes the viewer feel slightly uncomfortable watching it and it is supposed to.
Also if you thought he sounded good (he did) then watch him perform live. There is no comparison.
Watch Want, Criminal, Idea, Move, and Advice to start. They wont be similar because he is different each time he releases new music, but he is a true artist in every sense and seems to be reminiscent of both david bowie and michael jackson.

Welcome to Tpop (Taemin Pop)!!! Once you TaemIN, you’ll never TaemOUT.
💎 What can we say other than THE KING IS BACK!? I absolutely love how deep Taemin’s songs and MVs are…they aren’t just entertainment or for clicks/views, but he tells a story. He wants to make people THINK and question and reflect. This isn’t something one can watch and then move on. His concepts are intellectual and personal.
💎 Regarding the song itself, his haunting whispers with the beautiful runs on top give me chills…the rap section was unexpected, but fit perfectly and suited the song more than I’d have imagined. I loved how the song switched gears in unexpected ways…there are certain formulas that most kpop songs follow, but this moved in ways I’d never imagined it would and it’s perfect.
💎 As far as the choreography…holy freaking moly. I KNEW it would blow my mind…of course it would-it’s Taemin! With that said, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t some of his best work to date. It’s provocative without being slutty. Not only that, but you can SEE him being jerked around without any hands on him at all. Around the tenth time watching the video, I happened to notice some of what the background dancers were doing (it’s hard to peel my eyes from Taemin!). There are some genius moves that add to the overall look of the stage…some possibly inspired by breakdancing and some quite acrobatic. I STRONGLY suggest watching the Studio Choom and/or some (ALL) the live performances because the choreo is spectacular. The hips, the abs, the arms, the hands…HIS EYES & LIPS ~~ pure perfection.
💎 All I can really say besides the King has returned is, if loving Taemin is a crime,
    I’m “G-U-I-L-T-Y … Who's gonna punish me?” 💎
Gonna drop some info in a reply to this comment…

Taemin became a trainee under SM at age 11 as a self-taught dancer. He was one of three selected out of thousands the day he auditioned, but he caught their eye with his pop-locking skills, the fact he crossed the line when he wasn’t supposed to (on purpose), and his cheekiness. Though he didn’t feel ready, he debuted with SHINee as the maknae (youngest member) and main dancer at age 14.
Though he didn’t get any vocal lines at first (many stated he was tone-deaf, but he was going through puberty), Taemin worked his butt off to improve-so much so he was getting frequent nosebleeds and passed out a few times. His hyungs (basically a term for older “brothers”/close males) helped him develop his voice, especially Onew (Leader of SHINee and also helped coach SM trainees) and Jonghyun (widely regarded as the best vocalist of KPOP), to the point he was the first SM idol to go solo whilst active in his group (2014, at 21 years old). He’s now known for being an exceptional vocalist and is a main vocalist for SHINee and SuperM.
In 2014, Taemin had his solo debut (the first artist to ever do so while also active in a group) as the ACE of SM Entertainment (the best of the best in all areas)-Ace is the name of his first solo album and he was the first to receive that title. Now he has gained even more titles: he is the Idols’ Idol (most idols today will say the reason they became an idol and the person they most look up to/aspire to be is Taemin and/or SHINee), he is also a Prince of KPOP (which is a title granted to SHINee), Golden Maknae of SM that’s talented in all areas (besides the fact everyone loves him-not only is he talented, but he’s a wonderful human), Legendary Solo Man (역솔남-near as I can tell, it’s a title bestowed on those similar to “Diva”, given to artists such as Aretha, Dolly, Cher, etc), 탬또롤 (Taemddorol, meaning 'Taemin, once again, a role model'), and the Michael Jackson of South Korea (he’s also known as one of the best dancers in South Korea, if not the best). His backup dance teams are the best in the business and are comprised of multiple famous choreographers (with that said, it’s still difficult (if not impossible) to see anyone BUT Taemin when he’s dancing). It’s no surprise that he’s very well-respected amongst choreographers: his friend (infamous choreographer) Koharu Sugawara nicknamed him “Dancer Killer”.
In 2019, SM collaborated with Capitol Records, USA, and assembled a group of seven of the best artists in KPOP to debut in the USA: SuperM. In fact, they even collaborated with Marvel after having been dubbed the Avengers of KPOP. Of course, Taemin was the first chosen and helped pick the other six members. Though not the eldest member, he is the senior member of the group due to the length of time he’s been in the industry. As such, he would have been leader, but he deferred that task to Baekhyun of the group EXO (who’s slightly older than Taemin). Taemin has been the maknae of SHINee his entire career and didn’t feel he would be best suited to lead the others. However, he is the center of the group and they ALL (including Baekhyun) defer to his experience and take his advice to heart. He is very caring towards his dongsaengs (juniors) and was nicknamed Taemresa (inspired by Mother Teresa). Baekhyun is an incredible leader, by the way…don’t want anyone to misunderstand my intentions behind what I’ve said.
With the debut in SuperM, Taemin became the first idol (and remains the only male idol) to ever debut in three generations: 2nd with SHINee, 3rd as a solo artist, and 4th Gen with SuperM.
Taemin recently discharged from his mandatory military service 04 Apr 2023. Taemin is one of the most active members on SNS: he messages on Bubble (text, pix, and voice…including him playing piano and singing to us), frequently goes live on IG, posts pics, and resumed his unofficial job of SHINee’s Spoiler Fairy. He’s also the member who mostly treats his fans like we’re in a parasocial relationship-acting and talking as though we’re his significant other.
Taeminnie calls his fans Jjakgoongs (a name meaning best friends/buddies/partners) and Taemints (Taemints being the name of his Shawol fans, based on the fact SHINee was a total secret and not marketed at all before their debut so Taemin would hand out mints and candies to tempt people to listen to their music and attend their debut-which not even their families were aware they were debuting until they were on stage in front of them).
Another important thing to know regarding Taemin has to do with his beloved hyung, Jonghyun, whom we tragically lost in 2017. Jonghyun was Taemin’s biggest fan and supporter, even rescheduling his own concert to attend Taemin’s. They were inseparable. Considering SHINee was back on the stage less than two months after his passing, the group did not have very long to grieve. (They returned after much consideration and at the behest of Jjong’s mom and sister.) Taemin is a well-known workaholic…he never takes breaks and hasn’t since he was a child. He’s in the studio every single day-not even taking off for Christmas. In fact, he went live on the day of his military discharge from the practice room and was renting dance studios while he was enlisted because he HAS to dance…it’s part of him. His jump from nonstop working and perfecting his abilities into military life, plus dealing with depression and anxiety, truly hit him hard. Thankfully, he appears to be doing much better now. He looks and sounds happy and healthy, which is honestly all I could ever hope for.
Taemin and SHINee are all fluent in Japanese and release just as many Japanese albums as Korean. They are so popular in Japan, many do not consider them foreign artists (which is testament to the love and respect the Japanese people have for them). They even have an entirely separate crew of dancers and staff in Japan. Most artists have to request to hold concerts at Tokyo Dome (it’s an unspoken rule you need to be able to sell out the 55,000-seat arena to perform), but they actually reach out and request SHINee and Taemin because they know they’ll sell out in seconds (whether as a group or Taemin as a solo artist) and have to host multiple days to accommodate. The guys host the entire concert in Japanese and do not need translators.
SHINee, as an experimental group, have always been trendsetters-which includes Taemin, of course. Besides introducing new music styles and breaking boundaries with his concepts, he has also worked to break other boundaries, as well. Early in his career, SM took advantage of his prettiness and exaggerated it-he was often mistaken as a female (especially during the long-hair era) and would frequently clear his throat to “discreetly” let others know he’s male. He absolutely hated it, and understandably so-he was a teenager. Later, he embraced some of the socially-viewed “feminine” qualities and has worked hard to showcase that music has no gender.
Taemin made waves with his song, “Move”, which he performs with his Girl Gang (all-female backup dancers). The choreography blends masculine and feminine energy like no one but Taemin can do (so many tried to imitate it, it was dubbed “Move Disease”, but none come close). He also lends that androgynous aspect to his fashion choices. What’s even better is he hasn’t stopped pushing that genderless boundary…every comeback he takes yet another leap towards his mantra: music has no gender.
Taemin has many facets to him-when the camera is on (filming MVs, music shows, etc), he is a true professional. With his SHINee hyungs, he’s a mischievous crackhead who lives to torment them. They raised him, so they spoil him, but don’t misunderstand-his love for them is unmatched and it goes both ways. With SuperM, he’s silly, but caring-he took them under his wings and is their mentor. He also has his Padding Squad (friend group consisting of Kai from EXO, Jimin from BTS, Ravi from VIXX, Timoteo of HotShot, WannaOne/HotShot’s Sungwoon, and a non-celebrity friend). They’re named the Padding Squad, or Padding Friends, because Taemin bought and designed matching customized jackets with their own unique logo.
For me, personally, I can appreciate someone’s musical abilities…but to become a true fan (or “stan”), they have to be really special and have qualities setting them apart besides simple talent. Taemin, SHINee as a group, and the other SHINee members as soloists have my utmost devotion (they’re all five incredible soloists-in fact, SHINee is the ONLY group in which ALL members have hit #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Chart as soloists). They’re incredibly talented in ways far beyond musical abilities and are kind, fun, and caring humans.

For something similar in vibes/meaning, definitely go for criminal or want. For something more hip hop/upbeat, go for Danger (his debut) or Advice, which was his last release before enlisting in the military (Guilty is his comeback from the military). If you wanna see his dancing shine (bc he’s very well known in the industry for it), then Move (where his all female dancer trend started), Goodbye (Japanese), and Criminal (the dance practice particularly) is what I recommend
There’s a whole bunch more to his extensive discography, not to mention his whole other side with his group Shinee, but these are personally the essentials to get a feel of Taemin as a soloist/artist.

Taemin has talked about the literature that inspired this concept: Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Bataille and Demian by Hermann Hesse.
Love that Taemin decided to do things his own way with his own colors. I don't see anyone else doing this concept, or even the way in which he does it. Just stunning! Great reaction

I am subscribing with hopes that you will react to more of Taemins mvs, dance practices, live performances and everything else. Also, you should react to SHINee, the group he is a has been a member of for 15+ years. They are worth a listen for sure. He is also a member of SuperM which is great also. They are a supergroup with members of Exo, SHINee(Taemin), NCT, and WAYV. You won't be disappointed by any of them. Trust me.
