Sailing a Catboat - Mayflower II - Exploring a Seaport Village - Mystic Seaport, Conneticut

Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic Connecticut is the largest maritime museum in the United States. It houses a variety of exhibits, such as shipbuilding, 19th century navigation and figureheads. It also has a planetarium, children's discovery room, art spot, toy boat building and working historic seaport village to explore. Currently Mystic Seaport is restoring the Mayflower II, a historic vessel owned by Plimoth Plantation. Having just visited there, we were thrilled to see the boat as they restore it. The highlight for the kids was choosing a boat to ride (there are many to choose from) and getting a great lesson on how to sail a catboat. We stayed all day at Mystic Seaport and there was still so much more left to explore. This is a must visit for anyone in the area!
