My favorite singer, and one of his best songs...It's neat to see how he adapted his voice from this era into the 2010s when he was still with Stone Temple Pilots. His vibrato was really something else. I've never heard anyone else have a vibrato like his - especially as he aged - it was very Bowie-esque. Compare this with the version from 2010 they played in Chicago and you see such a difference, which I like more.
He was such a versatile and transformative vocalist. Throughout his entire career. His book Not Dead and Not for Sale is excellent. The song by the same name is great too.
Scott began writing the lyrics to this song while relaxing in a hot tub, after hearing about a missing woman in his hometown found dead in a ditch. That's where the dogs smelling her lyrics were inspired from. The rest of the song he said was about a relationship breakup.
MTV Unplugged was one of the best things of the 90's. Theirs, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana. I always loved Scott's voice. Big Empty was a phenomenal track from this set as well. I wish Scott could have kicked those demons. Another beautiful soul lost to heroin. :( I can always tell just how good that song is based on your enthusiasm and analyses of it. You always pick a great tune. "Frogs" from the AiC unplugged show would be one I would love to see you review. Have a lovely day, Rebecca.

I love getting to listen to them Unplugged. I saw them live at Roseland back in the day and his stage presence was absolutely magical. You could feel this electricity, it was surreal. Great vocalist, always loved his voice.
Core was truly a great album. It is the only STP album I owned although Purple was great as well. I remember watching this MTV Unplugged session. Love this acoustic version of Plush. Unfortunately, I never got to see Scott Weiland in concert. You would also enjoy his work with Velvet Revolver; Slither comes to mind.
Saw him twice here in Ireland, once on the tour for Core (seen him up close in this rocking chair) and once with Velvet Revolver (like a totally different man, until he opened his mouth and you heard THAT voice) So so grateful I had those opportunities 🤘
I was always mesmerized by how much the sound changes in this song when you switch to acoustic. The same song can go from very heavy to very chill so easily.
Hey, I just spent the last 2 hours watching your reactions and they're great! Absolutely fantastic. I'm sure you have a plethora of people giving you bands or songs to react to but a really great one is Godsmack. Sully Erna can sing so amazingly well and he has such a unique voice. I will warn some songs aren't the most viewer friendly so I would suggest something like Serenity or Voodoo if you decide to take a look! Cheers, I look forward to more videos!
First of all, thank you for doing a reaction vid to STP. Scott was one of the best lyricist of his time. Secondly, I was wondering if vibrato speed depends on the person or if it can be learned? For example, something like ‘thing in a jar’ by Daxx Riggs is extremely hard for me to sing. I can’t quite tame the speed of my vibrato🤷♂️
I'm like wowww with the song and stp, reminds me when I was going to school f$@ early in the morning. 😒☕😎 Great memories. Love music, love you RRRebecca. All the good vibe from Chile 🇨🇱🎧💖😎🎼☕ have a great day!
You NEED to react to John Denver. Pick one: Country Roads, Rocky Mountain High, Annie's Song, Leaving on a Jet Plane, whatever. Just do one. You're awesome.
It's like the 90s grunge scene fed off of each other in such a positive way. Each of the king's had their signature style, but as time rolled on you could tell that they adopted subtle things from each other, from instrumentation to vocals, which kept people guessing and excited for the soulful, powerful content that these guys put out. Even some of the smaller or shorter lived bands such as Days of the New had a combination of elements that you can hear in STP, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and vice versa. This is simply my opinion, but it's a thought!
This was one of the four most epic MTV unplugged shows of the unplugged series. STP, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice In Chains.
2nd that. However, I also really liked the Stevie Ray Vaughan episode as well.

I can always tell just how good that song is based on your enthusiasm and analyses of it. You always pick a great tune. "Frogs" from the AiC unplugged show would be one I would love to see you review.
Have a lovely day, Rebecca.
"This is a sexy song." It's about a woman that was found dead.
I always assumed he (the main character in the song) was the one hiding her (the body).
He’s said that the heart of the song is really just a relationship that didn’t work out, some of the inspiration and imagery was that murder
Bo Ho it’s about a girl that went missing on a hike.
Duane weiland said that’s where the words come from but it’s just about a relationship that fell apart.
Rebecca you have the most wonderful vocabulary! Always a pleasure
What a great band. I love how Scott Weiland used to sing. If you want to hear something really weird, react to Heilung
Was fortunate to see him live a few times with STP and Velvet Revolver. Seen a lot of acts, hands down the strongest front man I’ve seen.
Artist request - Portishead!
Roads is one of the saddest songs I ever heard. Great band though
That would be brilliant! Beth Gibbons is amazing!
Yes! I just requested the same!
Strangers ❤️❤️❤️❤️
YEAH!!!
I hadn't heard the acoustic version until just recently and it just gave me such a new appreciation for his vocals!
Not so much this version, but the version with just the acoustic.
I love your voice and how energetic you are plus you seem so fun would be great to go to a concert with plus your singing voice surblime and you are lovely 😁 x
Saw him twice here in Ireland, once on the tour for Core (seen him up close in this rocking chair) and once with Velvet Revolver (like a totally different man, until he opened his mouth and you heard THAT voice)
So so grateful I had those opportunities 🤘
I was always mesmerized by how much the sound changes in this song when you switch to acoustic. The same song can go from very heavy to very chill so easily.
I have always liked STP BUT LIKE YOU MORE REBECCA!! 😂🔥🙌👏😉😘😘♥️ LOL You do a great job!! 😘👍
Added this to my Spotify playlist as soon as it kicked in 🤘
Right on bro 🤘
Might as well add the whole unplugged set to it.
scott was an amazing frontman. RIP
Love when you do your rock reactions!!
Thank you for this reaction!
A terrific album. Brings back great memories 💜
Hello Rebecca great analysis for stp😃👍 your looking well my dear.
She has an obvious "feel" for the music and vocalists and she's quite stunning as well, a joy to watch.
Good to see my favorite vocal coach reactor back. Cheers from N.Y .
I'm like wowww with the song and stp, reminds me when I was going to school f$@ early in the morning. 😒☕😎 Great memories. Love music, love you RRRebecca. All the good vibe from Chile 🇨🇱🎧💖😎🎼☕ have a great day!
No matter how many times I hear this song the 'to find it'-x3 gives me goosebumps everytime
She’s trying to break down his performance when Scott was high as shit on heroin during this.
No reason you can't critique a performance though. 99% of good music was performed high as shit on something.
Seriously doubt he was on heroin here
mneri84 in Defense, Scott was ALWAYS high
Wrong Scott did not start dope until 95
Aco Jankovic it was 93 that he started
RIP Scott. Such an effortless cool and smooth delivery. Him and Chris, too soon
I see STP, I click and I like
MTV unplugged! The good ol days! I’m feeling all my 90s fam missing these times 😭
STP!?
Clicked on this quick!
He has a very 'country' voice and i love it! Quick vibrato yes. Thank you for posting too Rebecca. Will look more into them❤❤xxxx
