    If only there was a way to see how it runs by giving access to a smaller, more contained version of the game so that this type of things can be addressed before the game launches. Idk, call it a Demonstration (Demo for short). But i guess something like that is impossible for a small indie company like Electronic Arts

      I work in QA. Believe me, it was 'tested'. A tester can log all the bugs in the world, but it doesn't matter if the producers/project managers decide not to prioritize and fix them before a release. Managers are often judged on their ability to manage risk and meet project deadlines. They had a release date, and weren't willing to compromise for the sake of game's quality.
      Also - without proper analytics and research, a QA team can't test configurations they don't have or their companies are unwilling to provide. They might have tested a few higher end PC setups, but not all the different processors and operating system versions.

      There is a point where a hard or very hard difficulty is total bullsh*t. Where they one shot or two shot and its not even a red inblockable attack. GoWR does this too. A draugr two shotting you while you hammer away at him. Bad game design. A game that does this excellently is Ghost of Tsushima (except some duels aren't optimised), is a great example.

    • @alicea3421
      @alicea3421 Год назад

      @@Dae... I didn't play Survivor and don't intend to.
      I appreciate your comment a lot. I despised the first game. I'd hoped they'd just ripped off Sekiro's combat system and didn't finish it in the 8 months they had because, I thought, maybe they could finish it in a sequel. If they didn't, then I guess it was intentional and/or they're incompetent.
      There's a huge difference between something being difficult and something being frustrating to play. Ghost of Tsushima was drastically better than Fallen Order. It was way more difficult, I died in it and it was always my fault. The same goes for Sekiro, harder game, less frustrating. I didn't die in Fallen Order, but I got hit when I shouldn't. Game was easy even on the hardest difficulties, I thought that was intentional because the game didn't play right, so they gimped it. Only the saber duel combat seemed to function, i.e. the few bosses the game has.
      Now that I think about it, I wonder if the harder difficulties just make the game less fun to play. What does it change? Enemy AI aggression? Does it increase their health? If so, you'd just spend more time dodging and waiting rather than playing because the game doesn't reward player aggression; what with enemies often not responding to being hit. Even if you're good at the game and don't get hit, it'd just take longer and wouldn't be any more engaging. It only sounds more boring. It's like the shield argument for Souls Games, might be "easier" but it's less fun and less engaging. Playing on a harder difficulty facilitates playing in a less engaging way in a game that doesn't reward anything else due to lack of response in enemy interaction.
      I only played the first game on the highest difficulty a couple of years ago. I'm going to try it again on whatever medium is. I wonder if I'll finally see why most people don't think it's terrible.

      @@drpatrickmorbius5966 I tried it again after I wrote that comment, bugged through the ground after first planet. So many frame drops in combat. Attacks sometimes go through blocks, I still don't know if this is a performance thing. Or if it doesn't work even for people with good performance.
      From what I saw of Survivor it looked good, more variation in enemies etc. Still seems like a really short game though when I looked up playtime. As I found with Fallen Order I can't tell what the gameplay is like because they went style over substance, so while it looked good it didn't feel good to play. I also didn't really realize that the nice to look at places were so few and I didn't watch enough to know how bad the level design was. I'm hoping all of that is better too, bearable with fast travel I guess.
      If it's ever fixed on Pc I'd consider the seas. But I really don't wanna spend anything on it even on sale tbh. I watched a Fallen Order playthrough by a channel I watch quite recently and it was a much more enjoyable experience when I didn't need to suffer its gameplay.
      Tbh even if the gameplay was subpar if it was a longer game, more to do, I could see myself playing it. All the souls games are at least twice as long and way more polished. There are just so many games that I'd rather play atm, even star wars games.

    The real reason big devs release these unfinished games is because financial quarters and quarterly projections. Most of the management have to make their sales goals by the end of the quarter. Companies usually have calculated revenue for the game, for that specific quarter. It is a huge accounting and financial pain in the ass to delay a game past its expected quarter. Most of the time if you don't finish the game by the end of the quarter. Too bad, you sell it anyways because they need to make projections for the following quarter.
    TLDR big companies expect you to buy it when they say. And they don't give two shits whether its finished or not. What matters is they start selling it on the day they projected.

These were just the meaningful variations - ignoring brands, cooling solutions, etc.

And YOU do it over and over and over. Jedi Survivor is the top selling game on steam. Why would the devs and EA change their behavior? Simple example: Let's say there are 100 potential buyers for this game. They can spend 1 year, release it broken and 90 people will buy it. Or they can spend 2 years release it flawless and 100 people will buy it. What is more profitable? As long as people preorder and spend money on broken products this will get worse and worse. And 2023 so far is the best indicator for that.

    In order to get around 60 fps in this game you have to be running a gpu that matches the quality of your cpu.. You can't run a 4090 and run a cheap cpu...and vise versa.. You can get the same performance with a 580 8 gig gpu but you have to have tons of system ram and you can't run other tasks in the background.. It's a terribly optomized game, but if you run a clean system that isn't doing other things you can get by.
