@@rkip plz do an updated version 1. The uk isn’t a country it’s a political union the actual countries are England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland 2. The Netherlands is a country but only a part of the kingdom also called the Netherlands (it’s confusing) thus you forgot Aruba, Curaçao and St Maarten

It’s the same thing with the Netherlands (although there is a kingdom called the Netherlands and a country so it’s confusing Aruba, st marteen and cub carp are three real countries within the kingdom of the Netherlands but the Netherlands is also the name in the forth countries within the kingdom (hence why it’s confusing)

Well, the official name of Taiwan is the Republic of China and they don't see themselves as a separate country, but as what they consider to be the legitimate government of China. So you can say the word China itself already encompasses both Taiwan and China

As I mentioned in another comment, he mentioned both Israel and Palestine because the video includes all 195 UN members and observer states. Israel is a member of the UN (of which there are 193), and Palestine is one of the two observer states to the UN, the other being the Vatican. Many people's definition of a "country" would be the same (UN members and observer states), though definitions vary due to there being other sovereign states that are not members, such as Kosovo or Taiwan. For example, most UN members (104/193) recognize Kosovo as a country, though it is excluded here due to its lack of UN membership.

I see where you're coming from because they are indeed sovereign states, but this video likely only included UN members and observer states to avoid controversy. It's an easy way to get a list of all the countries and avoid glaring omissions. If they had gone further and attempted to include all sovereign states, it might be difficult to find a fitting stopping point for the definition for a country. While Kosovo is recognized by most UN members (104/193), there are other sovereign states whose inclusion might be more debatable. Take Niue or the Cook Islands, for example. The Cook Islands are a sovereign state that is very involved in UN activities (and is a member of eight UN specialized agencies), though they are usually not considered a country, and are in free association with New Zealand. Their sovereignty is not disputed. Additionally, there are sovereign states with very limited or no recognition by UN members, and have no membership within the UN system, such as Abkhazia, Northern Cyprus, the SADR, Somaliland, South Ossetia, and Transnistria. All of these have varying degrees of independence or recognition, so I can see why the video's creator just decided to stick with UN members and observer states, whose inclusion isn't debatable, and leaves little room for criticisms of exclusions from this list.

Greenland's exclusion from this video is just as appropriate as Puerto Rico's, or French Guiana's.

If your wondering where Kosovo and Taiwan are is basically;
-Taiwan is an island that China claims that they own it due to it having it in the Qing Empire in the 17-18th century.
-Kosovo used to be a part of Serbia until February 17th 2008.
-Both countries are noticed by UN members (119 countries know Kosovo and 13 countries know Taiwan) but are not officially in the UN

Taiwan isn't a country, and there hasn't been anything since 1683 that could possibly be considered a nation of Taiwan (the Kingdom of Tungning existed from 1661-1683). The government currently controlling the island of Taiwan is that of the Republic of China. They used to be the internationally recognized government of all of China, but in 1971, the UN General Assembly voted on Resolution 2758 and determined that the People's Republic of China was the internationally recognized government of all of China.
Today, the Republic of China has not declared independence, and is therefore in no way, shape, or form a separate country. It doesn't matter that, as you say "13 countries know Taiwan", since it's actually that they recognize the ROC as the government of all of China, and therefore do not recognize the PRC.
