    Back pain since 2014 and only heat has worked longer than ice. Ice only works as is being applied. I had back surgery and heat and hot baths in order to sleep works, same concept which is so weird. I will try ice again many times a day and see what happens.

    So does concepts apply the same, like for taking cold showers are better for healing recovery for back pain? Than compared to hot showers?

    • @BackInShapeProgram
      @BackInShapeProgram  Год назад +1

      Probably not really. But we would recommend if you take a hot shower and you have a bad lower back a blast of ice right after on the low back would likely be a more pleasant option than doing a cold shower blast.
      That being said there is much in the way of health benefits that come from cold immersion and you see a lot of that on social media these days :)

      Alright so even if i have sports injuries or back pains, would you reccomend to have a cold shower as a lifestyle for better recovery and improvement through my life. So for example cold shower for life time like a lifestyle doing 3 times a week or 5 times a week or every day cold shower? In other to help recover backpains and sports injury whenever for life?
      Also IMMA SUBCRIBE YOU! Love this kinda beautiful natural recovery and physio for sports related for the BODY! 💪🏻🙏🏻🫡

      @@BackInShapeProgram oh sorry just saw your reply, alright because i tot of doing cold shower every 3 or 5 days a week or everyday as a lifestyle for cold showering, not super ice blast but just turning on the cold shower tap and shower. So by doing it as a lifestyle i tot it would help with recovery whenever there is backpain or sports inuries.
      But base from your recommendation just stick normal hot showers and just ice it whenever there is backpain or sports injuries.
      Am getting right?
      Anyways i will repeat imma SUBCRIBE YOU because i love contents for the body related for recovery or sports! Let’s go!!! 💪🏻🙏🏻🫡

      @@Blue_Tsuki thanks for the kind comment, so for the low back injury, the ice is best as we discuss.
      For health benefits. cold showering is a great practice to do as you mentioned. HOWEVER, don't do it right after a workout :) We don't talk about that as much on our channel as we are more focussed to lower back health but it is still a good practice you should look into more :D (for general health and wellbeing).

      @@BackInShapeProgram Yupe! For lower back pain or for injuries, take a hot shower and then ice it after that.
      As for cold shower as a lifestyle yupe i head not do it right after workout, instead it must be done in morning like before workouts or 4-6hrs after workouts. Hehe so am aware of it.
      But main question is that i wanna confirm like you said it’s good for health benefits but will it affect or disrupt or hamper the recovery of backpains or sport injuries, When doing cold shower as a lifestyle?
      Or it’s not a problem at all?

    So essentially heat is not good for people with chronic back pain or acute back pain. Heat will make inflammation worse especially if you have arthritis in the lower back. Generally you should always ice the lower back. If you have a job which requires a lot of walking and bending etc would you recommend heat before you start your shift to warm the lower back up or again would that just compound the issue as you probably already have inflammation in that area. Doctors are useless. All them years of study to tell people over and over to just take painkillers or anti inflammatory medicine is insane and not helpful. How some of them sleep at night collecting the wage they do is beyond me. You and your network really do care for people. I hope you can answer my questions as no one will help.

      Sorry to hear your struggle, definitely follow the advice and guidance on the program at backinshapeprogram.com but regarding activity after icing - don't go into a strenuous activity right after icing, you need to return to normal body temp first.... if its strenuous ice after :)

    Hi I’ve just started phase 1exercises. How long do I repeat those for before moving onto phase 2? Thanks

    • @BackInShapeProgram
      @BackInShapeProgram  3 года назад

      Hey Colin, that's great :) we normally base it on your current level of mobility, i.e. if you're able to move around the house for 5-10 minutes or so even with pain, it is worth starting on the Phase 2 work. Another way of evaluating it is, if you're doing 2-4 or more of the activities in this video you really should be moving on to Phase 2. ruclips.net/video/lSt1mYvIqGU/видео.html

      Contrast bathing is different to using heat only and the reason we didn't used to recommend it is primarily compliance, as most people just don't do contrast bathing because of the hassle. So Icing is the best in this regard as the compliance is better :) Heat alone is not good.
