- Casey Boat, Freddie Kraft, T.J. Majors, and Brett Griffin reunite with a special guest-last year’s fan-favorite, Joel Edmonds-to dissect the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history. The group had a lot to cover from the painted finish line on the track to the insane restarts.
In our segment “Spot On, Spot Off,” Denny Hamlin boldly declares this as his championship year. Meanwhile, we wonder whether iconic sponsorships are becoming relics of the past. Is it time for a new era in racing?
The crew swaps exhilarating stories, delves into rumors, and debates about when Ford will clinch a victory. Will the blue oval brand rise to the challenge?
In “Reaction Theater,” passionate fans hold nothing back as they critique the performance of the Driver of the 17 car. And brace yourselves-Brett reveals that Clint Bowyer has left him on read.
Lastly, we offer an exclusive preview of the upcoming throwback weekend at Darlington.

“If my dog can help me get some ass , I’m in!”😂😂😂😂
Joel Edmonds would be a great addition on a regular basis. Honest candid and hilarious!
Kansas was my first in-person NASCAR race, and even with the weather, the experience was all that I could have hoped for. From the placement of the merchandise vendors to the seating and the food in the Highline Club and the fan walk (which I didn't get to participate in as I was securing rain gear for my family), NASCAR did an outstanding job!
My only complaint with NASCAR is they needed to communicate to the fans during the rain delays about what their thoughts are. We couldn't even get information from officials walking through the stands about what was going on until they announced drivers to the cars. I feel a lot more fans would have hung around for the race if they would have known something, anything, as we were all looking at the same radar picture and never thought that thing was going to get run on Sunday!
One of the best things that we did was rent scanners. Now, I know that some drivers and their spotters like to communicate more than others, but one of the most enjoyable things I will remember is listening to TJ talk Brad through the race. The amount of information he gave him was outstanding and helped me understand what goes on in the car and on the track. The only way it could have been a better day was a win for Denny (Denny Is Great!) and TJ's car finishing in the top three. Unfortunately, Busch had to spin out and screw everything up.
Keep up the great work and God Bless!
The stage 1 battle between the #5 and #1 was a lot of fun to watch too.
Yeah can’t believe they don’t mention it. Thought that was the best racing of the whole race. Definitely best first stage of the year. They clearly are not the biggest fan of Ross after proved Brett, TJ, and Freddie wrong a couple years ago after coming on the show.
Really the stage 1 battle between the #9 and #10 was better.
Banger of an episode !! I agree with Joel so much on the 30 week schedule. less comp with football,10 race playoff, Each track 1 time except Daytona for the cutoff
Really appreciate every show you guys do! Great insights and great laughs!! 😂 Joel is an awesome addition everytime too! Cheers, from Australia
Joel needs to be a permanent member of DBC
I think Joel needs to be on way more often. Maybe permanently. 😂😂
by far the best pod cast around. love listening every week
Go back to the original chase format! 10 drivers, 10 races......best driver gets it!
The problem is the other 26-30 cars in the field. It's still a complete field of cars, not like a 'playoff' where the field is cut each week
@@Timmichanga361 and??
1:00:47 Tj nailed it everything you just said especially with not changing that tire
joel edmonds !!!!!!! yes!!!!! ohhh i been waiting for him to come back!!!!
Who is he?
Joel Edmonds NEEDS to be on more often this episode is hilarious
I always pictured Joel as a 60+ year old man based off his voice… never imagined he be younger lol
Make joel permanent please this was amazin
The sponsorship/branding talk was the most important and interesting part of the podcast.
Heeeeyyy i was one of those fans at New Hampshire in 2001.
Also to add to this part I caught a few races on TV and really liked the black and purple/pink and the number 99 and how it all looked together. So i was immediately invested as a kid in Jeff Burton.
That ending was iconic 😂
Can we get a shirt with Joel's quote about having a dog get him booty? Lol
The Austin Dillon comment slipped right by most people, but that was gold
Great show!!! Joel Edmonds is podcast gold. Did not know of Glen Dickson, but sorry to hear of his passing.
Brett sounded like a little brother trying to get big brother in trouble and have Tj slip up and say something about Noah Gragson going to RFK next year 😂
I grew up 4 miles from MIS my dad worked there for first 2 years when MIS opened. I was 3-4 years old my dad took me to track where Jeep tested the Jeeps in the infield from 1970 - 1994-5. I have been a lifelong fan ever since.
MIS? Which one lol
Can we have Joell have his own podcast on dirty mo.......him and biffle telling stories with old timers of the business
The shade for suarez still being engaged was hilarious. That got me laughing hard. Piss or get off the pot! Atlanta was awesome. But we gotta cut the fuel saving crap. This race is gonna go down in history!
You guys need Joel here regularly
About 1 hour and 40 minutes in this show went off the rails. Wiping the tears away while typing this.
great show guys. really enjoy joel. thanks!!
Please make Joel a regular 🤞🏽
They have released pictures of the official line nit the white stripe an u see larson won no question it sucks for busher but its facts
Buesher had so much pressure on him from his 17 team to all of FORD and NASCAR.
If u stick noah in a top tier car he would be a top driver in nascar an i am a larson fan u put noah in the 4 car he wins races
While Noah Gragson hasn’t won a race in the Cup Series, he has had 6 top tens this year. Better than how he was in 2023.
More Joel!!!! I’ve heard his rants for years lol, it’s about time the world met Mayberry’s hidden gem 😂😂
I swear Joel is that one relative you ask a simple question like you hungry and he tells his life story
Joel needs to be there every week!!!!!
Was there and tempted to go home when rain came and freezing. But I'm glad I stayed!
I took my wife back home (30 mins away) because she had to work in the morning. I made it back to my seats about 2 minutes before the green. I have NEVER seen a track dry that fast!
Yeah, I know, right? I was watching them dry it and they were really on top of it.
Listening on the radio that was brutal. Chris’ team is being interviewed and you can hear the cheers from the team and then his crew chief says “we may not have won” that’s tough. Great race!
Those, 'Who should I root for' reddit threads are all throwaways trying to summon Chase Briscoe because they saw him respond to one of the first posts like that. Now everyone wants their chance to be special too.
Do you think any of the drivers racing towards the finish line were thinking I'll let up off the gas right at the line? No they were mashing that pedal through the firewall. NASCAR used the technology for a reason, unless you want them to go back to the way they figured out Lee Petty's photo finish win way way back in the day.
Joel found the button to break TJ...Love it!
Dad who is 70 and watched I guess as long as it's been televised but says the stages ruined nascar and doesn't watch anymore except occasionally flipping over for 10 min. Nascar needs to turn itself back 20years
Such a great race
Yeah
Casey the ever professional, Thank GOD she is there to keep you all in line
Ryan preece photo finish for 28th😅
Gov get em ryan👌🪠🤸♀️👊👏🏆🏁
I'll say it for the 500th time, if you want a game 7 moment but still want a legitimate champion then take the top 26 points days for each driver and use it to calculate the final points. The last 10 weeks would be constant storylines and scenarios up until the last race, stage, lap. It could even lead to a moment where they have to win to win the championship. One bad race in a 3 race championship segment would still lead to dominate driver not winning
Joel is building a brand 😂
Fantastic show this week
Alex Bowman and ALLY are tied together. His car is consistently the same. Love that!
💯 percent agree with Brett even denny said on his podcast this may be the last year for throw back weekend due to the cars not having the same sponsor thru out the year.. made a really good point if you gave the team more money instead of chasing the sponsor it's back in the driver's hand making them ironically branded and easier to pull for a constant driver week to week causing rivals between fan bases and drivering sales up tickets and everything.. nascar needs to find a way to get back to connecting with the fans and drivers
Bring Kentucky back!! I’ve been saying that this next gen car is perfect for the track
Great show!
talking about race tracks to bring back. nascar destroyed california right after it showed it gives some of the best races. unfortunately we will never get a crowd out here to fill the seats, EVEN with them supposedly turning it into a short track. our locals don't even show to our local short tracks
Rileys parents' company-"Terrible Herbst, or Terrible Herbst Oil Company, is an American privately held gas station company based in Paradise, Nevada, United States. Wikipedia" Halarious!
I fell in love with NASCAR when DW drove the Tide Ride--at first because I thought the car paint job was gorgeous. Love everything about this show, except the folks walking around behind the curtain. Edit: I'm wrong, it's a reflection on the driver suit display.
Bring Back Chicago !!!
There are tons of high speed cameras out there that NASCAR could use to show a clearer image for the "photo finish". But realistically, they should either figure out a way to get the transponder more forward, or have multiple, but yes they need a way to make these close finishes more transparent to the TV audience.
Nope
These dam commercials are ridiculous they go to commercials at the worst time an why can they not have a side by side every commercialsl break
Think this is bad....just wait till the "network swap-over".
JTG Racing was in existence for 10 years before Gordon Smith became a co-owner in the team. Gordon Smith brought into JTG Daugherty Racing in 2016.
Charters were top 33 each week in the past. Rename what Nascar named who has money and who does not. Enough Said!!!
The first down markers in the NFL are not “fake”. A lot of work went into making those accurate when compared to the chains.
By my calculations, the nascar cup car is an a class
1:48:10 is an all time moment
The branding issue is way bigger than Nascar realizes.
TJ Majors on iracing was pretty good.
Damn can definitely tell they had to cut out a bunch at the tail end of the show i can listen to these guys for many hours ya don't gotta shorten their podcast its not a Richmond race lol
Joel was pretty buzzed by end of episode and it was 1030 am lolol love it
They ought to have a "guest" spotter from another team each week.
Hell yeah bring back Kentucky please!
You got to talk to the track owner
Somewhere there’s gotta be an uncut version of this podcast. I need it
Nope
the cup cars downforce is 40% under the car and when you hit a bump you lose a lot of DF instantly.
The Kentucky Derby has been fine with no line!! And they have the pictures up instantly
Why don't they have a line on the wall? Like a clear line that is placed right where the scoring loop is. And then a camera that is in the wall like a pilon camera.
1:14:03 nahhh not me😂ik all them jerseys
The better the race, the better the show.
Somebody give me a hallelujah praise god amen on Brett Griffin sponsored car
5 guys, 3 weeks, short, mid, road/mid. Championship format
When it comes to pits early or late its a under cut, or an over cut.
Fan scanners have had issues as well
Great show
I relate to Byron just because of iracing.
BRING BACK THE REACTION THEATER INTRO!
Why do we have to introduce the spotters at the beginning every week? Everyone knows who these guys spot for.
Get Clint on the show!
That would be something
Joel Edmonds calls brads k. Win
My 3 year old loves Ryan Blakey because she recognizes the Menards paint scheme. But the weeks he’s not in that car she can’t find him. 1:09:39
The championship does not mean anything any more. I do not even know who the champions have been. I liked when it was the best driver and had meaning.
False
@@johnhaas2523 As much as I like Ryan Blaney, I can get where people would find his championship run underwhelming
Joel interrupts more than anyone I've ever seen 🤣
I've always said championship should be mile. And a half road course, and a short track.
Put the Indian back on the Redskins helmet.
Nascar needs to replace Texas with Kentucky. Because if Texas and Kentucky are identical with flipped turns. Then give Ketucky a race, COTA can take over as the Texas race. As for the 1 race, take every track aside from Daytona and Talledega to 1 race. Maybe go back to the Pocono double weekend, and you can add more tracks like Nascar wants. And keep the Roval since it is the home of Nascar and a different layout anyway.
That's up to Marcus Smith and he's not going to do such a f****** thing getting rid of Texas
According to a Fox Sports story from this morning, NASCAR doesn't want permanent charters because the media rights deal isn't permanent. How in the hell are those related? MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL "charters" (franchises) are all permanent. NOT one of them has a permanent media rights deal.
The revenue sharing part is what
@@johnhaas2523 Permanent charters have absolutely nothing to do with revenue sharing.
Every one of the big four leagues NASCAR so desperately wants to pretend they can compete with had PERMANENT franchises before revenue sharing was ever even a concept.
The 17 drove to the apron at the start finish line and it's flat down there. The 5 was still on the banking which gave him enough momentum the get a head
Eh. Atlanta is the best plate race at the moment and the cars are actually on edge. Kansas was the better race but I don't get putting down another great race in the process.
This episode would be a lot if Joel didn't interrupt every 10 mins sorry he interrupted everyone so disrespectful
Make a rule that says if a driver gets 8 or 10 wins, they automatically qualify for the final 4. That way the guy who has dominated the series doesn't get put out cuz of a mechanical issue or some other dumb reason. My 2 cents. 🏁
It’s ok to have 3 special paint schemes
TJ’s either gotta stop clearing his throat on the mic or the editors have to figure out a way to edit that out somehow. It’s damn near impossible to listen to with that nonstop.
Was at nh in 2001. And many years before and after
Woah!
Denny blows the big one
Pit Bull it sounded more like John Travolta
