the mailbox is actually pretty cool and easy. I'm sure if people have kids, they'd love it and an easy thing to get them involved in a cool little project
To get the giant Christmas lights to work properly, you need to use a translucent colored paint, like the kind you'd find in the automotive section, not a normal opaque spray paint.
Hey, i just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your videos, you remind me of my uncle a lot. Idk why, but you do John. He committed suicide in May, and I really miss him, i wish I listened to my gut feeling and visited him one last time because we lived within 2 miles of each other and now I won't be able to. So thank you for somehow reminding me of him.😊♥️
So sorry for your loss. I know from experience that the holiday season can sometimes be the hardest, but I pray your memories together will help bring you comfort. May God bless you. ❤️
Next time you want to do a TikTok project video, build it they way they do it, and then build it Malecki-style. The tree tray could be really fancy with like an end grain cutting board bottom and a nice, strong frame around it.
Even just adding Veneer Edge Banding would work to cover the plywood edges! I'm pretty shocked at his lack of effort and basic wood working additions. It all felt so condescending.
The editors killed it on this one. Don't get me wrong, I love John and his jokes, but the editing makes them that much funnier. The clips and memes they drop in always make me chuckle. The drop in of John singing "Forever Young" was incredible lol Keep up the good work everyone.
My dad and I used to make wind spinners the same way you made the pine tree way back in the late 1980's... they look really neat spinning around in the wind when they were painted/stained.
The issue with the star is that all of the points are supposed to be equal distance from the center. Since they were drawing the points all the way to the corners and edges of the rectangle, irregular distances from the center, there was no way the star was going to look right. But tbh it fits the vibe fine, this tree is supposed to look like a hillbilly DIY project.
I love the interaction between John and Pull it 😀 reminds me of me and my oldest brother. He was a foosball player and was 15 ft tall while I was barely over 5 and a half feet tall and we enjoyed a good game of make fun of each other so our other two brothers could enjoy with popcorn. Keep it up you knuckleheads.
@@mherrmann81687 Same way he doesn't know to pre-drill before putting screws in so it doesn't split the wood I guess. I do it on crappy stuff I don't even care about. Maybe it's just me.
@@mcdonaldm73 I just mean that they have done shopping sprees in there, talk about all the stuff they save a buck on by getting it a HF bc you don't need to always buy high-end tools, and yet they haven't noticed the Hot Knife in the PowerTools section... I just found it a bit shocking But I get what you mean.
“All the safe (stuff) I do is with the insane tools I have.“ I feel the same. I’m more likely to get hurt trying to use my drill for a purpose it really shouldn’t be.
I actually made the 2x4 tree (but with 1x3's) last week (saw it on Reddit, not RUclips, but it's the same one). I routed a shallow channel down the middle of the pieces (inside the tree), and added some green LED lights. Then added a base by only adding the ends of the shown base piece and making a cross piece that fit snugly between those end pieces. My wife loves it.
For your star, you may already know this, but to find the degrees of any polygon you divide the number of sides by 360, that will give you the degrees you need: Examples: 4 sides, 4/360= 90 degrees. For the star 5 sides, 5/360= 72 degrees. knowing you need 72 degrees will give you a perfect star.
Maybe if you cut a small shelf for the middle of the "little tree", it could be used for smaller Christmas knick-knacks? And it might strengthen that joint up too.
Just wanna say, I love your videos and they help me get through a tough time having to lose one of my favorite aunts watching your videos kept my mind off her slow declining Health. as I sat in the hospital or watched it at home. keep up the good work.
Something huge and more complicated? How about a backlit, inset gaming table with cup holders and a topper to make it a dinner table. 8 feet long x 4 feet wide. Drawers in the side for cards, mini figs, map tiles, … Something that serves as a game day dinner table with removable/reversible top to play games on for up to 8 people. Games such as Gloomhaven, Marvel Legendary, Imperial Assault, Ascension Tactics, Marvel United, Brass, Anachrony, Apiary … lots of pieces, lots of space, large play-mats and/or map tiles with room for player boards dice rolling and snacks! Absolutely LOVE your builds and wish I had the time, resources, and talent to do even half of what you can do! Completely AMAZING! Thank you!
It is just amazing how you made all those trees out of wood, I am not a creative person so I cannot imagine making a tree out of actual wood. Great job John
I made 2 of the 2x4 Christmas trees for my wife. One small like that and a bigger one. Cost like $10 for both. Had some red and green paint laying around. She loves them and it took about a half hour
You should build a 7ft tall elf on a shelf and display it outside your house or shop keep all your staff and kids in check over the holidays 🤣🤣🏴🤦👍
I like the tree idea at the end. You don't even have to do it around the mail box that is a good idea. And if you do it right. The first time you install it would take you the longest because after that you could have it already together for the next year.
9:00 - I built this exact set of lights using soda bottles. Run your hole saw in reverse. The teeth moving backwards are sharp enough to cut/melt the plastic. If you run it forwards, the teeth are way too aggressive and will bite you in the hand every time. Ask me how I know.
As a subscriber, I can say on the Christmas tree just Make each piece1/4 inch shorter then assemble 👍🏼. 100% john used these Decorations at his house this year 😅.
😂im unsure if you could have done the first tree any more awkward nor wastefull of material to end up with an abomination😂 however, I had a good laugh especially with the rest of the circus😂😂😂😂
"If you're gunna build dumb shit like this and be me, you deserve these fumes" made me laugh out loud. Thanks for being modern day tim the toolman taylor. Love the channel.
We just finished this video. Props to you for building those wearing that furnace! I thought of a build for you to do. A princess bed for your oldest daughter. Make it look like Cinderella’s carriage. It would be awesome.
Johnny boy looked right at me and accused me of being not subscribed….I can believe you would have such little faith in me! Even after I watched your hidden whiskey stash video
For the tree food tray, I think tracing the inside of it actually made it weaker. If you trace the outside and then attach it it reinforces all the edges and angles
When you were building the giant lights, all I could think about is The Jerky Boys - Sol's Warts. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to search that in RUclips and listen to the first thing that comes up. It's priceless.
I spent most of the video holding my breath waiting for John’s Santa costume to be pulled into either a drill or a saw 😂 workplace safety fail but very entertaining 😀
They say there are 3 stages of a man's life... first is when you believe in Santa, second is when you are Santa, and third is when you look like Santa...
I just made these large Xmas lights for my wife and thought the same exact about the hot knife to cut the 2 liters so I scoffed at it and did it my own way. Took a couple but I found the easiest and fastest way was to use my drill with a wood bore bit, i did a 3/4” hole then used my tin snips to cut the rest of the hole out and it was very easy and fast that way. Ya know, for ur next set of obnoxiously large DIY Xmas lights
the mailbox is actually pretty cool and easy. I'm sure if people have kids, they'd love it and an easy thing to get them involved in a cool little project
I'm a mail carrier, I actually like the mailbox. As long as I can easily see and access the flap and flag, it's fine.
😮😮😢
Those santa sleeves and the miter saw are a terrifying combination.
To get the giant Christmas lights to work properly, you need to use a translucent colored paint, like the kind you'd find in the automotive section, not a normal opaque spray paint.
yup this is it! or the watered down dollar store paint. That seems to work fine as well.

"why are you so mean to yourself, have you heard my dad talk to me?" lol I can relate to that
I like the slowly turning into Santa
Next time you want to do a TikTok project video, build it they way they do it, and then build it Malecki-style. The tree tray could be really fancy with like an end grain cutting board bottom and a nice, strong frame around it.
That's a good idea, there have been a few that seem like a decent concept if they were just constructed in a better way
Even just adding Veneer Edge Banding would work to cover the plywood edges! I'm pretty shocked at his lack of effort and basic wood working additions. It all felt so condescending.
LOL, that montage of Sgt. Hartman holding up the star and yelling WTF IS THAT send my sip of water flying :D
The first segment, cutting the bottom of the "tree"? Yes, extremely satisfying and I loved it!!!!
RUclips is lying to you. I am subscribed.
The editors killed it on this one.

True dat...
If you're fabricating lots of stuff. It's a good task to set new guys. It gives them a chance to show off their geometry skills.
so they should have started with a square 🤔
edit - thank you.. i can now freehand a 5 point star😁😁😁
Exactly! I KNOW he has access to a computer and google image search, which he could've used for a basic template. It's not rocket science.
OMG more Santa gear put on with each build is cracking me up! The mailbox looks cool tho!
The christmas tree mailbox is pretty damn good actually.

@8:24 bruh it's a hot knife, arts & craft tier. 😂 good vid 💪🏽
also used to cut foam plastic in construction. to put floor heating pipes in it :)
Harbor Freight has it for pretty cheap... how do they not know about it?

yooooooo, "hold that for me" and the wood flying, that almost made me choke.
Same. 😂 Literally laughed out loud.
The way you drilled vertical makes it much less sturdy as well. I love making little 2-3 foot ones for holiday gifts.
For the giant lights I think you can buy different color "tint" paint so you can see the light through it a little better!

It’s the opposite. You divide 360 by the number of sides. 360/4 = 90
The last thing you made the weird tree charcuterie board, please put shells in it and put tiny houses it would be so much cuter
I’m with you so satisfying watching those furring strips drop great video as always 😊
Tree tray- turn it into a tree shelf advent calendar with little drawers or just shelves for gifts.
Him saying pop confirmed my appreciation for this channel
The little tree with a led candle indside would be cute window decor for my picture window! Super cute

When I saw John in the Santa coat I was really thinking that Sam was going to be in an elf costume. Not sure if disappointed or relieved
Love seeing the Bossdog glue being used. Buy some for yourself or woodworking friend, you won't be disappointed!
It is just amazing how you made all those trees out of wood, I am not a creative person so I cannot imagine making a tree out of actual wood. Great job John
When the holiday season's over, how about turning your mailbox into a Dalek? Perfect shape!
Not going to lie, it takes me months to years to subscribe to channels, however you called yourself a kid and that's the energy I need in my life
I’d love to see a house decorated with those giant lights.
Whoever does the editing for these videos, props to you. They always make my day haha.
I made 2 of the 2x4 Christmas trees for my wife. One small like that and a bigger one. Cost like $10 for both. Had some red and green paint laying around. She loves them and it took about a half hour
4:43 had me laughing. I was having a bad day on the garage the other day and my middle boy was eyeballing me like WTF. I said don’t be like me.
a thumbs up for sticking to the costume :)
You should build a 7ft tall elf on a shelf and display it outside your house or shop keep all your staff and kids in check over the holidays 🤣🤣🏴🤦👍
4:37 been subbed for awhile... and there enough scraps left over for mini version for your kiddos 😅
If you run a dowel through the top of the bottle you can cut a hole in the bottom with the hole saw and then cut the top way easier
I’ve literally been making those 2x4 trees for family members this year great easy build.
The first track sawing was so satisfying! Next level in fact.
As a maker who was in charge of making the topper for the tree for our first Christmas married I can confirm making stars are a pain in the butt
I like the tree idea at the end. You don't even have to do it around the mail box that is a good idea. And if you do it right. The first time you install it would take you the longest because after that you could have it already together for the next year.

You could make the little tree a wall shelf if you added shelfs on it
As a subscriber, I can say on the Christmas tree just Make each piece1/4 inch shorter then assemble 👍🏼. 100% john used these Decorations at his house this year 😅.
I love the big lights thing but it's so costly for supplies
Okay, your call-to-subscribe got me. Nailed it, down to the stupid grin 😂
Keep up the great content! Your stuff is both entertaining and inspiring!
The Bearded Viking did a cool Christmas tree. And he made a smaller one that fit inside. Check it out.
The Christmas tree looks like a sail!
😂im unsure if you could have done the first tree any more awkward nor wastefull of material to end up with an abomination😂 however, I had a good laugh especially with the rest of the circus😂😂😂😂

Used to do the mailbox thing several years ago. My kids loved it. My nephew hit it with the snow plow and I've just never made another.
10:38 “Focus on B-hole.” That’s your next shirt right there!
Great job, John!
Matthew Peech did a different spiral tree a couple years ago. I think he used electrical conduit for the center
Did we just get blessed with a Lenny cameo??? I think we did and that’s neat😏😏
Ah! Another upload from John. Wonder if it's gonna be filled with some sketchy 💩
Yes, yes it is. 😁💕
Now you can make 2 mini trees out of the scraps
On the wooden trees, use CA glue instead of nails to hold it until the wood glue goes off, quicker and leaves a finish with no nail holes
We just finished this video. Props to you for building those wearing that furnace! I thought of a build for you to do. A princess bed for your oldest daughter. Make it look like Cinderella’s carriage. It would be awesome.

Going forward, "The Malecki Star" will be a Christmas tradition in my home.
For the tree food tray, I think tracing the inside of it actually made it weaker. If you trace the outside and then attach it it reinforces all the edges and angles
The big problem with those giant Christmas lights is, the paint will not hold up. Every item used will chip and crack over time.
I built a set of those Christmas trees from a cedar board. Gave them to family and friends as Christmas gifts.
Watching John build these allows me to see what my wife sees when she asks me to build TikTok and Insta things for her 😂
When you were building the giant lights, all I could think about is The Jerky Boys - Sol's Warts. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to search that in RUclips and listen to the first thing that comes up. It's priceless.
believe it or not this guy is a master woodworker
I built 8 of these for my neighbors for Christmas 15:13. It was a blast and with some 1 inch screws, I was able to string lights on them for cheap
I spent most of the video holding my breath waiting for John’s Santa costume to be pulled into either a drill or a saw 😂 workplace safety fail but very entertaining 😀
I Love John Malecki Videos 💛❤
Santa outfit makes this video 10/10 quality
Just missing Santa's pants
I used the 2 inch hole drill bit on my soda bottles and it was almost bad...almost, lol!
Rumor is that Michael Saylor invested in Alemio Network and will push this project to the moon!
I loved the Owl on top of the tree
Have you ever made a river cutting board? Does food-safe resin exist?
It seems like a great project to start with resin and river.
Finding out you just uploaded a video without having notif. On is a legendary move and best way to start an early saturday
The cutoffs from the firring strips could be center drilled as well to make 1-2 smaller trees.
They say there are 3 stages of a man's life... first is when you believe in Santa, second is when you are Santa, and third is when you look like Santa...

John singing "Forever Young" completed this whole video.
This is my favorite video. The sarcasm is just making me roll on the floor laughing.
I LOVE THE GREAT IDEAS OF THE WOODEN TREES, THE GIANT LIGHT UP PLUGS, THE GIFT BOX TREES, (THINK ON THAT TREEN A TREE!)very interesting🤔😇🤗😎
Here is an idea to the first project: make an epoxy table, then cut that to thin strips, and build the tree out of those
It looks great, well done👍👍👍😎😎🙂🙂🥳🥳🥳
Tip: if you want to draw a perfect shaped star, draw a pentagon first and connect the end point
I was gonna say those are the nicest furring strips I've seen. I worked Lumbar at Home Depot for 3yrs, and ours NEVER looked that good, hahahaha
Mailbox Looks good till the plow truck comes by and blows it apart from a blasts of snow and slush. Lol
You should make a xmas tree cutting board/serving tray. Little Paduk mixed in? Oh yeah
i love that you start in you hat then work your way into the full suit lol thank you for making my day
I am subscribed. Have been for years. Love the crap out of you, your staff, and your content. Merry Christmas!
John, please make some Shop Shades for us smaller folk.
