It's a small convenience to be able to do wireless even if your headphones are wired. I flew for about 46 hours last year, and the wire can get annoying when the wire's getting into your food, when you've got a blanket on and it keeps getting on the wire and pulls your headphones down, when you need to move around a bit or reach for something like your bag under the seat in front of you, when you need to get up to go to the bathroom, etc.
