The show was created by Johnny Speight and was intended to be a satire of British society and its class divisions. However, it quickly became clear that Alf Garnett's views and behavior were not being presented as satire, but rather as a reflection of the views of a large segment of the British population. The show's stellar cast was led by Warren Mitchell, Una Stubbs, Anthony Booth, and Dandy Nichols. All four actors were known for their talent and versatility, and their performances on the show helped to make Till Death Us Do Part one of the most popular and controversial shows on British television. The show was controversial for its use of racial and ethnic stereotypes, as well as its portrayal of working-class life in Britain.
The show was accused of promoting racism and contributing to the rise of far-right political movements in the UK. And yet the actors involved were adored, and they all went on to continue to contribute to the arts in the UK. In this video, we’re taking a look at the four main cast members. We’ll take you through a brief look at their lives and careers, as well as when and how they passed away. We’ll also take a look at the controversies of the show, as well as some of the similarities and differences between it and its American counterpart, All In The Family. So check out this video today, as Facts Verse UK presents: Till Death Us Do Part Cast Deaths - The Whole Cast Died Tragically!

FYI - According to Wikipedia, Pat. Phoenix married Tony Booth shortly before her death in 1986.
Pat. Phonenix is not the mother of Cherie Blair.
Research is clearly an alien concept to the makers of this video.
Una Stubbs starred in SUMMER HOLIDAY, with Cliff Richard, in the early 60s.
Got a cheek calling yourself FACTSverse
" Dixon of Dock Creek" ? Must have missed that one. Why no mention of Una Stubbs's work with Cliff Richard?
Which of them died tragically and what was the tragedy?
That's just what i was thinking, they all seemed to enjoy great acting careers and lived to reasonable old age, the title is somewhat misleading.
Click bait. A massive thumbs down!
All in the family was the USA version of Till death do us part . They got Tony Booth's marriges the wrong way round .
They all died tragically , but tragically you forgot to tell us how , oh and it’s dock green not dock creek
Death is part of life. All this about it being a tragedy is addiction to drama. Some deaths are tragic. All these folk lived long lives, there's no evidence of anything tragic.
There is no hard emphasis on the second syllable of the surname " Garnett ".
Why can't the narrator get the facts right? It was Dixon of Dock GREEN, not creek!
I can't stand American narrators who can not pronounce Hertfordshire.
😂🤫 Claim down the narrator is an American, so we have to make allowances for this !......
Also for your English, I think.
Warren Mitchell moved to Australia and in the 1980s appeared in a number of of mini series. His most significant role was in the Australian mini series “The Last Bastion”, which was about the Australian government’s relationship with the British and American governments in the 2nd World War from 1939 to early 1943. Warren Mitchell played Franklin Roosevelt. Robert Vaughan played Douglas MacArthur and Timothy West played Winston Churchill.
6:44 Dandy Nicholls would have appeared in Dickson of Dock Green, not Dickson of Dock Creek, a show which didn't exist.
It's actually DIXON NOT DICKSON AS THAT DIDN'T EXSIST EITHER
The name of Dandy Nicholls character is pronounced "Else".
One of the best comedy’s ever made - America has never come close to making anything as hilarious as this 😀🇬🇧
Actually, Norman Lear adapted Till Death Do Us Part to become All In The Family, a popular and long running US sitcom which also spawned a few spin-offs. I liked Alf and Una of that classic Findus fish fingers ad.
Warren Mitchell himself was known to have reminded racists who thought he was one of them because of the show, that it was a satire and wasnt celebrating racists but showing them for the idiocy they clung to.
Cherie Blair (nee Booth)'s mother was Gale Smith who married Tony Booth in 1954 and divorced 1960.
Una Stubbs played Mrs Hudson opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the TV series "Sherlock." Also appeared in film with Cliff Richard (Summer Holiday, Wonderful Life) (in truth, to list everything would be epic)
As others have noted, "All in the family" was based on this show. It was an attempt to take the basic premise behind the British show and translate it for an USA audience - the first episode airing in 1971, 7 years after the first episode of Til Death...
Fascinating the age differences in the actors who played this family.
Dandy Nichols was 60 in 1967; Warren Mitchell was 41; yet they didn't seem out of place as a couple. Anthony Booth was only 5 years younger than Warren Mitchell, yet played his son in law well, apparently from a much younger generation; he would have been 36 in 1967, Una Stubbs would have been 30, playing daughter of an actor only 11 years older than she.
interesting.
Yes I know it's all acting plus costumes and make up. but I find those differences and similarities quite unusual.
They all lived a long life so what was tragic about their deaths?
Warren Mitchell did not die tragically he died at 89 of age related illness, Una Stubbs, same, Dandy Nicholls ill health.
Dandy was written out for a while due to illness, went to her sister in Australia, she was the eldest, 20 years older than Warren in real life..
7.56 The Granny is Joan sims from the carry on films.
Quite a few things incorrect in this video, but still worth a look. The writer who created Alf Garnett,Johnny Spaight said of Alf: if you laugh at him you have been entertained ,but if you laugh with him you have been informed
Poorly narrated and is inaccurate in some ways
🤔🤭 Come on, the narrator is an American. So we have to make allowances for this !.
Good grief these videos are ironically some of the most inaccurate on RUclips. Odd that the show is called "Till Death Us Do Part" and is correctly labelled so in the title, yet described inaccurately as "Till Death Do Us Part"(the title of an American movie from 2017) throughout the video!
I wonder if Mitchell or Booth would be welcome in Starmer's Labour Party?
What a load of rubbish about Tony Booth. He married his first wife and had Cherie to her. He married Pat Phoenix shortly before her death in 1986 from lung cancer!
"The Whole Cast Died Tragically!" drop the click-bait.
Dixon of dock green not Creek.
Una was married to Nicky Henson and Peter gilmore
Loved the show, have it on DD
We're happy to know that you love the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
Absolutely classic comedy
Pakki Paddy with spike Milligan
Hertfordshire is pronounced HART-FORD-SHIRE
Antony booth didn't marry pat in the 1960s they married just before she died and his daughter wasn't by her and they didn't divorce she died of cancer not long after they married
Gar-nit not net
Clickbait. Misleading title. 👎
Acting is tragic and comedic
Playing parts which go against
Ones own nature!
he didnt marry Pat in 1960 LOL what crap, it was on her deathbed in 1986
And he doesn't know how to pronounce "Garnett"; it seems like it should be garNett but it isn't . A native Brit would have more idea about these actors and their roles if watching the programmes when they were aired! All death is "tragic" in its way but this word should not be in the title without proper explanation in the video itself!
Clickbait - No tragedies at all.
Michell did the Sweeney as well what about Una's film work with cliff Richards you have missed quite a lot and its Dixon of dock green
British humour is often lost on some of our own or foreigners. The characters of Alf Garnett ( Till death us do part etc) and that of Eddie Booth (Love thy neighbour) are misconstrued as real life bigots. However, my father recognised the true meaning behind the storylines and educated us to see it for what it was at the time. Each, because of their characters "prejudices" were the butt of every joke highlighting the stupidity of racism. Each character was constantly made to look foolish. People should, before being triggered, listen to the whole scripts and plotlines to see that both Alf and Eddie are idiots.
Dixon of Dock Green not creek
Interesting but with the usual lying clickbait in the title.
Nice briefing, all deaths are tragic, so avoid the silly comments from likely British people.
Likely British People, what’s that supposed to mean! Americans shouldn’t be reviewing classic British comedy in any case because they know nothing about comedy and just aren’t funny in any way - even laural and hardy were half British
This information is mostly wrong for example it's ELSIE NOT ELSA...IT'S NOT GAR'NET BUT GARNIT ..ETC
Dock CREEK lol
click bait title
I wish, when Americans comment on things British, that they learn how to pronounce words correctly, it’s sounds silly calling Alf Garnet, Alf Gar net plus many others which make me cringe.
Please, do us a favour.. IF you insist on doing something on BRITISH sitcoms, kindly pronounce the names of the characters correctly.. it was the Garnett family, pronounced GAR-NIT and not GAR-NET... just saying.. I'm sure you like your name pronounced correctly 🙄
ALF Garnett and ELSE Garnett.
" Dixon " was from "Dock Green "not Dock CREEK !
You ned to improve your reading research and reading abilities.
Probably not a good idea for an American to narrate this who obviously knows nothing about the show ...
Garnette ?????? lol Garnet
don’t American narrators ever do research into how to pronounce names and English words in general?
Pure click bait! 👎👎
A classic British sitcom and they use an American narrator who clearly has no idea about the show whatsoever. Add to that the number of incorrect facts what a waste of time.😆
Down vote! Mispronounciations and so many things just plain wrong!
