Thanks for the video I just picked up a 1985 300sd w126, and when I start my car the cruise control clicks non stop.
After all these years of making videos there is still young guys out here who can’t tell you enough how much we appreciate you sharing the knowledge of these classic cars!

I’ve always been fascinated by how these cars managed to do something entirely mechanically that is now all an electronic mess. If I recall at least on the w126 SD’s those were the first cruise control applications that used a rudimentary incline/yaw sensor to modulate speed up and down hill. Impressive video once again Kent and take care out there!

Thanks so much for the video. I just picked up a 1983 240D manual tranny. It's been setting 12 years but only has 130,000 miles on it. Slowly but surely I've been working my way through the squawk list. Now I'm down to the cruise and ready to give it a try.

I the video title says 1981-1985 acturators...What did years 1976-1980 have in this regard?

They used a vacuum operated actuator. You can find more information by googling the subject.

Hey Kent, love your videos and I love knowing I can fix stuff because of your help!
I do have a question for you, I cannot seem to locate my actuator on my car. It's a 1993 190e 2.3l 4dr sedan.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks again 🙂

So… on my newly acquired 1987 560sl. Cruise doesn’t work at all. No response. Thx to this video, I bench tested my actuator. Motor is crunchy sounding so replacing/ordered with a rebuilt one. Wonder what the chances are this fixes the problem ? I’m concerned I may also need the amplifier

What “power source” is he using to test the cruise control unit? 12 volt battery?

Nice tips, Kent! Is the testing procedure the same for the W124?

Also keep in mind if you put LED bulbs on your brake lights your Cruise Control will not work.

Mine will floor the throttle and won’t stop until the brake pedal is pressed

Does anyone know what model of gloves he uses? I would really really like to know. He made a video about them a long time ago but never actually said what they are
