Although they can bite at day light hours real bite starts after sunset. You will find bunch of hard core slavic fishermen just arriving on the spot after dark. My favorite area is Coulee City side of the Lake and in January,2024, when ice was around 9" there after cold front I went out and cought 25 before 2am...Samong you should get into this fishery brother...in russia these fish considered a delicacy...cold smoked properly they are BOM...Blessings to you and your family!
Just watched your newest video of the trout fishing with your buddy. I wish we had a place to fish for white fish. I’ve tried it from a store and one time from a friend who brought some home from a fishing trip. There was no comparison both were good but the fish from the store was maybe half as good as the DIY fillets. Samong could have been a great professional chief, thanks again young man for sharing your adventures. Good fishing and gods speed to you and yours. 🎣🎥👍💯
I've lost so many rods doing that! lol Make yourself a rod older out of 2x4 and pvc pipe. It's hill bill-ish/ghetto-smirthing but it works. Easy to hang in your bucket for storage too. It will save you a heartache.
I'll be honest.. Gave a Thumbs Up for to support..but like I said yesterday, I'm weary of ice fishing. That being said... After watching you on the Columbia and catching white fish...I had to see this one. Now there's a much better chance of me getting on 8 inches compared to the barely 4 inches (which was my indocteran to ice fishing). Nice job
I've heard of people catching walleye there, but it seems that walleye are rare to come by in Banks. I haven't fished Banks enough to know the layout of it yet, but I need to start doing that.
The walleye fishery is great on banks, however the slot requirements (minimum and maximum lengths) can deter some anglers. I don’t fish it as much as I would like to but my younger brother nails them trolling.
Never caught a lake whitefish, but have heard they are quite a bit better eating then mountain whitefish. And I don’t mind them scaled, rubbed in olive oil and sea salted before thrown on the grill!
If you freeze or let your white fish freeze… the meat is mushy or falls apart when frying. You have to keep the fresh fish and thawed to get nice fillets. It’s very good eating! We fish for them all the time in the Midwest.
Great job Sam. Myself and Elyn are headed out your way mid May.(you have to love it when you ask a 8 year old qhay she wanta to do on a epic 3 month road trip and she says go catch Salmon) dad for the win
Definitely will have to try that Lake when I move back. I'd highly recommend some sort of Flasher. The white fish and tulibee out here in the midwest love to chase the bait. So once you start marking and you see them towards your bait, raise it up and those guys will definitely chase the bait. Dead stick works, but it's not as effective as raising the bait in my experience. another thing i'd recommend is doing main line to a spoon (kast master, or another shiny/glow one) then a leader line to a small tungsten with like a wax worm or some sort of bait. The spoon is to draw them in.
Great video! With all the new fishing electronics popping up nowadays, you guys fish for them dead sticking! Good review on the taste test. It encourages me to catch a whitefish. Ciscos/tullibee in my area are full of worms. Need a whitefish for a change
Walleye taste so good it doesn't taste like fish. Ate a LOT of walleye in northern Ontario a few years back. Haven't eaten whitefish, but I know where I believe I can get a bunch. Look forward to trying them.
Any fish in the Salmonidae are tasty afaik. We have a very similar fish in Sweden called Sik, and we call the lake whitefish Canadian Sik. I love eating it warm smoked with some sourcream/mayo/brandy/roe sauce. Too good!
Whitefish is a relative of Salmon, from the same class. And you can easily salt it with black pepper and use it for shushi! There are a few easier ways to catch him than you did
Interesting how you fish for them dead sticking. Here in Wisconsin we are constantly jigging for them. The whitefish here has adapted to eating our local invasive gobies.
Hey Brother Samong, come to Wisconsin and I'll take you ice fishing in our kind of weather. My son caught a 25" white fish from Milwaukee, WI Lakefront. What you did there is NOT even compare to what we did in Wisconsin and in Minnesota.
Hey, that video had some complications to it so I had to take it down. Haven't messed around with it yet, but I could reupload a modified version if I want to.
There's not much to "set up" with an iPhone since that's really all you need. Perhaps a tripod and tripod mount/adapter for your phone. I bought a phone mount that went on my chest years ago when I didn't have Go Pro's yet which allowed me to have "chest-view" like go pros. For hunting, it's harder because you often need zoom. I use my phone with the Phone Skope adapter to film through my spotting scope all the time when hunting.
Caught a white fish two years ago and ate it. Arguably the best fish I've tasted.
just discovered your channel, and absolutely love the content!! thanks for the education!

They are super fun to fish. Try jigging for them with a flasher.
I wish your videos never end.
Whitefish is amazing. My favorite fish to go after for a good meal. Watching from MN. Keep it up!!!
In green bay Wisconsin, it's been probably one of the favorite fishing other then walleye both Incredible tasting white fish
Yes... more ice fishing videos please
Welcome (belatedly) to my home area! I know exactly where you fished and live about 5 minutes away :)
They good! Wish I was better at catching em. That fight is elite too!
Same here, Blake 😂I need to start researching and learning more about how to catch them.
Come to the Wisconsin during the month of January to February and come fish the Whitefish Frenzy over here.
Awesome video
Awesome, never realized banks lake froze over! This is something I need to try for sure.
That was a big one. Even the average size ones are respectable
Whitefish is great eating! Keep them every chance I get!
Awesome 👏🏻 thanks 🙏
Ice fishing is crazy business here in MN. You need a sonar if you plan to do some more ice fishing. Great video, keep em coming
You need a spring bobber for whitefish fishing through the ice could detect each small bite. Great tasting fish.
Great fishing, where is this place?? I want to try it out.
Love white fish. Here in Alaska we let freeze for few weeks then eat frozen raw. Best fish ever

I love how you release a couple videos at a time!
Always watching your video from bicol Philippines...nice fishing......

Awesome video. I'm a Spokane resident and Love the content.
That's advarge size for us in Minnesota. Our trophy size is about 6 to 7 lbs
I love White fish!!!!
I'll be honest..

Looks fun. One of these days I will try ice fishing.
I still have a lot of things to buy to get serious with ice fishing. I feel like a popsicle out there sometimes 🤣
I grew up on banks lake ! Some of the Best walleye fishing in the state! We used to drive the trucks out onto the frozen lake. Great times !
I've heard of people catching walleye there, but it seems that walleye are rare to come by in Banks. I haven't fished Banks enough to know the layout of it yet, but I need to start doing that.

Nice video and looked like Fun catching those white fish, glad they tasted good. looking forward too the next one. 😍🎣👍
Never caught a lake whitefish, but have heard they are quite a bit better eating then mountain whitefish. And I don’t mind them scaled, rubbed in olive oil and sea salted before thrown on the grill!
Thank you for your video.
White fish are fun to fish through ice! They got a good fight in them.
White fish like commotion also. Bounce your Bait off the bottom to create dust clouds to attract them in.
If you freeze or let your white fish freeze… the meat is mushy or falls apart when frying. You have to keep the fresh fish and thawed to get nice fillets. It’s very good eating! We fish for them all the time in the Midwest.

One of my most favorite fish to target under the ice!! 👊✊️ watching from Wisconsin! Come by sometime brother, n I'll take u out!
Cool! Thank you for sharing this Samong. Learned a lot from your videos.
I grew up in Rock Island and have spent a few days on banks lake. You should fish it for walleyes, and small mouth too!
Great video samong!! Those fish make some weird noises outside the water. Looks like it was a great time!! Fish on buddy!
I'm so excited for this video!
💜💜awesome video as always!
This is in my neighborhood 🤙🤙
You need a fish finder. Will help u catch more fish through the ice. Great video and food looks good too
I like to use a small bell on my poles while plunking. Don’t miss many that way. Looks like a fun, but cold, time! 👍
Great idea!

A lot of people smoke them up here in northern Wisconsin/Duluth MN area.
I just need to buy a smoker first. Sounds like smoking is the preferred method to cook whitefish from what I have heard.
I was gonna say, " It takes almost like walleye..." then you did. lol
Any fish in the Salmonidae are tasty afaik.
We have a very similar fish in Sweden called Sik, and we call the lake whitefish Canadian Sik.
I love eating it warm smoked with some sourcream/mayo/brandy/roe sauce. Too good!
Now that sounds delicious! I will keep that in mind next time I get to cook whitefish!
Yes, ice fishing! 8" ice with hand auger, nope! Lol
Whitefish is a relative of Salmon, from the same class. And you can easily salt it with black pepper and use it for shushi! There are a few easier ways to catch him than you did
Nice job all my years ice fishing I never caught a white fish up here in Northern Alberta
Sounds like you're in whitefish heaven!
Some fish is meant to be cook different to have its best taste.. but white fish is the best for the fryer.. keep up the work bro much love from Wis..
I'm my opinion there are rarely bad fish, just bad cooks😂
still ice on davis lake up on hwy 2
Never tried it before, it looked firm
Interesting how you fish for them dead sticking. Here in Wisconsin we are constantly jigging for them. The whitefish here has adapted to eating our local invasive gobies.
I've never fished for them so I didn't really know what I was doing. I just got bored of jigging so I just left my rods 😂
such good tasting fish, awesome video man!
Thanks for watching! 👊
Awesome Video!!!
Thanks for the invite!!
@Samong Outdoors Hopefully we can get together on a couple more adventures this year
I live like 5 minutes from there lol caught a lot of whitefish in my life I’ve always thrown them back hahah never knew they were good eating
I didn't know until this trip either! I know I wouldn't be throwing them back in the water after what I tasted 🤣
@@SamongOutdoors haha I’m gonna have to give them a try now thanks for the video!
Hey Brother Samong, come to Wisconsin and I'll take you ice fishing in our kind of weather. My son caught a 25" white fish from Milwaukee, WI Lakefront. What you did there is NOT even compare to what we did in Wisconsin and in Minnesota.
Hey Samong, what happened to the last video, the one were you catch and cooked the trout
Hey, that video had some complications to it so I had to take it down. Haven't messed around with it yet, but I could reupload a modified version if I want to.
Samong......What is your family background?? Also..... do a hiking video brother!!
Nothing beats crappie, walleyes are close though. 🤤😝
Can't go wrong with crappie! One of these days, I need to prep them all the same and eat them side-by-side to know 😂
@4:08 fist bump to high five matrix 😆
🤣🤣
Hey Samong, what happened with the prior video? Had it watch later queue and disappeared lol
It had some complications to it so I took it down. I could re-edit some of the parts that had complications and upload it if I want.
@@SamongOutdoors ahh gotcha, shame I missed it
They have a commercial fishing industry for Whitefish in the Great Lakes, so they must be decent
White fish is good I always boil them or smoke them tasty
👍whitefish 😋😋
Come ice fish here in the Midwest
What’s a good set up for filming with an iPhone. That’s all I got and I wanna start filming my hunting and fishing.

They may be good fresh, but I heard they don't freeze well. Only good fresh
I'll keep that in mind. A lot of my fish don't even make to the freezer 😂
Oh ya, caught em in the river and smoked up
Fantastic eating, but you better like bones😁
Smoked is on the to-do list next time!
Where is this at???? What State???
Noti gang! 😏
🤑🤑
I don't know how it is there, but I've seen better action if you jig here and there for them instead of just dead stick. But, hey whatever works! 👍
I just like fishing them ..cant find myself to like them...
Very interesting! What don't you like about them?
Now is the time in sturgeon bay Green Bay wi area ....
whitefish is best broil or bake with butter. Poor man’s lobster.
Never go ice fishing without a flasher or under water camera. Just my thought
They smell like cucumber
I guess I should've smelled them a little closer 😅
Whoever said whitefish tastes bad fried, is a crock of bull dookie
LOL. That's what I said! I was like there is no way a fish taste bad fried versus other cooking methods. 😂
Tiny hole small fish
