I dont know if you will see this but one thing that both the really good purrely players at my locals use is the condemned darklord to gain lp in end phase
Siding 3 Dogwood also helps going first if they have an out to Noir, it allows you to survive a turn if you draw into it with Sleepy so you don't get OTK'd.
It really shows what a good mindset you have about this game when it comes to time rules. Instead of judt saying "the time rules suck and I would've performed better if they didn't exist" you're taking accountability by claiming that you just made an oversight and didn't prepare according to the current rules of the game. I personally think the time rules are stupid and they should be reworked but obviously blaming the game for something that's in the rule books isn't productive.
The worse part about ygo times rules is that even if they change it there is no perfect solution that i can think of as of now. increasing the total time limit would make a huge event last longer than a weekend, and a chess-like time rule is too much work since you have to click the clock everytime you ask for a response.

If you want to top events you have to accept all the game rules equally for what they are, and think a way to perform better than the other players. But from a game designer perspective Yugioh's modern time rules are atrocious.
Funnily I had a similar problem in the tournament. I lost both in time to the 1500 burn from Borger and 300 life gain from healer. I thought I would not go to time, so I decided to cut a time win condition, which was a stupid idea

I tried the crossout build but It just couldn't keep up with some on the decks due to this being such an open meta, so I went for the Nimble package in mine with a sprind , gigantic and carrot to stop the books when I try to Yeap. I'm finding it much better as a discard engine. Even just nomaling a beaver is great. i also side the red resonator for time. I would love to get you thoughts on my list if you want.

Thanks for that, i'll try it next time. My version was a "going second fairy variant" trying to abuse both Herald and the Shufflers by having Diviner as a normal summon. The idea is Diviner going second can get you full power Chaos Angel (9 LIGHT "tuner" Trias + 1 DARK Cat) + Friend, OR a shuffler on demand to counter Tear. With the added Fairies i thought Orange Light would be more consistent as a "powerful interruption" since it's both negation and removal. It worked as expected, the only issue was card economy between Orange and the Quick Plays hand gets depleted very fast. But it was definitely good bait and when it went through Chaos Angel really caught people off guard.
It also drew consistently xD Man I would have really loved to come to the YCS since I literally live 5 minutes from the venue, but I was invited to a wedding that weekend :I

I still can't find a practical use for Expurrely Happiness. Like I know what the card does but under what circumstances would you actually make it over Noir? Not turn 1, and most of the time when you can make Noir after Turn 1 you have already burned through your battle phase.
Aside from the time rule issue, weren't you afraid of siding handtraps in purrely going second, considering thrust for dbarrier is most likely a game-ender? Or do you think it is something you have to do?
You kinda have to play hand traps into Dark World or you get hand looped for 4, I'm surprised so many people played with basically no hand traps in main/side aside from Ashes for Lab and Branded. I guess they made a meta call that not many people will play that deck and it worked out.

Quick question, do TCG time rules have extra turns or time after time is called? Cause in OCG tournaments, over time meant 3 extra turns from the current turn when time was called, and life points after 3 turns would be compared to decide winners.
after time ends in TCG, the turn player has to end their current phase in a timely manner, for example if time ends and the turn player is in main phase 1 they have to finish their main phase 1 quickly
For purrely, I like a lot playing: 3 altergeist meluseek 1 of the new tuner that summons itsrlf and reborns One When added 1 sauravis 3 where arf thou And level 1 handtraps So you use the altergeist engine to go for Herald of the arc light, that becomes Teo protections, since It searches sauravis. Also, it's searchable by where arf thou. During time, where arf thou can search for Sunny pixie, which can make you gain 2000 lp When used as synchro material, so you gain enough to also pay for my friend. So you would have pixie, 3 thrust (going 2nd), 3 where arf thou for time, and also have a pretty solid engine tò make your stuff going.
Running Condemned Darklord in the Extra Deck is also a thing. Purrely has a few flex spots and it'll usually gain 1000 in the end phase which pushes you over the edge even accounting for My Friend Purrely.
A guy at my locals runs sprind with nimbles, to make gigantic, then summon red resonator to gain life for time. I'm not sure if that's worth it or not. He also runs a Red/Carrot for an extra negate

He actually explained why herald of the abyss wasnt a problem at all during his stream cuz he just needed to set 1 quick-play spell and chain it to summon purelyly, since lyly and noir have the same typing/attribute, u will just send lyly to the GY instead for the herald effect

Round one of My first regional level tournament I faced tear. They full combod milling agido kelbek chaos ruler(I play ocg) for no joke 35 minutes. I didn’t scoop mid combo cuz I didn’t know if I was supposed to. He also milled 3 of my nat trees( I playd nat runick) so my dumbass thought I could break his board. Then I thought maybe I could deck out his 10 card deck. Unfortunately he had 1 card left, so his okted the turn after. 4 of my 7 games in that tournament went to time, and missed out on top cut because of that. I really feel like there isn’t bough time in a duel. Maybe I should play faster but I fear misplaying so bad that I just can’t.
Well it's not the matter of playing faster but when you know your opponent has everything and playing tear no less, it's better to just scoop then and there to save you more time
Man, I don’t know how you find motivation to play after a loss. Every time a don’t top even a case tournament I feel like I wanna quit and I feel so deflated and it feels all pointless. It makes me legit depressed when I lose, I don’t know how to find the motivation to keep going.
At my locals, there as a game 1 that lasted 42 minutes between Purrely and Rikka. Purrely won game 1. On game two Purely player activated Dogwood and won game 2.
quick effs are fine in modern yugioh but yeah the non-opt + spin (*super* strong form of removal) make noir feel like a ridiculous threat if you don't have the out
Small correction: you are allowed to activate Agido and Kelbek if you're under 5 cards, since both specify "(or their entire deck, if less than 5)". Anyway I'm surprised you used Spellbound as I've always thought this card was trash. Maybe I'll consider it in the future .
Spellbound is kind of funny. I think the card was really bad at its time, but now with the meta filled with a lot of "quick link" (IP especially with upcoming Little Knight, Unchained Monsters in general) and Purrely mechanic, it might warrant some more testing.

All that wording indicates is that, if for some reason, either player has fewer than 5 cards at resolution, they mill as much as possible (easy example is when multiple mill 5 are milled and players have just 5 cards in their decks; you can legally activate all of them). You still cannot activate Kelbek/Agido if either player has fewer than 5 cards in their deck So i think your original thoughts are right.
I’ve played Purrely for many many months now and have learned this exactly. Purrely sucks in a time scenario and there’s nothing you can do about it aside from siding Dogwood style cards. This is I think a pretty big issue with Yugioh right now that affects Purrely a lot. Time rules in Yugioh are some of the worst rules I have ever experienced in a card game. No other card game has time rules that are so bad.

Deck can play around herald with engine (any extra quick play)so if youre uninterrupted youre fine
