This song changed my life. Back in 2000 I thought Metallica was the pinnacle of Heavy Metal. My cousin gave me The Jester Race and introduced me to another world of music.
IN FLAMES at their absolute best. This is probabley not only one of their best songs, but also one of the best metal songs in existance. The lyrics, the guitar harmonies, and the rythym is all beautiful as well intense. In Flames We Trust.
no matter what in flames will always be fucking great... ive seen them three times, and no matter what its always been the best show ive seen...shit they were playing stuff off of these old albums too!!
yeah :) sweden is cool, love norway to. was going to see in flames at hove festival, but changed my mind, since the huanted and in flames are playing at peace and live festival :)
The Jester Race is definitely their best album. And Artifacts Of The Black Rain sounds live very hard! xD I didn´t expect, that Anders voic is still that powerful!
hell yea!! Sweden's finest! there are 2 countries where i wish i was born in, Sweden and Norway. Sweden for melo-death metal, norway for black metal. scandanavians are so lucky
Yeah, that's pretty obvious. And with the direction that they're taking now, In Flames' old stuff will just be a legend that people can only reminisce about.
@Krofius Actully Jesper was the melodic one. You can tell what songs he helped write on the newer albums. And all the old albums guitars where melody focused
It's possible he lost the old voice, but then again people's vocal styles will change over time. In Flames has been around for a good 18 or so years now, you can't expect them to stay the same forever. It's only natural they change, and I hate it when people complain that they don't sound like they used to. They'll add new twists on old songs too, that's only natural too. It's their material, their band, and they'll do what they want with it, not what everyone else wants.
I agree. It's all about moods. I actually find the newer In Flames more aggressive. I listen to the old stuff when I want a different type of aggression.
Prefering the older albums myself, I found that you can hear some deeper growls etc. on the My Sweet Shadow (!) Sticky Fingers performance (uploaded by the same guy here). So maybe he hasn't lost the ability to growl, but adjusted his style in some way - whether we like it or not.
Anders can deep death growl... If you check out or buy the Used and Abused CD of live concerts you can hear he does a lot of the song in deep death growls in the stickyfingers tour. Oh, by the way. In Flames are on their way to being mainstream, the first tip over the edge was "Come Clarity" imo.
@Zantar17 You know Björn is very melodic too as well. On the old albums In Flames tried sounding to much like Iron Maiden, not that I mind but they are way more original nowadays, like it or not.
Expect a lot of post-clayman. They usually do a balance of new songs and their 'hits' from their older albums (Bullet ride, pinball map, jotun, episode 666, etc.). I don't think they play artifacts anymore, shame since it's so awesome.
I agree with you a hundred percent. Although, it can mean a change in musical style. Mainstream isn't a good or bad thing, but there is a difference between changing and experimenting. Again, change is not a bad thing either. It's all in the eye of the beholder, of whether it is good or bad, and completely down to personal preference. There is always more music to listen to, like Insomnium for instance. They have changed, and in my opinion for the better.
@ArakoGW It is actually deep compared to them, but they use gutturals which is another thing. Maybe they aren't as deep as Bloodbath, but they sure aren't ''regular growls'', they're deep.
I just don't get why many "metalheads" claim that songs like Delight and Angers or Mirror's Truth are melodeath at itse best yet they don't seem to enjoy old stuff like this. ..which is actually melodeath.
So you're saying anything before Reroute To Remain? I started noticing the difference in sound when Clayman came out... wasn't as aggressive as before... then Reroute To Remain released and I was like... wow they changed. Didn't really bother me though... I liked some of the songs off RTR, but not the entire album. Artists change their sounds eventually... at least they didn't stray that far away.
This is my favorite In Flames song!

The Jester Race is definitely their best album. And Artifacts Of The Black Rain sounds live very hard! xD I didn´t expect, that Anders voic is still that powerful!

@Krofius Actully Jesper was the melodic one. You can tell what songs he helped write on the newer albums. And all the old albums guitars where melody focused
YEAH! YOU GO GIRL!

old stuff + new vocals = win!
they are playing at the hove festival this summer dude :)
I agree. It's all about moods. I actually find the newer In Flames more aggressive. I listen to the old stuff when I want a different type of aggression.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Dont talk about a Metalcore Band called "Parkway Drive" in a In Flames video.....damn!!!
Prefering the older albums myself, I found that you can hear some deeper growls etc. on the My Sweet Shadow (!) Sticky Fingers performance (uploaded by the same guy here).
So maybe he hasn't lost the ability to growl, but adjusted his style in some way - whether we like it or not.

he went away
Anders can deep death growl... If you check out or buy the Used and Abused CD of live concerts you can hear he does a lot of the song in deep death growls in the stickyfingers tour.
Oh, by the way. In Flames are on their way to being mainstream, the first tip over the edge was "Come Clarity" imo.
Greatest shit they've ever done.... Old In Flames We Trust!!
they should re-record this album again, that would have been soooooo awesome !
Wow, I just came!
@Zantar17 You know Björn is very melodic too as well. On the old albums In Flames tried sounding to much like Iron Maiden, not that I mind but they are way more original nowadays, like it or not.
