First time I saw this, I was like "i've gotta go check out this band Jungle". Two weeks later I was at a Jungle concert here in Austin Texas. Thanks to Ren. Still can't decide which version of BackOn74 I like better. Doesn't have to be a winner. Both great.

Ren's had a really bad few months with his health. He had a relapse and lost his sight in one eye for a few days, and will likely have the same problem ongoing whenever he has a flare up. He injured his eye while filming the video for his latest song 'Slaughter House' earlier this year, and this autoimmune flare up triggered his immune system to throw out the same symptoms. He's going to need to go back to Canada in January for more intense treatments, but he needs to get rid of an infection first, which so far is resisting treatment. 😔
As someone else commented, from the initial idea to filming the video, it took him 10 days to arrange it all. Super, super talented. The outfit he's wearing is from his multi award winning Money Game 3 video. That's just over 9 minutes of pure genius 😊
The latest song and video 'Slaughter House' is a doozy. Think Tarantino crossed with Clockwork Orange for visuals, while the music itself has about six different genres all mashed up, along with his usual spattering of pop culture, religious references, and even Greek mythology. His brain makes MY brain expolde 😅😅😅

This is my first time hearing Ren. He's very good! I don't know any of today's artists. Thanks BPs and Tundiel.❤❤
I found him almost two years ago and have become a 48 year old fangirl 🤣🤣🤣 He's an absolute gem. Plays multiple instruments, writes his own songs, sings, raps, masters and produces the majority of his music. Not to mention directing his own videos. And the best bit is that he's a genuinely nice guy that most people can relate to.
You might like his work with 'The Big Push', a band he was part of for several years. They mashed up songs from Black Sabbath to Bob Marley, and have original songs, too. Lots to explore, if you so choose!

@Every_Day_islike_Sunday you're welcome! My dad enjoys The Big Push as they have that old school 'proper band' sound to them. Most of their stuff is live, too. Ren's covered almost every genre you can think of, so I'm sure you'll find something to like 😊
@tundiel it's refreshing to hear a modern day artist who isn't cookie cutter autotune crap. I'ma bit of a music snob. After the 90's, i just couldn't find anything good or original. The last time i explored a new artist was Raury and that was at least 10-12 years ago and he kind of dropped out of sight. I just gave up. So thank you for restoring my hope! ❤️

The fact that this went from thought to shot in 10 days is amazing. There's a great BTS for this and you can see the entire process. I love that Kai kept the MiaB Bass throughout the song. The RETAKE is when Ren puts his own spin on the song and gives you naughty bars on the breakdown.
