When I was a kid in the 80's my parents would do their annual summer vacation in San Diego. It was 1988 we stayed at the Catamaran Resort Hotel. Most of the time my family would stay in the Hotel Circle area in other years. I never forget somewhere not to far off from the Catamaran Resort Hotel my sister and I saw "Die Hard" in a theatre. I thought this hotel was awesome as a kid. I know we stayed at it one more time possibly two in the years ahead. I remember for sure we stayed at it in 1994 and I watched from the hotel room the last game played in the 1994 MLB season as it was cut short due to the strike. I really liked the lobby area where people checked in - I would always look at the catfish in the water and enjoyed the running water sounds. Now I am 41 years old. If I can meet someone to trust and love - this would be where I would venture off too. I have always worked and made a lot of sacrifice when young so that I can enjoy life when I am older. This was and is a fun place and brings back memories! Thank You for posting!
We actually like the garden view rooms. The tower rooms face the ocean but the ground level rooms in the two story building would be my preference if you want an ocean view. The gardens though are really incredible and the beach chairs and umbrellas gave us enough of a view of the water. Hope that helps.
What are your thoughts about this Resort? Does it feel like a resort? Wife and I are planning a trip this December. What are some tips if there is any?
Very much feels like a resort. We felt we could just stay at the property. But, there is really great bike path. And not far away are good San Diego attractions for short day trips. But you can spend two enjoyable days at this property, not go anywhere else and finds lots to do.
Great video..
Great video - brings back a lot of memories for me of when I stayed here over 20 years ago. Thanks for sharing!

Hello. We would love a view of the ocean as in your clip. What would you recommend asking for when booking?

Are the pools open year round?
