Love you all! I appreciate your support!
I'm getting mine in few days, can't wait. When I first got Diabetes as a child I was using syringes can't believe how far technology has come. I'm so grateful
Hello. Are you in America?
The limit being to set lower is great, now it is realistic to get nondiabetic sugar levels from a insulin pump
Fantastic review, thanks! I'm starting my MyLife Loop journey the coming weeks and you got me really exited
Hi Noor, How was your first week with MyLife Loop?
Thanks
Thank you my friend!
Thank you for this video. As another myLife Loop user the most frustrating thing is that you still get alarms at set BGL readings when your BGL is heading back towards range (ie alarm at 3.8 when coming up from 3.1). I understand the alarms when falling out of range. My other comment is that I believe the CGM accuracy is actually very good but measuring from interstitial fluid, rather than capillary blood, gives a lag so the reading is what your BGL was 20 minutes ago. Unfortunately we are still waiting for the iOS version and "the second half of 2023" is long gone - we are still waiting Ypsomed!
I am in Australia, I chose this product for my son, it will be installed in May, looking forward to it. Hope they can develop Apple's mobile phone system soon, in order to install this, I have to pay extra money to buy a new phone. I think that's the worst part of it.
The last official statement from November said that it is not available for iOS before the second half of 2023. Maybe buy an small older, used Android phone that's on the supported list and use it for the pump only. So your son can use his iPhone for everything else. I own a waterproof Pixel 5 and very happy with it as a “pump phone" because it's small and slim. Btw. it has a nice camera also.
I have been putting off getting this pump for 2 years now, waiting for the iPhone compatibility. I may just have to start my journey, using two phones. That’s a lot of gadgets and full pockets. I am also in Australia.
Did you buy a second phone? What happens if say i accidentally left it at home?
Fabulous video, I'm so glad this is working well. It may be my next move, currently I'm on DASH/ AAPS/FSL2.
My top tip, think extended carbs rather than extended bolus, not all carbs result in an insulin dose, the algorithm may be asking for carbs!
This is what I want for my son. Thank you for your videos, they really help.
how did it go for your son, are you guys satisfied with the product? would love a repsonse! since im thinking of getting one
I love everything about the Ypsomed system (particularly the Orbit Micro infusion set), but cannot have my phone with me at all times at work. I wonder how well this pump would work when the auto mode is turned off; have you seen any data on how well it works in that mode? I've heard that Ypsomed had paired with a US company to enter the market here, and am disappointed to hear that Lilly backed out. I was looking into this pump because I'm at the end of my warranty on my current pump and insurance will approve a replacement.
hello
I have medtronic 780G, my HBA1C is 6.9% but I'm only 65% in target... So my doc suggested to change to this pump that would be better for me to deal with many sport activities, always late to add my meal glucides...
so after a year, what do you think of this system ?
Bedankt
Thank you!
Thank you for this review! I have the same reservations about using my phone for Diabetes, would much rather it was built into the pump display
It was interesting to watch your video and find out an alternative to my closed loop setup.
Do you plan to record another one about xDrip and AndroidAPS? They occupy the same niche and have a similar smartphone-based architecture.
I noticed that you mostly limit your reviews to commercial or officially approved loop systems only. Personally for me that’s not an argument.
Frankly speaking, CamAPS has much more user-friendly interface and a good balance between the number of features and usability. On the contrasting side, AndroidAPS is so complicated to configure that I have an impression it was created for programmers only. And this thing will be much more suitable for average users and have about the same number of controls as their washing machine.
Very informative. Thanks for doing this!
Very exciting. I do think your take on the Libre 3 calibration is a little off. While it may not allow calibration on the device, I don't believe there is anything stopping the makers of the software from allowing you to calibrate, and using your calibration data to refine what the sensor is providing. I use DiaBox today and that has the same ability for both LIbre 2 and Libre 3, presumably solely through software.
thank you for review, the only thing t1d community is missing now to really "close the loop" is to have glucose pump to address lows
That would require another infusion set which is already super expensive
That would be glucagon mate.
In the Netherlands this artificial pancreas is already created and some people use it. Unfortunately it has to be tested through and through and who knows when it will get to the market.. It's from "Inreda" if you want to read about it 😊
Great video , subscribed ❤
your videos are great! probably the only person i found who has tested both the tandem and the ypsopump...would you have a favorite between the two that you absolutely recommend?
I know you didn't ask me... But personally, I'd recommend the Ypso pump. It can keep you much lower with the CamAPS loop and you probably won't fall into low glycemia. Plus the system learns, it really responds great to changes. I eat everything from chocolate cake to pizza to fruit, and still get 95% of the time in range, HBA1C around 44.
@@benjaminlevicek3546 thank you so much! did you try both as well? i believe the tandem does not really learn and am happy to hear the ypsopump deos. nonetheless, i am put off by the algorithm being in the phone and not the pump itself. it's brilliant in theory, but so much can go wrong with the phone without the companies being responsible for any of it. at the end of the day, they should both be very good pumps and i will be happy either way, feeling lucky just by having access to them! :)
I started using this setup a week ago and have been having serious hypers - the weak spot of all automated solutions is always the actual hardware part IMHO, not only the CGM sending maybe less than accurate data, but also the pump/infusion set/insulin/skin complex. I had tons of issues with Omnipod DASH pumping insulin directly into its patch instead of my body for example. No software solution will ever work if it does not know how much insulin actually reached its destination...
It's still a long way until everything always works for everyone ;)
Great video, love your work. Have you any knowledge on how much the phone battery is drained by myLife Loop + Dexcom G6?
I like the ability to change the glucose targets as I have to force my tandem to give me more insulin to bring the blood glucose level below 6.1 when I sleep.
I do however have 1,5 years left on the t:slim. So maybe we have some even better pumps by then.
Hi! I found this video so helpful as I'll be going onto this system in 2 weeks with the libre 3. I did want to ask , I will of course be putting in my initial carb ratio , insulin sensitivity ect . Over time you said the system will adjust this , will it actually change the base line settings? Say I was to put 1unit per 10g of carbs for all times of the day and over time the system learnt I needed more/less would it actually appear differently in the settings and change to say 1unit per 15g of carbs visibly in my settings for me for when I'm in auto mode and doing it myself?
Hi this is an excellent review. Thanks very much for sharing. You said that the mylife Loop is available in Canada. Just wanted to let you know that Health Canada has not approved mylife Loop yet. We are waiting very patiently though 🙂
Thank you so much for your feedback. I apologize for the mistake. I will fix it ASAP. Thank you again for the input!
Great video. May i ask you if the CamAPS is better than the AndroidAPS? Or is the AndroidAPS?
Díky a pěkný večer
PS: zpětně se omlouvám, že jsem začal psát Česky
Question , Hi I use this setup for about a year now, and I am really looking for the next step where Mylife CamAPS FX wil be available for IOS and with integration with Dexcom G7. There is little too info on this also camdiab nor ypsomed give information on this. To do know more with your contacts?
Hi Tom,
very good video. Question, when you want to give a dual bolus for meals. For example, I want to eat 6 BE a 72 grams. I have seen that I cannot adjust a combined or delayed bolus, that mean 50 % instantly and 50 % delayed over the phone.
With the pump I can do this, yes but over the phone?
How can I solve this issue? For example I thought about give the insulin for 3 BE instantly over the bolus calculator and the remaining 3 BE over the function "meals and snack".
I hope my question is clear.
Best regards,
Oliver
This is somewhat similar to diabeloop, which is not commercially available. They are getting me off diabeloop and putting me with the tandem closed loop due to roche not producing insight pump anymore.. i wish I had this pump as an option
Is the price not available? I couldn't find it online. How does it compare (price wise) to other pumps?
THIS PUMP IS A GREAT OPTION FOR THOSE OF US WHO WANT A1C'S IN THE 5 RANGE-PROBABLY GOING TO BE A WHILE BEFORE WE GET THIS IN THE U.S.
how long do you get out of a battery? and can you set up profiles for weekend vs weekday (without having to manually switch every week?)
Question: I have Freestyle Libre 2. What is the little electrical outlet plug for? Am I supposed to plug the monitor into the wall outlet to keep it charged? I can't find any information on what I'm supposed to use the plug for.
Hi . Plz can you talk about how can we increase weight while i am type 1
How often do you get an autocorrect bolus? Is it every few minutes? Someone told me it's 1 per hour with this closed loop. But seems to be wrong if I watch your video. Thank great info!!
Great video as always! The future is NOW!
Just wondering where the iOS support is?
is it going to be available to IOS apple at any time?? :(
Thanks for your reviews! They are very helpful. Currently, due to pregnancy, I’m thinking of switching to a pump, to ensure the best glucose levels for the baby to minimize any risks. My Hba1c is around 38-42 and I my type is undefined (I do not fit the boxes, so I’m diagnoses type 2/Lada 50/50 to enable all kinds of treatment. I am deciding between the ypso pump and omnipod 5 (if it will be available in NL). What I liked about your review of the ypso pump is the aggressiveness of the pump to maintain almost normal glucose levels. What I do not like about the pump as a women is to wear a pump with the infusion set. (But I have no experience, with pumps). In that way the omnipod 5 seems more comfortable. How is your experience with the omnipod 5 in terms of wearability and aggressiveness? Of course, I am willing to exchange comfort for better glucose levels for the baby. Another plus of the ypso pump is that it works with Libre 3, which I think is for me more accurate and comfortable, than the G6/G7 (provided you manage the first 24-48 hours, where it sometimes gives falls hypo’s).
Any other comments or experiences of users are welcome as well! Many thanks all!
I’ve been using pumps from 2007, and can say this is the best brand I’ve used. My sugars are 85% in range compared to t-slim where I was about 65%. The set doesn’t bother me but I am very used to wearing a pump. In my opinion this would be the best option for pregnancy due to the algorithm but that’s just my Opinion. Don’t let the idea of wearing one bother you, you’ll honestly get used to it
Was sagen denn deine Erfahrungen die Ypsomed oder lieber die Tslim x2 im Verbindung mit dem Dexcom?
Thanks Tom. Ive just selected another x2 pump. I should have seen this earlier. Are u still using this system??
Have you ever used MEDTRUM which is smallest tubeless pump system ever used. Can this APP able for any system?
If you had a choice between 1. Ypsopump
2. Medtronic 780G
3. Tandem t:slim X2
Which would you choose?
Getting mine 2nd May. Really looking forward to it. Do you take it off when you shower?
I run the sytem a week now. Time in range 50 % to 93 %...Daily Insulin from 150 Units to 100...LOL
That's great! How is the pump and phone battery life with mylife loop enabled? Pump goes from 1 month to ...?
Thanks 💐
Sounds like the technology still needs a few more years.
Hello, I use this app from several days and I have some questions. Sometimes the pump stops basal at 0%, but the blood sugar is 12 for example.
I tried to use Boost and Ease-off, but there isn’t visualisation on the pump so I’m not sure that the app works.
What do you think? Do you look what happened on the pump when you use boost and ease-off?
The main problem for me that the pump stops basal at 0% but the blood sugar is 12 mmol/L and I don’t know why. Do you know how to correct this?
Thank you, where can i get it in Africa
Is it available in USA yet????
Nice stuff
Fantastic video as always! I was disappointed to hear it's not available in the US as I've been looking for an affordable closed-loop system and hoped this might be it. For those who do have access though, I'm wondering if the monitoring app is available for iOS? I have an Android but my wife uses an iPhone and I'm currently using the Freestyle 3 so she has the LinkUp app on her iPhone and it works seamlessly with my Libre app on the Android.
Thanks for all the time and research you put into sharing insights like these with the rest of us!
Day 1 for me after 4 years on a Tslim!
are you doing good with the ypsopump so far?
same question how do you fins the change.
Do you have to pay for the CamAPS FX app for life ?
Hello Tom, thank you very much for your detailed video. I due to pump change this year and was thinking about Ypso but I still have doubts. For example, you are travelling and there a situation where you can't recharge your phone and it run out of battery charge, then what? You stack then right if you are using Ypso pump. Can you please comment on it?
Great question. I totally understand your doubts. If you can't charge your phone and the phone is out of battery the pump will automatically switch into manual mode and will dose the pre-programed basal rate. The same happend when the pump or CGM looses signal. In my opinion it is OK if it happens for a couple hours from time to time but if you are often without battery it is not ideal. Hope this helps.
Thank you Tom, for your replay. As I was reading your replay a question pop in my head. The data from CGM doesn't display on the screen of Ypso pump? Is that correct? I was asking about travelling as there are some places in the world where electricity is not always available.
@@JStasia Correct. No CGM readings on the pump screen. Only on the phone.
I think it is disadvantage. I would add to the pump features that it could display your CGM and work without a phone because you never know what could happen 🤷♀️
Would the freestyle libre 2 sensor work in this loop?
no
Great video.
I just think life is far easier and TIR higher when you just use tresiba(once daily) and then Afrezza(inhalable for mealtimes and highs) along side a GCM. Then you can ditch the pumps
I always thought these closed loop systems are for people who can not get well regulated with manual treatment. That was the reason I got a cgm from my doctor. May be different in the Netherlands. Sometimes I now read that people who have good levels before with their manual actions, get the closed loop system, and it disregulates their glucose levels! For me the difference between both is so huge. With the manual treatment I am sick all the time and have high levels, with closed loop I often feel energetic and just able to function way better.
do this system work whit G7
Now Libre2 is sending data by bluetooth (no scanning needed) does it work with this app?
no
I wished if it was available in india and cost effective for an indian
Does this work on iOS yet?
Finally!
Very interesting video Tom. Always good when there are other choices for users to choose from. Seeing the myLife pump relies on the smartphones calculations, how much of an extra drain is it on the smartphone battery?
I'm on Dexcom G6 and Tandem closed loop and very happy with it. But you are correct that being able to calibrate the sensor is very important. I have experienced when the sensor is falsely reading very high (always after a new sensor) and the pump has put in a correction bolus. I did have alarms set for high glucose readings so I was able to compensate for the error and also recalibrate the sensor.
Being in the USA, I'm guessing the FDA will be leery of being able to set the glucose level too low as you demonstrated.
I am using the system since last November with a Pixel 5 and the energy daily spend on the app alone compares to 20 minutes screen time of the display. Since I wear 2 phones, one small for the pump alone and a big one for all the other stuff, I can't tell how much shorter the overall running time would be.
Dove trovarla in lingua italiana
Still no app for ios, after so long time.
Yes, I know. So frustrating!
the best cgms can be off by a minimum of 15 points in the best of circumstances, plus there's the delay. These new fully automated pumps don't feel right to me. I believe the algorithms and computational power are ready for prime time and have been for awhile. It's the cgm, I never usually rely on a cgm reading when I bolus because of the afore mentioned limitations of cgms. To really make a device like this effective for most diabetics, we need a cgm that can test actual blood and not interstitial fluid.
this pump is horrible
deze rommel is niet eens te KOOP laat staan te verkrijgen !!!!!
