“I have to spend at least $35,000 to get this thing framed.”
Corey: I'll give you a thousand
Chumlee: Meth stare
I love how they ask what they want for it before they call the "expert". So they can tell them on the phone what to say its worth..... 🤬
they ask first in case the person is stupid and doesnt know, like wanting £50 for something that is worth 1000's. but yeah I have no doubt they tell the expert as well.
I've bought original comic book art many times and that assessment was pretty spot on by the expert, even if he wasn't well versed in the genre.
Not really. It could very easily have been a competent artist doing a scam.
He should have brought samples of the artist that the guy claimed it was then compared styles. Inking, cross hatching, etc. Also the artists work would be available to see online. The only thing he verified is that it is a page drawn in a comic style. It needs its authenticity to be verified. It might be a copied page or a composite forgery. Look he points at the blue pencil preliminary sketch. So what. That proves nothing. He was useless.
Where did you buy your art from? Is the type depicted here called something specific? Like I know in animation it is called A "production cel"
It's not a splash page or a cover, not sure it could be in the range of 1,500 - 2,000 dollars
calls a fine art expert in instead of a comic book expert, yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
Negative Ives
It is a hard one for them to call because it's not a comic book so the safest bet would be an fine artist. If it were me i would have them both in.
I can see why they called in a fine art expert instead of an actual comic book expert. This was more of an art work, than really a "comic", so would make sense to call in Brad, since that's what he specializes in.
same thing
They did after the guy sold it for what Brett said it's worth and got the real worth
It's original art. Not original comic. They did the correct. That piece of art is worth $2k
His face when he said it's worth 1200 lol
lol he looks ugly asf
@@stevenroberts9097 y cause ur ugly to
Was going to say the same thing😂😂
Notice at the end of the negotiation, Batman intimidated Corey into paying the $1000 price.
Top 5 dumb things not to do!
1. Take a comic panel to a pawn shop!
2. Sell a piece of art below it's value!
3. Ask appraiser of fine art to appraise comic book art!
4. Sell any art to people who can careless and only see dollar signs!
5. Not getting a second opinion on the art work!
I will say this; If I had that artwork
*I WILL NOT SELL IT AT ALL!*
I love how everyone that watches pawn stars think they instantly know what there talking about 😂😂😂😂
Hey, I read comic books as a kid, that makes me more than qualified to be a RUclips comic book professional.
It’s probably what it was worth at the time but it’s definitely worth 5 times more now
This guy looks like the kid off polar express
bwahahahahahaha
Good one
I thought he looked like Brian Littrell lol
ill bet he has a race bed
The seller always pretends to be thinking very hard over a deal they will definitely take. Its so funny.😆😆😆
I can't stand Corys damn handshake.
It way over the top 🤣
You ain't cool enough to understand it kid!😎😎😎
Why have you subscribed? Ben
Yooooo I’ve been thinking the same thing 😂😂😂
Yep it’s annoying when someone does that
Was prob worth more, they shoulda gotten a comic book "expert" not an artist
Rachelle Jackson they should of just called ghostbusters.
Rachelle Jackson they should have got both artist and comic experts would be helpful
+Jonathan Dutra the thirst is real bruh, get yo ass some water...
Rachelle Jackson in
Rachelle Jackson agreed. I think should’ve been at least 1800
Rick would of said..." I'm thinking like 300 bucks. Look I understand he said between 1,200 and 1,500 but thats on a good day and factor in auction prices which Im going to have to pay a percentage... Plus I have overhead its going to sit around for a little while maybe a few months. I'm going to have to get a frame for it and nails are really expensive nowadays.. The best I can do is 350 take it or leave it.
Forreal
bmillerdrums he only takes really expensive things to auctions.
Mr. Brown, Mr. Wayne and Mr. Parker got along famously.
0:05 I used to have that book. A Spider-Man and Batman crossover one shot that specific page is Spider-Man and Batman consulting in the Batmobile on carnage who has teamed up with the joker. Drawn by Mark Bagley.
I Love Mark Bugley's Artwork.
"Chum, d'you wanna write him up?"
"Er, actually why don't YOU write him up, Corey? You got something else to do? You just made the deal; why don't you assume some responsibility and conclude the sale yourself? For fucksake..."
You know it's scripted right? As in they have a predetermined action set prescribed. They're personalities written a specific way. Conclusion: It's not real my dude. It's a TV show.
Pause at the end "OK, I'll do $1,000" came from his dad.
Blind leading the blind, the fact they have 1) Spider-Man and Batman TOGETHER which are 2 of the most popular characters from 2 publishers / universe, 2) ORIGINAL art 3) by Mark Bagley, make this highly collectible I would bought it at 2k at a heartbeat.
Rob Bruce should work for Pawn Stars as "I got a guy that knows about this"
The expert is as confused as cory 😂
The Corey handshake AGAIN UGH
chum the cashier lol
Sounds so nice
Corey knew what he was doing. Just wanted the guy to say 1000
Batman, Batmobile, the Joker, and Spider-man in one published 25 year old comic. That has got to be worth 10k.
I have an expert that’s experienced on comic books
Batman and the joker walks in 🃏
I actually love that book.
That was worth 750 on a good day.
Who, your mom?
Not even, Mark Bagley isn't an artist that commands a ton of money for his work. His spiderman work on the market is especially over saturated too. That page might have fetched 300 or so on e-bay. For 1500 you can get a double page splash page with multiple characters etc. by Bagley.
+Richard Nevarez fuck no Batman alone on the page would be over then 400
Are you high? You obviously have no clue what you were talking about, firstly it's retro already bringing it to 500, it's spiderman and batman for the rarity of that it would be 1200 and for Bagley it would bring it to 2-2.5k+ I know this because I buy, and if I were to buy this I would pay over 2k. But then again I make great money
+venomchris nobody cares what you make american psyco wanna b.
It’s probably worth 5 thousand now
Corey is such a lowballer
"I know it is already framed, but I need to frame the frame and then frame the framed frame."
And then he could possibly be framed for it.
@@Dunning-Krugereffect You just made my head explode
What is this type of comic book art called? I am very interested in purchasing some
I gotta Fantastic Four collection that starts at #8
Of all the things I've ever seen on the show this is probably the one I'd want to buy. Plus I could actually afford it! Ha!
"dare i take a thousand" - translates to i wouldve sold it for 900
Chum....lol
I was thinking 1000usd... Yeah spot on
0:52 Which direction is corey looking?
Alot of heros crossed paths
Dr.EviL yes " DR.EviL"
Groovy Baby!.......
That was so cool and i kinda like this stuff so the art guy downplayed this too make Corey some money
Seller looks like actor Leland Orser
Batman is LITERALLY the G.O.A.T.
I remember this seller sold captain cook coin for $ 5000 (he asking for $50 at first) 😂
looks like the lead singer of Nickelback is appraising art now. cool.
i think we should have a flash mob of folks go into the shop and start asking for a particular item and haggle to a very low price with them.
good luck with that. you have to wait in line just to get into the shop
This guy's been in before lol
Best comic book ever written:
Silver Surfer Requiem.
Yes it beautiful
Only to be hung on the wall. No frame needed. Not unless Big Hoss doesn't like the frame.
Unlimited access is the name of the comic!
Jeff myer head honcho for tuff n uff production badass
but,its the clone spidy!
This is definitely worth 10-5K in my book
Ur book is quite generous..
Should've taken the $1200 and run
I would have gave him the 1200 without even thinking about it.
lol.... i will give my whole month money for that .......2000 pounds. i wanna buy this,as a huge fan
*puts the art in a $8 picture frame
Warning: The memes are coming.
No memes came boi
Why is the show not called i have a buddy or let me call my buddy?
The guy was asking for a low price to start they should have just countered him without bringing in the expert
That guy sounds like stan lee
1000 was high.
Linustechtips hillbilly cousin!!
This guy was on here before
Imagine if Marvel and DC did more collaborations like this. Hulk and Superman, Thor and Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Iron Man, Captain America and Flash, etc. That'd be awesome.
YTWarrior100 they did
+DiddleDorp What other ones did they do?
Just look up Avengers vs JLA.
YTWarrior100 Avengers vs JLA was ehh okay on some of the wins except obviously Spider-Man vs SuperBoy seriously Spider-Man won that fight which is ridiculous.
$1000 feels high for this.
I disagree. Only one in existence and the Batman/Spider-Man crossover is an important event. Even if the comic itself isn't worth much. In any event, you hang on to it for a while before you sell it.
why would you not try an auction first rather than a pawn shop that's just asking to lose money
i hate theyre "Risk" excuses when they can still clearly make money
Seller kinda sounded like Stan Lee...
Some set ups are obvious....this is one.
My grandmother had all the first edition Marvel Comics I hope whoever cleaned them out of her house got what they were worth but I doubt it
Everybody has a story like that. What does 'first edition Marvel' even mean ? Is there a second edition of Amazing Fantasy # 15 ?? That doesnt even make sense. What comics are you referring to ?
@@Boxingbear first edition that's what I'm talking about it doesn't make any sense you don't make any sense but why bother with people like that
Why not 950
And now they are teemed up.
There are no issues ofUncanny X-Men #94 that rate higher than a 9.8 on the Comic Guaranty LLC grading scale. As of June 1, 2013 there were 18 copies that had been graded at 9.8. A copy with a 9.6 rating was sold for $4,450 on eBay in 2004. In 2010 Walter Durajlija of Ontario's Big B Comics sold a copy for $26,500.
... We have this in New mag condition just sitting around my Uncle's house, waiting to be sold
Interesting... What's so special about xmen 94?
Big Hoss has some interpersonal issues.
Why do pawn stars guys act so condescending and douchey to guys who bring in things related to comic books?
Because they are douches.
they're condescending to pretty much everyone.
Because they're grown men reading about superheroes dressed in tights
Because they're desperately trying to look cool. You'll notice anytime somebody brings something star wars in Corey will announce he's never seen the movie even though nobody's asked? He tries hard go distance himself from what he considers as nerd. I wonder if he was bullied in school for being a nerd lol
I think 2/3 of what the shop is pricing an item is more than fair on all items. It's when the shop low balls people that irritates me most.
Cross over Confirmed , at some point DC and marvel will make movies
Disney Owns Marvel, at best we might get a hint of DC in a Marvel movie?
$800 😭
It was framed though
Why would they call in an art expert?
Comic-Conmen.
Yall keep your funko pops so in 60 years you can resell them here. 😂
It's worth way so much that's dumb there's people that would pay 3 to 6
Dude, that was such a fair asking price and Corey still had to be a jew about it.
Good excuse, Corey. 🙄
Tales to Astonish #27 Origin and 1st appearance of Ant-Man
What's It Worth?
Under-valued Silver Age key.Ant-Man movie appearances have helped it to achieve better prices in the past few years.Record sale: $200,000
... We have the whole entire set of Ant-Man books, along with complete sets of Thor, HULK from #1, Avengers, X-men, Most of the set of Spiderman and boxes and boxes of mint condition Marvel, DC, Action, and roughly every comic book since 1963
Where the fuck is Mr. Brown?
Call stan lee ha
RIP
Pawn shop 100% profit! Buy low! Sell high! Bought for $1,000 will sell for 2,000 . made back $1,000 made extra $1,000 .. 100% profit what a SCAM!!!!
Its called doubling your money. Sound business practice. Some businesses can settle for 40% , some businesses will pay you 1/3 of what they plan to sell it for. Most comic stores who buy collections will pay a third of whatever they can sell it for. It seems like a scam but when you consider how long they have to sit on some inventory well as other factors it isnt so bad.
Two grown men arguing about cartoons
ah bunch of con men
LAST RIDE
Your a moron
This guy is just a little bit greedy
Watched heaps of these short PS vids.......Corey NEVER looks anyone eye to eye when shaking hands at the end of the deal WTF? Check out any of these 2 to 3 min vids.....there are heaps of them! Don't get me wrong, Corey is an ok dude and fellow HD rider....just the old eyes maybe.....your call?
I agree that spiderman's a bum.
At least he actually has powers. Batman just has all his set of toys he uses to fight crime. He doesn't fly, he doesn't have super strength, he can't become invisible, he can't do anything. Spider-Man can actually climb walls and has super senses. Plus in the original film trilogy he was able to spin webs on him own, not use the shooters.
I think they actually overpaid for once. If they want profit should have offered $800 max.
He is trying hard to look like an "expert"
