    Great Job! I am a percussionist as well, but sadly, i am not into Musical Business. Do you have to own all the stuff you play as a musical percussionist (without tubular bells or something like that)?

    • @rmpercussion
      @rmpercussion  5 лет назад +8

      FunnyVideos Thanks so much! It depends on the production. For this show all the equipment was mine with the exception of the timpani which the theatre was kind enough to lend us.

    Fascinating watching you, Ryan. When you first had it recorded, presumably it recorded the whole performance so is there any more of this please? Preferably ALL of it. :P :D

      Nick Jay Hey-Thank you so much Nick! When I originally posted I had intended to upload another video or two but the materials were deleted off my old computer by mistake and this is all that I have from the performance.

    I really enjoyed it, what's the thing you enjoy the most when it comes to be a percusionist and not a drummer only? Is it easier once you know how to read music and have a wide rudimental knowledge?

    how did you manage to have the new orchestrations for the school one?

    • @rmpercussion
      @rmpercussion  8 лет назад +7

      Hey Jamie. Although this was a youth theatre production I believe the MPAC licensed the full show not the school version. I believe the orchestration was listed as the uk tour orchestration.

      This is very interesting. Could you relay, if you can, each instrument you performed? Or at least:
      1. What did you have to play on the keyboard on the right?
      2. What drums were you playing during the "Confrontation" portion of this video, especially the the two you played together?
      3. What kind of Cymbal did you hit during "Confrontation" as well as the gong at the end?
      and
      4. What were you playing between 3:54 and 3:57?
      Than you, you sounded Great! :D

    • @rmpercussion
      @rmpercussion  7 лет назад +4

      Hey Michael-i honestly can't remember every instrument and I unfortunately don't have it in front of me now but I can try to answer your questions best I can from memory.
      1. The Keyboard was used as a substitute for instruments that I didn't own such as a glockenspiel, crotales, tubular bells. The Roland Spdsx pad on the right was also utilised for the same purpose substituting Concert Bass Drum, Tam Tam, and Bell Tree. The keyboard was connected to a MacBook running main stage which provided the sounds.
      2. Those were just Tom toms and Roto toms. The book calls for five of each but I only had access to 3 rotos
      3. That is just a china cymbal. The book calls for a tam tam swell but since the tam tam was a triggered patch that couldn't be manipulated in real time I added to China cymbal swell to imitate the effect.
      4. I believe that was either the tin can or the ratchet.
      Thanks so much for watching!!
