I think Dio was saved because the mother wanted a son; he found a book that mentioned "boy birthing charm" which may have belonged to the mother.

I'm really not sure, but giving this small story an 'If' name makes me believe that Dio isn't canonically alive...
This is called 'If' for a reason. It's something like 'What if this and this happened?'.
this is for everyone who thinks that Aya has become a good doctor.
actually, Aya doesn't turn her patients into dolls like her father, those dolls are most likely actual dolls (in the remastered version, she hugs a doll, saying to herself that she promised Dio that she wouldn't forget the people that her father killed). instead, she most likely kills patients to relieve them of their pain and uses medicine to make their deaths painless...which is still twisted, but better than how her father was, so I guess she's still not a good doctor, but a better one.
@@lore8984 I suppose you have a point. However, what if she did what you said but still made them into dolls? What if she put people to death because she believed that philosophy and those actions to be justified because they died painlessly, and still turned the deceased "patients" bodies into dolls still? Even if that was what happens, I still don't think she would be either a better doctor, nor a good doctor. I just wish she hadn't followed her father's actions or that Maria hadn't allowed it to happen.
A major question I have is at the end of the main story, Aya picks up a book on the way out of the mansion. What was in it that made her go down a similar path like her father's?

They did heavily imply that Aya took her father's path. Especially with Maria saying how much she's grown to be like the doctor himself. Still left a bit open ended, so she might not have.
I think the scene with her father after that, and this one with Dio... I'd love to see a sequel or something that expanded on their stories for sure!

I like to imagine that after Aya becomes a doctor, Dio has already been growing older like her. So, as he said himself, he would be taking a different path. Maybe he would eventually end up on the road to Aya’s clinic. Interested by the idea of maybe getting his eye problem (or lack thereof) checked out. Little did he know that he would run into the same young girl he kissed the forehead of. Due to her promise to never forget the people who were sacrificed, she remembers him and excitedly tells Maria who must be quite surprised. But Dio has also remembered something from that night. What the doll had said. “If.” So he asks to stay a night to catch up and discuss what Aya and Maria have been up to. Getting little bits of info, here and there, he decides to wait until they fall asleep and search for potential clues. He would eventually mind Maria’s diary and find out the truth of her plans. But Maria would wake up and notice he is absent from where he was supposed to be sleeping. Then the rest of the time he is there, he just tries to avoid Maria and her attempts to keep him quiet or dispose of him while trying to save Aya from becoming her father. Cue the title sequence of the sequel.
Indeed it would be a good sight to be scene.

Somehow,when I first saw the true ending,I wondered why Aya chose that path.I believed she became a true doctor at first,then I found out she became like her father.And I also thought like Dio"why would she do that if she kinda knows what it's like?".It's really strange
Idk. But what seperate Aya and her father is that, unlike her father(who just cut off people) Aya take only sick people who visited her clinic. Thats why her dolls weren't that much. After all, those people were near death and she uses a medicine to make sure they feel no pain.
There's hints throughout the game that Aya was already interested in blood and gore etc. Her mum read her stories filled with that sort of thing and there's a diary entry or something from her mum that says Aya was really interested in dead animals. It's implied that her mum encouraged her to be like her dad because her mum loved that side of her dad so much.

She'd have her father's urges because of the book that "salesman" obviously put on the ground but what she learned from Dio, she'd turn into something like that even if it is still kind of twisted

I know this game is from a long time ago, but I wish they make another game with this.
I love everything about this game with the stories, how the characters are really are, and the foreshadowing they brought with this.
It may not happen or never will, but if there were a sequel to this I’ll be willing glad to see what happens in the story.

I have a theory on this,based of the new remake that came out.i believe that the ghost in the bedroom and the little girl connected to the bedroom ghost,is dio's mom and sis who died by the hands of aya's father.
Aya's father took care of him due to Monika wanting a son,but Monika wasn't blessed with a son.i believe that the father only makes dolls of who he sees as family,like what happens in the alternative doll end.

I never got this ending with him!!! I got the secret gem one with the bald dude from the beginning and also the reveal BUT NOT THIS WITH DIO OMG!?!?!?! I'm... I'm so glad he's alive. I assumed he burned in the fire with the house. I wonder... if there will be another game with his as protag to stop her? I haven't heard of any more games out by this creator but I've been hopeful..!
Do you wonder if there will ever be anything official, even just a clip, of him finding Aya and ending it once and for all? I'm very interested in his story- I wish there was more.
