Man, I'm so glad someone with your recording, editing and narration skills is taking the time to do this. I'm listening to your episodes while painting some scenery for my first campaign. Keep up the good work, man!
Something I'd love to see: a "Behind the Terrain" video where you talk about the decisions you make as you set up terrain. I'm never quite sure if I'm setting up too little, too much, not the "right" mix, etc. So, hearing your thought process would be cool.
Noted!
My feeling on this is that setting up terrain is no time to stress the details, it's got more of a roleplaying or worldbuilding vibe; set up the terrain in whatever way tickles your sense of immersion.
One of the general tips I've seen come up in skirmish games is to put all the terrain you'd like to use to one side of the board and aim to cover at least 50% of the total area before dispersing it all around.
I think id try to to for enough terrain to make it feel like the place they should be in so if its an open air event center probably not a ton of terrain if its a ruined city theres probably a ton of things to hide around or behind. Just make sure it feels like what you imagine the place should be
“Da Rat man forgive you this time”
The Stand
"Duck-back" sounds like something filthy that the young-uns are doing nowadays 😂
This game is tailor-made for episodes like this. So much fun!
Ha haven't heard " Ratman forgive you" in along time. Mostly when Fazeal the dark elf was running a muck.🤣🤣
I am playing through my first campaign of Five Parsecs right now! A large portion because of you! So thank you. My friends and I are playing in a shared world. We all share the planets and stuff, so we can travel back and forth. Plus we can play co-op or rival missions when we meet up.
I had the same question you did about recruiting, but I ruled opposite. To me, the sick/injured are still a part of the crew. So no free peeps for me.
Also, when generating enemies, I think it is the max crew size that determines the amount of enemies. Not the crew number you actually bring. Right before that section there is a rule that says “you can bring fewer than the maximum number of crew, but you still generate enemies as normal. You just may save a crew member from injury”
Rex comes from a proud line of sports cars.
That was my reaction as well.
Inspired me to play 5 Parsecs, on Turn 5 and loving it.
RX-7 got the bulk of his training early in his career as a mazda.
This game reminds me of everything good about old school Necromunda without having to involve other people.
The Stand and lethal weapon.
Great shows. Keep them coming!
I’m playing this game because of you. I got the book a few weeks back, and I purchased some Necromunda minis to play the game with. I’ll be playing my first game on my next day off, and I should have the minis all painted by then. Thanks for the great game play.
Same here. Trevor made me buy this game, paint minis and play the game. He’s inspiring I guess.
I swear, man, this is the second system you've gotten me into, the first being Ironsworn. Love everything you're doing! Here's something I'm not sure you've ever covered.... any DIY terrain ideas or the like? I find that with my expanding from more traditional ttrpgs, with minimal terrain but using minis, into more of a pseudo-wargame style that terrain is what I'm lacking.
There are so many good DIY terrain videos on youtube. I've been watching Bill Making Stuff, but mainly for the entertainment value, it's been about a decade since I actually made terrain.
I've literally used the bottle of beer I was drinking at the time as terrain for some games. Cardboard boxes, and other packaging. Cell phone boxes work well. Grab some rocks or chunks of broken pavement from outside. Bowls and dishes from the kitchen. Scraps of felt, paper, leather, etc for flat markings of rough terrain. Leggo. Lincoln logs (showing my age). Wadded up paper or tin foil. The world is your terrain, my dude.
A prescription for AWESOME!!!!
Wooot! Always a welcome sight in my feed! The dice gods smiled on you for this one, for sure.
RX-7....Mazda! Great job as always.
Finally! Always happy when there's new episode!
Well they do say it's better to be lucky than good ;) as always very enjoyable so thanks :)
I'm not sure this discussion has popped up in this comment section yet, but as for the stuff you're talking about around 5:00 in this video:
I haven't yet finished watching this video at the time of writing, so you may very well brush on these by the time I get to the end, but I would be very interested to hear what variations you're playing and why. I love 5PFH (and your series on it) and I've been playing it like crazy lately.
I just started trying out some of the stuff in the Freelancer's expansion and I'm still getting a feel for some of the changes and whether or not I enjoy them and would be super curious to hear your reasoning for the mechanics, so I might get a better idea of how to utilize the rules as well! :D
I've been inspired to buy this game and start on my own adventures.
That said, my crew is currently slumming around Colfax Prime in the Xitu Galaxy. We heard about your revenge plot and, captain to captain, I hope to catch you at one of the spice bars so I can buy you all a round 😂
Seriously tho your luck is so insane with the good, bad and the ugly, I would hope you make it🤞🤞🤞
I've newly discovered your channel and been watching all your 5 Parsecs content. I really enjoy your batrep style. Check out the Veer-Myn and Ratkin from Mantic games, if you need some affordable "Ratmen" minis.
Trevor is great for showing the true power of Five Parsecs from Home
Man, I love this series - - - so much fun to watch!! May I suggest Core Space or Core Space: First Born for a future series? Similar vibes but a little different.
RX7 is also a Mazda. I used to own one in the 90s. Quick little thing.
Ah. Just got to the part where it dawned on ya :)
You make good narrative choices with the outcome of these rolls. The connection between the type or enemy and type or terrain was a solid direction to move in.
My headcanon is that RX-7 got very drunk and sociable during that campaign event you can't change y mind lol
Great Series
Another great episode, and very lucky how the mission went considering the state of the crew. I was almost expecting the enemy reinforcements at the end of turn 4 to pop up on the table edge that Captain Ganimer was moving towards. Thankfully that didn’t happen
4:10 Robot by Mazda 😉
I just stumbled on this video and binge-watched the entire season. I absolutely love it. I have started my own campaign and am having so much fun!
The production value of these videos is off the charts. Great job, Trevor. I especially like the little cutscenes and dialogues that give the story so much character. My only gripe is that you go so fast that I feel it’s a bit rushed. I understand you want to keep the action flowing, but a little less speedy would result in a bit more relaxed experience for me. My compliments for this awesome video series.
Firstly let me say what an awesome series this is. I was hoping this would be an aid towards using the 5 parsecs rules. It has been so much more in terms seeing what is possible. This is truly a work of art and your story telling genius in itself. Enough of the fawning fanboy. I just wanted to say about the ratman quote..... it wouldnt be from the stand would it? Keep up the great work. This is truly the go to series for anyone wishing to dip their toe/claw/tentacle inton5 parsecs.
This series is probably my most anticipated on youtube. Thank you so much for making these. Tabletop skirmish games with enthusiasm! Must...resist...urge...to use....glaresword :)
That zoom in to the single stun marker 😢😂
The stun marker said “2”. Couldn’t get high enough resolution to see it properly.
@@MeMyselfandDieRPG Lol, of course! You're on top of this stuff, please forgive me for having doubted you.
Thank you for another great piece of entertainment. Lethal Weapon references are always fun :)
Nice Lethal Weapon reference.
love it, love it, love it. What a wonderful channel!
Stunned after a successful saving roll always made sense to me. I mean, have you see the effects after armor stops a bullet???? That person is knocked down and out of it for a moment. If anything, the stun rules are VERY generous. Thats one reason I totally agree with the three stuns and youre out rule.
I dont like the duck back rule though. Youre basically penalizing a pawn no matter the result of an attack. You can seriously misuse this with suppressing fire. Groups with larger numbers will just spend each time engaging pawns that have no way of actually damaging anyone to stall movement, grinding games to a halt.
22:20 That was a pretty good impression.
40:38 Wait...the hand cannon isnt 6", its 8." Definitely install the shock attachment to the shotgun rather than the handgun. The shotgun is TWO shots rather than one, so that could be FOUR stuns with a shock deice at the same range. Thats an elimination no matter what.
Like always, very entertaining video. The quality is so good!
The Duck Back rule is logical and add flavor to the combat, but OOOF the amount of things to remember and the complexity added is intense.
One question I wonder is, if a character has 1 stun on it when it lose composure and is forced into a "move to cover". would that count towards its only 1 turn action?
Veer-myn: sci-fi rat men from the Warpath wargame by Mantic Games. They're rather good.
Very good! The sewer setting made me want to make a bunch of terrain for a new video hahah
Remembering all those small rules details is really hard. On my last video someone pointed out I forgot to reroll on Aim, and I'm pretty sure I screwed up with a grenade roll too. Maybe some sort of GM Screen (well, just a sheet with the info, really :D) would be helpful.
Once again, great work! It's always entertaining and inspiring
Love the show. Trevor we need to make you a turn order sheet so you can save having to remember everything.
80s movie quotes for the win. Lol
This series is great! 😀
As always, fantastic episode. I would have probably applied the Skulker Special Ability that says they do not suffer movement penalties due to ground-based effects (like slippery, mud, etc).
I used the core book for the encounter - the special ability is only in Freelancer's.
Traxia was full of all sorts of challenges. Next location is 5 parsecs away from Traxia... Aixart perhaps (that's Traxia backwards, with less danger more loot maybe :) ) pew pew pew pew. Ship to ship combat? That would be cool. Boarding battle on the wrecker ship.
Another great episode. Think it was the first one in awhile no one got hurt. It's funny I keep yelling at the screen MORALE check. Well can't wait to see what happens next time.
I saw some Hirst Arts castings in that bit of terrain. :)
you should still be able to use that find patron thing since its not specifcally saying it helps find a patron on traxia prime
RX-7, More than meets the eye!
I absolutely love this series. I forget which episode it was but 'The ratman forgive you, this time' had me in stitches once I remembered what it was from.
Have you tried Space Station Zero?
15:30 The Stand 1994 TV mini series. I had to confirm the date with IMDB, LOL.. I be an old geezer.
Fresh cut!
So tempted.
No, I won't.
Fine, I will. Those anonymous tips from your friend, Mr. Lumen? Somewhere, someone is saying, "what you do, you do for Lovi."
Shutting up now.
Man from 13:02 to 13:04 you sound exactly like Stewei from Family guy hahahah
I played it so that less than 6 crew means deceased characters. You can still recruit, but it isn't automatic.
Got the Riggs reference :)
Would you consider putting this series on the podcast?
Was Rex made by the Mazda Corp? 🤪
I knew you'd remember the car!
I understand the choice of RX-7’s upgrade, but I thought for sure you’d increase his speed
hey idk if Im too late for this but you could use Starforged's planet creation tables to add more roleplaying depth to a mission's nature, terrain and objectives
I still think that having a whiteboard near your main camera is a good idea to keep track of things…
I thought the amount of enemies that you rolled on a mission had to do with your starting group independently n how many are active. But apart from that you have to get your breaks when you get them. I once had some terrible beasts come in a limited visibility terrain on an ice covered planet. I managed to slip to the objective and run away with the loot before they even had a change to close range, phew...
Awesome can you do the voice of Wolfman Jack!
ruclips.net/video/r4SI58H_Vgg/видео.html
You can use the insider information on whatever planet you wind up on in your next turn. It's probably why you even went there, specifically.
I miss Mythic GME game play.
I don't get why you didn't win after taking out ratman #2 & #3; No enemies during the Enemy Phase means you "Hold the Field", no?
Hi Trev am just starting my campaign of five p now can u tell me what books u use to randomly generate npc and gang name and all that stuff coz av been using online ones and there a bit to random for example I generated a sci-fi name for a ganger and one of the names was notorious sex tiger lol a mean come on please help
How fast is RX-7 ???
I need me some more!
Is this series gonna get finished???
Yes. My schedule makes it impossible for me to produce anything this month. In the meantime, I have scheduled a weekly release of my already-made Blade Runner campaign until I get the time to produce new material. You should check it out, I’m very proud of it: Blade Runner: Electric Dreams Part 1
ruclips.net/video/gBMI__9aisQ/видео.html
@@MeMyselfandDieRPG couldn't get into it .
Well then I guess you’re just gonna have to wait.
you didnt take the 4 free turns without enemies
Also if a character is more than 1 inch away from the wall it blocks line of sight. Should I stop making these comments? Tell me if I should
