Mayor Mendenhall, local leaders to open Elektron Solar Project, a new source of clean energy for Utahns.
Construction is complete on an 80-megawatt solar farm, known as the Elektron Solar Project, in Tooele County. The project is a result of collaboration between six partners that aggregated their demand for renewable energy, including Salt Lake City Corporation, Deer Valley Company, VR CPC Holdings, Inc. (Vail Resorts), Utah Valley University, Park City Municipal Corporation, and Summit County.
The project represents a major milestone in Salt Lake City’s goal of sourcing nearly 100 percent of municipal electricity from clean energy sources. The solar project is among the largest solar generators connected to the Rocky Mountain Power system.
