Thank you! I have a client who needs full gauntlet for forearm and biceps area to protect scar tissue. Great tutorial. Basket weave as well. Hardest stamp for me. I took a class at tandy, but didn't get it right there or at home. The lines look like they make a huge difference.
thank you for your video it is very helpful and your directions are really great!!! please keep making vids. for us to view. Thank you again Mr. Richard.
Though to some, watching this video may be like watching grass grow. But to a hands on man like my self. I'm in awh, yes awhed! Friends, this is the way life used to be before the Modern Day Factories dwarf the horizons. Everything was done by hand. There was no customized work, because is was all customized. Truly this is a dying art if it can be called art. We as Americans have lost this, hundreds are coming from other countries to the America bringing this type of skill with them because that is still what is being used in their own country. Many today are happy and content with a devise that has rolled off some assemble line and packaged in a nice Graphic Arts Box and placed on a shelf just for you. But to Grab a product such as this that is not exactly perfect but the eye of a skilled craftsman has laid it to hands is awesome. To unfold something from thin air to only place it on paper and then craft it right before you is inspiring. I find myself doing this same thing when working wood. Mr. Black, my hat is off to you sir. Thank you for keeping you craft alive. Not sure what I would do with these Cuffs if I had them, but watching you bring this to life is truly interesting. JB
These wrist cuffs make pretty good cartridge holders with the addition of bullet loops. I shoot a Thompson Center Contender (single shot with no magazine at all) and it sure makes it easy to have 5 or 6 rounds on a wrist cuff. At first I was thinking of putting 15 rounds on a forearm cuff but decided against that for practical reasons. Ammo on a wrist cuff is better that digging around in your pocket for another round to insert in the barrel. Also a lot quicker.
Rich, What a great job you did. I liked all the different finishes you used. What is that gold disk you do your stamping on? I look forward to more videos.
It's a solid brass disk that weighs around 75 pounds. It works great as a solid surface but it still needs a solid platform underneath it for no vibration. If possible always do your stamping above the leg of the table or work bench. Thanks for watching
Thanks for watching. The disk is a solid brass disk that weights about 60 lbs. I picked it up at a government auction. I believe it as used in some machinery, it makes for a great solid surface pounding surface. Happy Leathering
I use the Atom wax on both sides, I figure it can't hurt and it helps preserve the leather. The more you take care of your leather the longer it will last and keep it's beauty. Thanks for your support and for watching and Happy Leathering. Richard Black
Depends on the bling or tooling on the cuffs. I've seen prices that go from $30.00 to well over a hundred dollars. Other words, whatever the market or venue will bare. Thanks for watching.
Thank you mr Black been wanting to make these and some dove wing spur straps to match. Oh and on that wax balm do you do both sides or just the tooled side
Hey Richard just a question but is the back supposed to slip onto your arm and have free space? if that makes sense. because I bought some patterns and im just wondering why they make it so big at the back - thanks and great video
I would love to get my hands on one of those heavy brass plates like you have in your videos; that is just perfect for some of the heavy duty stamping on leather. Any ideas where one can be found?
Good Luck, unless your in an area that has government surplus auctions or heavy equipment parts auction. But then again it was a long time ago. You just have to have a keen eye at junk sales.
Thanks, I was hoping to find something like that since I live in the DC area and there is so much available. But it is finding the little things in the chaos of surplus that is hard. Oh well, I will keep looking. I really enjoy your videos!
I believe Tandy Leather Factory has beginner leather craftsman tool kit. You really only need the tools that will work for your current project and add more as you need them. Thanks for watching.
Great video. I learned a lot watching your technique. Thanks for taking your time to do this.

Beautiful work. :)
Thanks for the very helpful video. I'm just curious. What would a set of cuffs like that cost?
Beautiful!!
What oz leather did you use for these ? Looks very nice !
Hey Richard just a question but is the back supposed to slip onto your arm and have free space? if that makes sense. because I bought some patterns and im just wondering why they make it so big at the back - thanks and great video
because your arm gets wider near the back, i believe
Bellissimi
What weight leather do you use to make the cuffs? thanks, Ellis
You can use any weight that feels good on your arm and for what purpose it serves. In the video I used a 8-10 oz weight
what material did you use for the inner layer on the one with start
Hey Mr black can you do a video on spur straps the two piece kind. Thank you

Just discovered your videos ... good stuff. You have a grandfather clock in that room don't you. :)
Hi Richard, can I buy this pattern from you.? Thanks
Back in the day there was basically no medical care. Things like wrist cuffs kept you from dying from tetanus from a scratch.
No! Make the strap lengths longer because the leather is thicker than paper.
Do you sell these. If so please let me know thank you
Yes I do. If interested contact me at blacksleather@att.net
