I think the scratch is already in the track and he just moved the plate a bit so it is is the doubled length of the original scratch and he could put his hand off the plate.

The pre recorded scratch samples are why everyone used to hate on Dj revolution back in the early 2000s now everyone uses them wow. I kind of wish the dmc would limit types of samples used. It takes away from true talent. Now all these guys do is make a mix on a computer and put it on wax they might as well let people use serato and maschine and call it a day.
It seems to me like im having a hard time understanding the routine every year, maybe cuz im old now, hehehe, but the flow of the set is not going nowhere..2 clicks has been overkilled, customize vinyl pressed has to much sounds half of the sounds are not coming from his cuts or juggling movement. AND ALL YALL NEED TO STOP BITIN MY MAN MERGE'S STYLE! call me old school but things have changed for the worse if this kinda sh*t is winning dmc. DJ FRAZE - IRT CREW - NYC.
I'm not a professional on scratching but I think this shit is dope as Fuck! It might be simple patterns and made with pre-recorded shit but if it sounds dope then it's dope to me
@SirReks at the end of the day this is about music. i didn't hear any music in that routine. if you wanna hear some "technical" stuff here's some routines you might wanna research: perseus's ight chill routine. precisions whole world routine, any of the original krash dummies (allies) up fader pattern routines (IXL / Develope). I can go on for days. this stuff you hear nowadays has no soul and honestly dude sounds like a ROBOT. i don't see any "DOPE" in that. I don't see any progression.
99% of recent entrants to the DMC seem to be I-Emerge/Kentaro/Rafik/Fly clones, Which is all well and good for technical sets but man it's getting boring and just a bit goddam noisey. Where did the "FLOW" go? Personally I prefer a DJ like Shiftee out of the choice of the last 10 years winners he seems to be one of few who retains an element of musicality and not just the same juggle and scratch patterns repeated over those nasty beats.

I can safely say after I watched the 2005-2010 champions, that IEmerge paved the way for un-musical and chaotic routines, with no flow nor style
