  • FASTEST MILE in TEXAS 2021 (*so far*) | Southlake North Texas Winter 1600m
In today's video, we have some of the fastest teams in Texas competing in the Southlake mile. And although the title may sound clickbaity, it's actually true to some extent! The winning time of this race was 4:19 by Evan Caswell. Definitely an intense race to witness, and congrats to everyone that ran!

Do you have any tips for running the 800 I’m a freshman and my first meet is Saturday and I’m kinda nervous

I think it’s important to divide the 800 into 4 different sections. For the first 200, position is key. You want to go out fast (not an all out sprint, but more like a fast and relaxed pace). Stick yourself around 3rd or 4th place, assuming that everyone in your heat is around your speed. The second 200m, you want to keep your position. You should feel tired at the 400m, but still have some reserved in the tank. On the third 200m, you want to try to move up a little on the straight away. You will have to force yourself to accelerate a little at the 400m mark so be prepared for that. Once you reach the 600m, hopefully you will be 2nd or 3rd place, so now the focus is just kicking it in. Concentrate on big arms and big strides. You won’t be feeling good at all, but you have to focus down. Now, if you’re racing people who are on a different caliber you might have to change your game plan. Your target is to have your second lap 2-3 seconds slower than your first, and make sure you give an all out effort! Hopes this helps and good luck on your race :) 👍🏿

@@VedantBhattacharyya Thank you so much for the reply! I'll do my best to apply these tips since I'm not sure how fast the people in my heat will be yet.

Yup! When it comes to running smart races, a lot of it boils down to experience. Over time you should get a good feel on how to run certain races. For now though, there’s no need to stress: just give it your best shot and see what happens!

@@VedantBhattacharyyaYo I just finished my race and did pretty well even though im disappointed in myself. I ran a 2:20 and got 4th in my heat, I was 2nd for most of the race and then my two teammates came from behind and beat me. The person in first ran sub 2 though, I know these times aren't impressive lol but im in division 5 for California so we don't have lots of insane talent. Anyways I messed my pacing up cuz my first lap was 59 seconds and i was feeling pretty good with adrenaline rushing through but then when i got to the curve i started slowing down and when i tried to kick I died but it was my first race hopefully i can race faster next week.

@@edwardjoseph5972 not bad man! The good part is that this experience is gonna help u in the future. If you slow down a little in the first lap you’ll definitely be able to pick it up quite a bit that second half. It’s a great learning experience over all!!
