finallly, the MoVi Pro is amazing, but the original batteries are really painful to manage. That's why I switched to DJI TB50s with the adapter plate. But now this seems like a way better solution. Just feel so unlucky, because I literally just replaced my batteries 2 days ago, and if I knew I would have bought these. xD
V mount / Gold mount cant support the power draw our systems demand. We might make an adapter in the future to go the other way though SL to V mount or gold mount
Very cool. I'm still using a little old M5. It's great. Only thing I'd like is a firmware update to be able to quickly center it without having to restart it.
@@danielstoursvideo it also clears space for direct monitor mounting to the camera which gives you a one to one movement prespective. you need the movi ring pro 2 version to run it as pictured
We need around qty 2 12s 16ah to fly Alta X so around 1400 Wh total. Sl8 is 157Wh so we need around 9 SL8s to fly Alta X. We would need to figure out a method to combine SL8's in series which we have not currently done. Fun project!
I didn't think anybody would actually reply, but thanks for spendinf the time on my sikly question! I'm really looking forward to be able to power my Alta X with 21700 (or newer) cells. Would have amazing lifecycle. But i understant why it's not really doable for now. One more silly question. Why can't the SL4/8 be charged with the usb c port on it?
@@varadiadam92 Hey Adam, I agree 21700 would be nice, but given current cells we would lose some performance and flight time on Alta X which would be a hard sell for some people. The newest 21700 cells are really good, but still not as light as lipo pouch cells for extreme use cases like Alta X. If we had an Alta X where the weight / payload was a bit lower we could build a nice setup with 21700. We thought about building charging into the USB C port but it would have added weight, and cost to each and every battery, so we thought the more efficient solution was to have the charging circuity not be on the battery so it didnt consume flight time / payload on the drones
Thanks Tabb! Didn't know usb c needs a different chargin board, considering the BMS is in the battery. I'm still very intrested in 21700 cells, now calculating how can I make two packs for Alta X. With the small 8-9kg movi payload, there is plenty of usable weight left. Shoot. This is gonna be a big build 🙃
@@varadiadam92 We would need to add a bunch of additional components to the BMS board to enable it to charge I meant, so it would get heavier, bigger, and more expensive. We use 1$/gram for our drones to help us make super light gear. If we can save one gram we will spend a dollar to do so!

What are the advantages to the SL4 vs the TB50?
Im interested too
Curious why no v-mount/gold mount adaptability? Seems quite counterintuitive to isolate your rigs from the rest of everyone's power kits.
V-Mount/Gold are only 16v, MoVI Pro needs 24V batts.

I still don't understand why don't use slip ring brushless (yaw) motors to power the gimbal from an external power source without use batteries
Added weight, complexity, and lowered reliability for minimal benefit for the average use case.

Glad you still like M5! Its one of my favorites also
@@tabbfirchau1 Yeah, for a mirrorless payload, it's fantastic. But it's fallen behind when it comes to simple stuff like recentering on the fly.
amazing work!
what is the benefit of mounting the gimbal to the bottom of the ring?
It raises the lens, getting lens higher/closer to talent without having to raise ring really high. Saves your back.
Amazing! Thank you! Will
Try this asap
