Haha. I'm not surprised. I was blessed enough to experience the DAMN. Tour and know this: most diverse and authentic packed venue I've been to. I'm talking every race and age was present to see Kung Fu Kenny prove how he can connect.
Update: man, I'm enjoying your passion and energy put into these sentiments. As a Vegas local, I'd love a sit down.

I took the candy house line literally especially since I'm from LA and on every block there would be some old woman selling candy out of her house like it was a corner store me and the homies would always go there when and I really didn't recognize how dangerous that area was until I moved of that part of town I didn't see any candy houses and I think they're dying off

And just in case anyone would like to know I did have the same fears and I had them all when I was like 13 especially for the second verse and I kind of just lost faith in my life remember distinctly one day after blacking out and nearly killing my mom's boyfriend running off and crying about it I thought to myself if I'm going to die anyway I don't want to hurt my family and everyone around me in the process so I made a conscious decision just to be closer to my family and help out and when I turned 19 and realize I wasn't dead yet but I started freaking out and decided I'm going to try to look forward to retirement and still even to this day I really don't care if I were to die I've had times I've been robbed at gunpoint and I just pulled out a knife like you want to do it let's do it and the only thing I had they could have taken from me was 15 cents that was only 2 years ago the only difference from me now and me back then when I was little kid is that I don't start fights I don't even hold grudges if I don't like you I'll just tell you straight up or I just won't talk to you ever again I don't put me in situations I'm surrounded by people who lie to me because I don't like lying to other people and since I started doing that I've been happy most of the time even though I'm homeless or my car just got taken or I just lost my job whatever happens to me I can brush it off easy I just don't want anything to happen to people I care about

You think you have him figured out then he does something to go in a complete new direction. To me the fact that he is willing to be so open with himself and his issues is what draws me to him and makes him music so compelling. Thanks for writing back, your very insightful.

I feel as if the fear part is also fear of God's punishment also....chastisement....it is also connected with the punishment from his mom [I beat yo ass] also who was a lord of the home as a child....her commandments.....part of the fucked up part about it is that children from dysfunctional homes begin to believe that chastisement or more so abuse, is what what they deserve or that it ...I like how he related it to the phone call....Like Black people and other oppressed nations deserved oppression...Rationalizing generations of trauma...I probably die ...why? because that's what you do when you're 17....its deep!!1
