Advice on your break up issue, pull the ecu and check the capacitors and see if they’re leaking on the traces. Number one thing to cause issues for soarers and jzx’s so much stuff runs thru the ecu it’s wild.
Keep an eye on your front lower ball joints, one of the biggest downfalls to this chassis Hyped to see more people getting into these. Everyone who has ridden with me says its the smoothest D car they've been in haha
After wrenching on my s13 for the past 10 years, I bought a Lexus GS300 with a vvti 2jz this year and it's a blast to drive and work on. I can't wait to see what you do with the SC and I hope you get the misfire sorted soon. My s13 is doing something similar and I've been chasing it for months!
My buddy has a Soarer with the 1jz vvti. He was having the same issue with it "misfiring". The fix was the fuel pump. We replaced it with the Hellcat fuel pump.
My friend has had two IS300's where it felt when near full throttle to WOT, the car feels like it bogs quite hard. Also felt fuel related. Both times, the fix was swapping the MAF sensor. From what he saw, Toyota used the same MAF's a ton of cars...got cheap replacements at the junkyard. I figured it's worth a try.
On the misfire I agree with everyone else about checking the ecu. 90s Toyota ecus are just known for leaking capacitors. (I have a 1uz and a 1jz swap car) Another possibility that happened to my 1j is300 is that the fuel hose that feeds the fuel pump coming from the tank had micro cracks in it and it was causing the car to misfire. It starts not so bad but got to the point the car was undrivable.
I would regap the spark plugs a bit tighter and remove the speedometer signal to ecu, I want to say it's 1 wire. Just check a wiring diagram. It may be hitting fuel cut after a certain amount of kph.
Fuel pump probably dying if the ecu is still good, I recommend doing and aem 340lph, relay mod, wideband and a fpr it will help keep it safe on stock ecu and make sure you arent leaning it out
Never had that issue on my 1JZ, but I would deal w fuel cut and boost cut on my 1jz vvti. Definitely check your fuel filter tho, they’re super easy to get to and replace on jzx’s. I would assume they’re the same on soarer’s. You can also buy noid lights from harbor freight for like 6 dollars to check your whole fuel system up to the fuel injector. They won’t check the fuel injector. But you can get a small tool to test your fuel injector.
To piggy back off people saying check the capacitor’s on your ecu, yes and no. They are super common on 90s Toyota’s to fail n cause problems. When mine did on my jzx, it caused my vvti solenoid to not work. I don’t think this is the cause of your break up issue, but worth checking super quick
Had a pretty bad misfire issue on my sc before, definitely +1 on checking the ecu for leaking capacitors. Swapped the ecu to verified working ecu and misfire went away! It may not be the ecu but it's definitely worth a shot checking. It's a pretty common issue for ls/celsior and sc/soarers i believe.
If you're ever lookin to sell the cloth seats lmk been lookin for a pair for my sc. I bought that tan SC off ya a bit ago, Keep it up man vids are sick
Also your misfire may likely by a TPS issue, get it checked/ tested, if its not that then its the ECU module that communicates with the TPS, mine had same issue.
With the misfire issue, sounds like its overfueling to me. I would be replacing the 2 wire coolant temp sensor on the water neck. Cheap to replace and i can guarantee thats your problem.
I’ve had an issue like that 3 times in my S13 and they ended up always being fuel related. 1st time were bad injectors. 2nd time was a clogged fuel pump sock cos my fuel tank was rusty (SC300s also have a metal fuel tank) 3rd time I converted my fuel tank to a plastic GTR tank to avoid the rusting issue but turns out I still had rust debris in my hard lines so the fuel filter down the line got clogged.

you are quickly going to learn how superior Toyota chassis is to nissan.
Honestly just dropping the diff and seeing how over built this rear end is makes me like it that much more 😭😂
Im happy this car is being fixed and driven. Soarers/ sc's are so comfortable.
Keep an eye on your front lower ball joints, one of the biggest downfalls to this chassis
Hyped to see more people getting into these. Everyone who has ridden with me says its the smoothest D car they've been in haha
Going from my dumped Miata that scraped everywhere to this car has been so nice haha. makes me want to go out and drive more
ECU can be faulty, the capacitors inside notoriously leak when they get some age. Jumper harness to a JDM 2JZGTE ecm is a nice lil simple upgrade.
Soarers are underated! The car looks sick
That thing holds angle for daaaaaays!

hopefully she gets back to drifting soon , looks so sick
Kansei must have upped that salary! Happy for you my guy
Excited to see how this thing is gonna turn out. Let’s get that kit on soon!

Ecu capacitor might be leaking! Very common problem with soarers. Soarer Surgeon here in NZ fixes hundreds of them. Worth a look
I get what you saying with the 90s seats, they huh you like penguins hug each other

ANOTHA ONE! Hell yeah Mark keep the hood shit uppp!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I had a toyota crown that had the opposite issue, the capacitors in my ecu went bad and corroded the injector driver.
car sounds amazing 🤌

JZX are king, love that paint color too.
cant wait to see this thing get built
This is S tier content

excited to see the rear end fixed
Me too!
That KFD bodykit gonna make it look way different.

1:20 a 94 soarer jzz30 should have the Ao2b LSD as far as i know? check the vin plate, Ao2A is open Ao2B is lsd
Good job good job 👏😎🤟 car cool.. 😊
Bro has all of my dream cars
theyre pretty common for intermittent misfires, because the capacitors in the ecu fail.
Have you done the 12v fuel pump ecu mod? That might be the problem .
Man that looks so clean.. such a shame to start sliding it getting battered to shit like all drift cars will :(
With the misfire issue, sounds like its overfueling to me. I would be replacing the 2 wire coolant temp sensor on the water neck. Cheap to replace and i can guarantee thats your problem.
VVT solenoid bad probably..
Idle is smooth though
This is an early 1jz and it’s non vvti
Also if the issue isn’t fuel related possibly check the ecu because the capacitors leak and can cause problems
@@anthonypatino7942 I was gonna say the same - the 1j gte non-vvti ECU's notorious for leaky capacitors
Hey bro, double check if the FRS/BRZ lsd is bolt in friendly. I know they fit the is25/350 and 2gs chassis
Checked it’s one size to small!
Almost sounds like the intake/air filter is clogged or the cat (if it still has one)?
Brazy
i love how when ur drifting the spedo will say your going 80-100 mph then drop down to 30 mph because of wheelspin
my beams was doing something similar and it ended up being my vvti solenoid. not sure if this is a vvti jz or not, but if it is it could be that.
This one's non vvti 1jz
nvm then 🤷♂@@2JSLay

So it was this hahah. After u do the fuel tank overhaul keep in mind the hard lines might still have rust in them
Must be nice to have a 1jzgte, I have the na 2jz :(
It's a plug, happens on uzs , put a real scanner on and watch the misfire count, whatever cylinder it is I guarantee it needs a plug
It can throw a huge amount of misfires and no light still, gotta go into live data and see what's up
First!
could be the injectors are clogged
