Advice on your break up issue, pull the ecu and check the capacitors and see if they’re leaking on the traces. Number one thing to cause issues for soarers and jzx’s so much stuff runs thru the ecu it’s wild.

Keep an eye on your front lower ball joints, one of the biggest downfalls to this chassis
Hyped to see more people getting into these. Everyone who has ridden with me says its the smoothest D car they've been in haha

ECU can be faulty, the capacitors inside notoriously leak when they get some age. Jumper harness to a JDM 2JZGTE ecm is a nice lil simple upgrade.

After wrenching on my s13 for the past 10 years, I bought a Lexus GS300 with a vvti 2jz this year and it's a blast to drive and work on. I can't wait to see what you do with the SC and I hope you get the misfire sorted soon. My s13 is doing something similar and I've been chasing it for months!

My buddy has a Soarer with the 1jz vvti. He was having the same issue with it "misfiring". The fix was the fuel pump. We replaced it with the Hellcat fuel pump.

My friend has had two IS300's where it felt when near full throttle to WOT, the car feels like it bogs quite hard. Also felt fuel related. Both times, the fix was swapping the MAF sensor. From what he saw, Toyota used the same MAF's a ton of cars...got cheap replacements at the junkyard. I figured it's worth a try.

On the misfire I agree with everyone else about checking the ecu. 90s Toyota ecus are just known for leaking capacitors. (I have a 1uz and a 1jz swap car)
Another possibility that happened to my 1j is300 is that the fuel hose that feeds the fuel pump coming from the tank had micro cracks in it and it was causing the car to misfire. It starts not so bad but got to the point the car was undrivable.

Ecu capacitor might be leaking! Very common problem with soarers. Soarer Surgeon here in NZ fixes hundreds of them. Worth a look

I would regap the spark plugs a bit tighter and remove the speedometer signal to ecu, I want to say it's 1 wire. Just check a wiring diagram. It may be hitting fuel cut after a certain amount of kph.

Fuel pump probably dying if the ecu is still good, I recommend doing and aem 340lph, relay mod, wideband and a fpr it will help keep it safe on stock ecu and make sure you arent leaning it out

I had a toyota crown that had the opposite issue, the capacitors in my ecu went bad and corroded the injector driver.

Never had that issue on my 1JZ, but I would deal w fuel cut and boost cut on my 1jz vvti. Definitely check your fuel filter tho, they’re super easy to get to and replace on jzx’s. I would assume they’re the same on soarer’s.
You can also buy noid lights from harbor freight for like 6 dollars to check your whole fuel system up to the fuel injector. They won’t check the fuel injector. But you can get a small tool to test your fuel injector.

    • @mikester1472
      @mikester1472 8 месяцев назад

To piggy back off people saying check the capacitor’s on your ecu, yes and no. They are super common on 90s Toyota’s to fail n cause problems. When mine did on my jzx, it caused my vvti solenoid to not work. I don’t think this is the cause of your break up issue, but worth checking super quick

Had a pretty bad misfire issue on my sc before, definitely +1 on checking the ecu for leaking capacitors. Swapped the ecu to verified working ecu and misfire went away! It may not be the ecu but it's definitely worth a shot checking. It's a pretty common issue for ls/celsior and sc/soarers i believe.

Also your misfire may likely by a TPS issue, get it checked/ tested, if its not that then its the ECU module that communicates with the TPS, mine had same issue.

theyre pretty common for intermittent misfires, because the capacitors in the ecu fail.

With the misfire issue, sounds like its overfueling to me. I would be replacing the 2 wire coolant temp sensor on the water neck. Cheap to replace and i can guarantee thats your problem.

This is an early 1jz and it’s non vvti
Also if the issue isn’t fuel related possibly check the ecu because the capacitors leak and can cause problems

@@anthonypatino7942 I was gonna say the same - the 1j gte non-vvti ECU's notorious for leaky capacitors

I’ve had an issue like that 3 times in my S13 and they ended up always being fuel related.
    1st time were bad injectors.
2nd time was a clogged fuel pump sock cos my fuel tank was rusty (SC300s also have a metal fuel tank)
3rd time I converted my fuel tank to a plastic GTR tank to avoid the rusting issue but turns out I still had rust debris in my hard lines so the fuel filter down the line got clogged.
