Me, too, Tara. I think I was definitely born in the wrong era. Songs like this are timeless, though, and do transcend moments in time. Glad you enjoyed watching this!
Well, you know, I've heard some of the great opera singers sing it, and Jeanette MacDonald too, but Jane, your voice towers above others for sheer richness and clarity.
@@barich3353 Kathryn Grayson and Deanna Durbin were contemporaries but Jane, to my mind, had the superior range and was more gifted as an actress. She had a bubbly personality and that smile always seemed so natural.
NOT RICARDO"S VOICE..TRUST ME....LOVE JANE POWELL...90 NEXT YEAR...HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY ...YOU STILL MY FAVORITE..HAVE BEEN SINCE I WAS 8 YEARS OLD..AND I WILL BE 80 IN NOVEMBER...
Believe it or not, "TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE" is a 1950's Hollywood movie musical about a young girl who wants to own a corset so that she can become a lady - best to overlook the plots & simply enjoy the astonishing talent.
this song is staged, ridiculously. i know, all about the corset, but... only wonderful Ricardo comes on and saves it, although he can't sing worth a darn. who cares, in those white tights...
@@donnablankenhorn5905 staging should have been simpler, with only Jane singing this very good song for her, then Ricardo appearing to dance with her and kiss her, passionately, at the end of what should have been a clever dream sequence. why i was not working at MGM at the time, i do not know. i'm kidding.
I will be 80 soon too, and I never tire of listening to Jane. Such a wonderful voice
The best singer that ever lived, in my humble opinion. Could listen to that voice forever.
Also with my jane list are katheryn grayson and Susana foster...the three best coloratura sopranos ever...
Oh to turn back the clock! this is what we could be watching instead of thee drivell we get today
REST IN PEACE JANIE GIRL...SHE LEFT US AT 92 IN SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR....
Jane Powell and Deanna durbin sang this song brilliantly.
Fabulous----everything nowadays is cut price (2023)
RIP Jane P
Back when America had great music! What happened to our culture?

Well, this particular song is from the operetta The Chocolate Soldier, by the Viennese composer, Oscar Straus.
This song will be, for fans of "I Love Lucy," forever linked with Ethel's rendition during her visit to Albuquerque.

Such unbelievable talent.. Her smile and voice is endearingly loving

Jane sang with her eyes. They were so expressive
They compliment her smile and voice. Her eyes and smile drew you into her song.
I finally found somebody who thinks like me. You are so right
Beautiful and one I have sang many times 😊 I was simply born in the wrong era.

B;ut Ricardo--what a smooth dancer!!!
Just a side note--how come everyone else is in a dress, but she is in what appears to be ...undergarments? Maybe I need to know the full plot line.

SHE IS "DREAMING" THIS IN THE FILM "TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE"....
Look at that waist 😇
@@nick-it7mr Thank you for the clarification. Good heavens what a very simple plot line!
@@nick-it7mr Hollywood always the same--any excuse to have scantily clad woman in a film!

I don't know why people are complaining about Ricardo"s singing but overlooking what a smooth dancer he is!
