I don't see why this is attracting so much attention from religious people - this video literally said, the song's about someone who DOESN'T believe that God is dead and is trying to show otherwise. The song ITSELF, for crying out loud, says "I don't believe that God is dead." Twice! But then again, it hasn't historically been very hard to attract such people on RUclips. It's called jumping to conclusions based on wrong presuppositions. Titles and lyrics have to be seen in context and may be written from a third person perspective and not representative of the viewpoint of the artist. Sabbath have taken a lot of unwarranted flak from religious protagonists. I'm a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ who's a big metal fan and has long appreciated and enjoyed Sabbath (40 years). What has been said about Sabbath comes very near to bearing false witness which The Almighty don't take very lightly.
Tony Iommi is such a legend!! I have seen black sabbath in 2016, I didn't grow up with them and have only known "iron man", "war pigs" and "paranoid", but damn this man has such a huge presence on stage. He stood there playing his guitar and you instantly knew that this guy is a master guitar player. There are a lot of talented and great players, but his performance was so special, as if he stood in a shiny light of epicness, I will never forget this performance, since then I'm a big fan of BS

luiz gustavo or the world needs more people who actually sit down in prayer for hours until the Lord himself actually comes down and you see him face to face. People act like God is so far away but it's those that doubt. I know cause I have seen him face to face.
I've been playing bass guitar for over 30 years and I can attest to the fact that Geezer is a bass master. His playing is always tasteful, inspiring, and just plain killer!
This song was NEVER anti God like many may have thought. In fact, as Geezer said, its about the fact that God is very much alive. Those that listen to the lyrics carefully catch onto this quickly. War Pigs is another ...not Satanic at all, but opposite. Its talking about how the Devil LOVES war basically. Ozzy is sneaky brilliant on his messaging.

People are so fucking stupid. Listen to the song. He says I don’t believe that God is dead. I’m a Christian and I know God is not dead and this song isn’t saying He is🙄
Even if he didn't say that, "god is dead" is just a famous quote from the philospher Frederick Nietzsche. It never was meant to be taken literally in the first place - it's more or less a metaphor for modern society having lost the need for traditional morality
Geezer has pretty much been doing that since the 70's lol, at least with Black Sabbath, as he wrote almost all the lyrics for every song up until Dio joined the band

Krimson Koala but, it is black sabbath, not ozzy solo. he wouldn't just insist on singing something the rest of them are opposed to, given that they are of faith.
+Dan and how can you confirm this? Because he's nota born again? My opinion that comment is taken out of context it was said in. Jesus said that to a Jew, not a Christian. And why are you watching Sabbath videos if you believe they have not been saved?
They played this song for only a month on the radio where I live, and I haven't heard it since then. Guess all the sensitive Religious folks were complaining too much, and they stopped playing it.
Ctorresification Its not just where you live. I believe it was the same almost everywhere tbh. My local radio sucks in general, so you won't hear it on there much. Usually its just the old popular tunes. Last time I heard it on the radio was the same time too.
I saw before a few days an interview with tony iommi from 2020 and he said that geezer butler was originally a guitar player and that he never learn to play the bass guitar but even so he became to be the greatest bass player, those were tony iommi words, I agree with him
Max E fuck album sales, a billion flies eat shit every day does that make it good? popular music is trash with no substance for the most part people are walking cliche's and have nothing in their heads, idgaf about album sales just make good music
It's typical of people to assume the title of the song is exactly what he means. He doesn't say emphatically "God IS Dead." It's "God is dead?" as in....you really think God is dead??? He doesn't believe that he is dead. It's a statement.
You just made me choke on my lunch! :D Holy god, that's fucking hilarious!!! :D :D :D The part that makes it so funny is that it's spot on. Before I even read this while watching the video I was looking at Tony's bad dye job and was thinking to myself. "I've seen that hair somewhere else." Thanks to you now I know just exactly where I have seen it. It was on the self cherishing, douche nozzle Gene Simmons. PMSFL!!!!!
Elijah Warrior do you listen to anything or do you just read the titles. Initial Reaction to the title was you can't sing this Ozzy. Then they realized that Ozzy was asking if God is dead and he is trying to prove he isn't. I don't reject Jesus Christ....But I do reject your twisted views on religion!! Hey, if I die in my sins then I am saved!! I have nothing in my life I regret. I am a good person who helps others regardless of what they believe or who they are. I don't damn people and tell them they are going to hell because of a what they listen to or what they believe!! I accept everyone for who they are EXCEPT religious fanatics. Hey, you should have been alive during the crusades when they massacred innocent people because they don't believe in their "Right" religion. News flash!! Church was built by men. Popes, pastors, preachers, and all the others are men. The bible was written by men and translated and changed so many times. Organized religion is a control over the masses. Religion creates fanatics that are filled with fear and hatred. Every word that comes out of their mouths is dripping with disdain for anyone who doesn't drop down and pray to the almighty lord for forgiveness at listening to a song. If I'm a sinner then so be it. Which one of us will have to answer for their sins against their fellow man? I have no fear or hatred towards others. I don't force my views and damn people UNLESS they do exactly what you do. That just pisses me off because you are damning innocent people over the title of a flipping song. The difference between what you believe and what I believe is simple....I believe in Good "God" / Evil "Devil" is in the heart of the person.
Bravo, bravo! Well said, I have felt that exact same way for 40 years and with that said, I am going to say thank you and move on so I don't keep on and on and on like the response I just discarded that was even longer than the one I'm replying to. Good day!
I get that it was a joke, but people really get confused by it. It's about Nietzsche's assertion that the concept of an all-powerful god is no longer necessary to explain or justify anything.
It's getting comical anymore... I can't believe it's even something that bothers anyone anymore. So much has changed in regards to this in the past 30-40 years. Mick Jagger put it best... "It's only Rock n' Roll, but I like it" Hell... I'm sure there's all kinds of music out there that I wouldn't listen to, but I can't tell you what it is because of that invention called the 'volume knob' and the 'channel selector', If you don't like it, change what you're listening to...
God is alive and well but so is satan. Choose this day who you shall serve...and who you will spend eternity with. For if you reject the Lord Jesus Christ, there remaineth no more sacrifice for your sins.
Anyone can say that God is dead but only one person can prove prove God is alive. Find out who that one person is and read the Bible because there is no book today that can prove that God is dead but there is one that can prove that God is alive
what are you even talking about? there are tons of books that disprove christianity. Read the God Delusion. Unless of course, you would rather stay in your perfect little world where jesus loves you and all is well.
NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY has the right to tell Ozzy what to sing. You should all bow down and thank your maker that you're alive to hear this angelic voice. If Ozzy made a song "white people suck" i'd listen to it. (and i'm white) *OZZY IZ GOD!*
BLASPHEMY! OFF WITH YOUR HEAD! actually, you're right on one account..Tony is definitely more level headed than Ozzy in his current state. Google the Ozzy/Howard Stern interview and you'll see how many people it takes to make sure Ozzy doesn't fall off the wagon. However, to say he's a sellout and can't sing...you're tawkin' outta your ass pal! ;)
+Mathieu Pharand I grew up in a Christian family, went to Sunday school...religion was definitely forced upon me. And +Funk5Punk is right, Money is now our god....do I like it? Absolutely not, but enough people already worship it, and it all kind of goes like Sunday school all over again...except Money is true evil
Nowadays by no accident fluoride is put in almost everything we ingest. Fluoride targets and calcifies the pineal-gland. The pineal-gland is located in the mid-brain and is known as the seat-of-the-soul/third-eye/ajna chakra. A supremely healthy ajna chakra will receive the Holy Spirit vibrational frequencies/Supreme Universal Consciousness/God. Typically all communist societies (Marxist Obama) will tend to abolish religious and or philosophic thought practices because the State needs to be viewed as the supreme authority. Power hungry authoritarians detest human natural law provided by a higher infinite universal order/God. This is the goal of the NWO. Do not play their game. De-calcify your pineal-gland and know God because the goal should be to rise in consciousness/reincarnate to a higher level next life(s).
***** I'm in good company because in 1945 the Japanese Leaders scoffed at and imprisoned George Ohsawa because he kept trying to warn the Government Leaders not to go up against the mighty materialistic western USA. He foresaw and predicted great harm coming to the Japanese Nation. George Ohsawa then helped heal many victims of radiation poisoning by feeding them seaweed. George Ohsawa was one of the wisest people to have walked planet earth in these modern times.
Bob Dyrcon Perhaps not with an older (no offense) crowd that you are in (I want to say...30+?) but in young people. I have seen more and more people stop following religion each day. There is less religious indoctrination today than there was 70 years ago. Then, to not believe in God was taboo and reprehensible. Tolerance in the USA is rising and people aren't as afraid to take a stance against the institution of Christianity. And I never said everywhere. I merely mean in the US.
***** I know what I see and feel. I see no God, I only can see people starving everywhere and people who have anything they want and preach God's will and other stuff. God never existed for the poor, so God never existed for me too. God only "exists" for the rich, who preaches about him and ignore "him" at the same time. In the name of the God, humanity made wars and monstrosities like inquisition. "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." Steven Weinberg By the way, this song is a masterpiece.
God is very much alive and lives within each of us.. although i am a bassist with sabbath influences from geezer and all.. i have a strong belief in God.

Tony Iommi is the master of riffs.
Yes, yes he is! My uncle and I once got into a debate about who was better Iommi or Sattriani.
mokiepoet I would say that Satriani knows a lot more about the music than Iommi, but Iommi uses his knowledge better.
Satriani all the way.

I saw before a few days an interview with tony iommi from 2020 and he said that geezer butler was originally a guitar player and that he never learn to play the bass guitar but even so he became to be the greatest bass player, those were tony iommi words, I agree with him
I miss those days. The music today just lost its spirit.
7 years ago? Lol
Why is everyone making a big deal Nietzsche said God is dead over 100 years ago
That's precisely the problem. It's not edgy enough nor new but still has the potential to offend alot of people. Not good for album sales.
Max E fuck album sales, a billion flies eat shit every day does that make it good? popular music is trash with no substance for the most part people are walking cliche's and have nothing in their heads, idgaf about album sales just make good music
Music is more of a business than an art.
0:23 "and you're watching anime.com"
I really thought that’s what he said 😅
dude i love tony hes riffs are so sick
those 2 guys are so fantastic man
It's typical of people to assume the title of the song is exactly what he means. He doesn't say emphatically "God IS Dead." It's "God is dead?" as in....you really think God is dead??? He doesn't believe that he is dead. It's a statement.
Folk forget the question mark. The song's title is 'God is dead?". Just saying :-/
God is real and alive
No
Great band! Great lyrics!
Geezers bass on this song punches u right in the mouth love it!
--This video is fine, but it doesn't say anything about Ozzy not singing the song.--
Thanks everyone for clearing that up for me.
Yes it does.
Conor Hill About where in the video?
Watch and listen to Geezer
Conor Hill Oops. Didn't realize it was less than two minutes long. Thought it was much longer. Still didn't hear it. Anyway. . .
Donald Miller It's there
Gene Simmons and Tony's barber is off the hook. When I get that old I'll seek him out for my black motorcycle helmet, as well.
PMSFL!!!!!
nitemareman1 bro comment of the year
Elijah Warrior do you listen to anything or do you just read the titles.
NOYA who are you responding to?
Bravo, bravo! Well said, I have felt that exact same way for 40 years and with that said, I am going to say thank you and move on so I don't keep on and on and on like the response I just discarded that was even longer than the one I'm replying to. Good day!
The open legend of ozzy kept it in
Good to hear even the gods are like, " we just jam around ,..and build it up"....
...god was never alive to be dead.
Hey, I'm guessing if you can be alive, so can God, right?
...no.
I get that it was a joke, but people really get confused by it. It's about Nietzsche's assertion that the concept of an all-powerful god is no longer necessary to explain or justify anything.
...sure, why not?
Steak, thin-cut, or freedom?
Said the avarage contemporary childish person who thinks atheism is a cool and new idea
JESUS CHRIST = every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that HE is LORD.
Geezer we love your lyrical talent man!!!!!!!
Thank you Artists. Your friends in the stars "Shine".
God is alive and well but so is satan. Choose this day who you shall serve...and who you will spend eternity with. For if you reject the Lord Jesus Christ, there remaineth no more sacrifice for your sins.
Well, it's official: Ozzy can't sing anymore.
why?
Anyone can say that God is dead but only one person can prove prove God is alive. Find out who that one person is and read the Bible because there is no book today that can prove that God is dead but there is one that can prove that God is alive
+Dan I don't think even you know what you just said there.
I don't even understand what you said there.
what are you even talking about? there are tons of books that disprove christianity. Read the God Delusion. Unless of course, you would rather stay in your perfect little world where jesus loves you and all is well.
+ClassicRock Guitar
The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.
Never been a Religious person since I read it.
Man there so badass man there all in black there legit the fathers of metal so sick I fucken love sabbath🤟
I misread the title as "we told Ozzy he couldn't sing", and was getting ready to say yes he can.
He is not!!!
NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY has the right to tell Ozzy what to sing.
You should all bow down and thank your maker that you're alive to hear this angelic voice. If Ozzy made a song "white people suck" i'd listen to it. (and i'm white)
*OZZY IZ GOD!*
BLASPHEMY!
OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!
actually, you're right on one account..Tony is definitely more level headed than Ozzy in his current state. Google the Ozzy/Howard Stern interview and you'll see how many people it takes to make sure Ozzy doesn't fall off the wagon.
However, to say he's a sellout and can't sing...you're tawkin' outta your ass pal! ;)
Our God is the Money and is praised by both Christians and Atheists. So you are all religious after all.
+Funk5Punk Wow, that was deep.
+John Joseph C deep like a puddle
+Funk5Punk Something forced onto you isn't a god.
+Mathieu Pharand But I do agree with your original comment, people find God...it isn't forced, but inspired, you could say, divinely
the opening to this song is so dark and great. Unlike the other 'old' bands who play old music, Sabbath makes new music
this song gives me chills...
666 likes... i'm just saying
Mephistolomaniac i believe that number has changed now...
Am I watching anime?
He can't sing that Bigfoot is dead either.
sparkymoo haha ripped outta my mind and laughed hard as shit hah
sparkymoo
Worst comparison I’ve ever read hahaha
Bigfoot's not dead. He looked into my window and I pissed myself.
Greatest Hard Rock Band to ever play! I sold my soul to Black Sabbath!
the real, true, one and only Black Sabbath = Tony and Geezer.
God isn't dead. Can't kill what isn't real. Faith in god is dying however.
Faith in God is dying everywhere? Where?
:)
You cannot say God is dead, because God never born.
nor existed
***** I know what I see and feel.
I see no God, I only can see people starving everywhere and people who have anything they want and preach God's will and other stuff.
God never existed for the poor, so God never existed for me too.
God only "exists" for the rich, who preaches about him and ignore "him" at the same time.
In the name of the God, humanity made wars and monstrosities like inquisition.
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." Steven Weinberg
By the way, this song is a masterpiece.
filippos maybe it's outside our five pathetic sense range
Tiocfaidh ár lá or he is inside your imagination or not ;)
filippos Man, You Atheists call Christians stupid and then you seem to make it your sole purpose to start these comment wars
tony iommi: ur watching anime.co
God is very much alive and lives within each of us.. although i am a bassist with sabbath influences from geezer and all.. i have a strong belief in God.
Love this song
