The shows ambiguous about "sin" because the idea of sin itself is so arbitrary and ambiguous, and the show started with reference to biblical lore because it's in part a direct commentary on that belief system. From the arbitrary definitions of sin to how Adam can act no different than the sinners in Hell do but seems exempt from the same consequences, to the fact that Charlie herself espouses truly christian beliefs of redemption and compassion but is ignored or belittled just because she happens to be the "wrong type of person". It's all commentary on religious, and specifically christian, hypocrisy.
The characters are coming at the idea of religious redemption with effectively the same knowledge that any of us in real life (that were raised in western culture at least) would have if it turned out heaven and hell were real; A general idea of things listed in the bible or said in sermons that are allegedly sins, but the shows already kinda showing that a lot of those ideas are all pretty much hogwash.

Clarus gets it. Nerdy is lost, and thinking way too much. Charlie wants to redeem her people, so they can go to Heaven, instead of their souls being erased in an extermination. Demons are extremely skeptical, since it has NEVER happened. Not explained is they are all in the Pride ring of Hell, so their sin is Pride. Adam, doesn't care about redemption, and hates sinners, Hell, and especially Lucifer for basically enticing both Lilith and Eve. He's jealous.
Their sin isn't necessarily pride, all sinners end up in and stay in the pride ring. In fact afaik Sinners are unable to get to the other rings at all.

I think what you are misunderstanding is that the people who truly love this show, are really tired of the average story telling that we get from every other show, particularly in most animation. HH subverts expectations at every turn and is interesting because of that in itself. Many of us actually enjoy the biblical and religious satire/commentary and I can't speak for everyone else, but omfg I am so happy they didn't rush right into prescriptive action sequences. And maybe this show just isn't perfectly made for you, that's cool, I'm happy you are getting whatever enjoyment you are getting from it!
I would say the episode makes much better sense in a full context...which to avoid spoilers, no one can give you. It does actually have a compact nature and delivers a lot of information, while moving plot forward meaningfully, all in a short period of time. Unfortunately, a LOT of info is contained in background conversation and images...almost 'encoded'...kind of like watching the 'Sixth Sense' and realizing how much was hinted in the background afterwards. I admit...i would have loved it if Amazon had aimed for a 22 epi season. I could watch this all day...but alas...they have only what they have to work with, and they paced well for the space that was available.
Nerdy, you need to let them cook. I would be shocked if you still felt the same way about this show after you finish the season. Can’t wait to see the journey though! So excited for ep 6!
Yeah there is a lot of "wait and see" stuff in the show. That I have seen multiple reactors question early on that are tackled later on in the show. Especially stuff about what "sin" or "redemption" actually mean.
I did hear that the season WAS intended to have a lot more episodes originally, which may explain some things
I really enjoyed the pacing of this show, personally. It's character driven so most of it revolved around Charlie's big dream and the people who bought into it to varying degrees, but there was always a rumbling in the background of an oncoming train approaching. When it arrived, I cared enough about the characters to hope they could get out of the way.
Last ep they touched on forgiveness. This episode was about trust. Charlie wanted them to trust each other and Vaggie's idea was to make them bond while fighting together. There's already fighting going on in hell so they popped over there for their trust exercise. I don't think there's a point in wondering why they're fighting other people when they want to get into heaven bc rn the trust exercises were the focus (and I don't think people in hell actually die when they kill each other, unless they're killed by angelic weapons).
I haven't seen the interviews myself but a lot of people seem to repeat the info that the season was originally meant to be more episodes but in the end amazon/a24 only gave enough budget for 8. So the season had to be restructured a lot which makes it feel a bit awkward when it comes to pacing.
Again though this on my part is just hearsay so if this is confirmed to be wrong please let me know.
Hopefully though given the success of the first season the 2nd season will be allowed to have more breathing room and gets additional episodes.
Ironically enough, the war zone thing worked for the people inside the Hotel better than anything Charlie planned lmao it gave us a glimpse of Angel Dust caring and actually going out of his way to help someone else (Sir Pentious), and for Pentious himself to come over and say "gee man, that was cool of you....thank you." Like I won't go onto spoiler territory, but it was proven later on that is a extreme, dangerous situation that proves how selfless Angel can be, which is actually important for the show since *vague gesturing* Charlie's first expirement.
The Egg Bois are "Artifical Demons." Basically, they were made, they aren't damned souls.
This show definitely has musical theater elements, but a musical, or any theater production, has to wrap up a story within a couple of hours. They've got time to cook. Just enjoy the ride and let it pay off and stop overthinking it. Just live in the space for a minute.
I think it's worth mentioning that most people in hell are betrayed and hurt all the time, so it would make sense they often shy away from hope or kindness, fearing a bad outcome.

Nifty being totally cracked for no reason is one of the best running gags in this show.
it not just only Charlie wants to redeem her people and nobody want that it no one belive it can be done. Demons are extremely skeptical. Heaven don't even know that siner can be redeem or not. Adam doesn't care and hates sinners

I think you guys nailed it. Stephanie Beatriz was cast for her Rosa voice but her singing voice is much closer to her natural register. Singing in an accent is apparently super hard unless you're a mutant like Alex Brightman. No idea how he manages to do whole songs in the Pentious voice 😂

If the eggboys were sinners they'd be allowed in the hotel if they showed an interest for redemption but they clearly don't. Still I don't think they're even sinners in the first place. They're artificial constructs, another of Pentious' invention iirc.

Like some people already said this was supposed to have way more episodes viv have issues (she said so herself) since she adds alot of characters and literally each one have complex stories that mix with the others...
So since this was cut to only 8 episodes there were alot of rushed stuff , alot yo unpack etc etc

Helluva Boss is finishing it's second season this year, i just wanted to spread the news on that because i am STILL excited after seeing the trailer for the 5 incoming episodes and i need somebody to geek out to! XD i'm sure that you'll dig Helluva Boss when you get there, but one thing at a time of course, Hazbin should have the spotlight for now.
as for me, i'm gonna go rewatch Helluva Boss as the next episode is dropping real soon.

I also saw your reaction to the Sonic movie 2 a few years back and I would love to see a reaction for that, considering the new Knukles tv show (only on Paramount plus) and the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 movie underproduction.
I do wonder if there was a way to merge this episode and the last episode.
yeah, episodes 2 and 3 are my least favorite in the series so I kind of get what he's saying! they are good episodes! But definitely feel like a bit of a slow start when compared to the rest of the season.
I don't think the one on the left quite gets this show, the plot is more centered around challenging the characters' and audience's preconceived notions. You don't know what the redemption that's being worked towards is because no one does, that's the whole point of the show. As you've probably seen in the later episodes, other than the season's storyline, the plot is about trying to figure out what exactly they're trying to do.

I really think this show suffers from its B plot (the angel being killed/war between Hell and Heaven) being far more interesting than its marketed A plot of sinners being redeemed. Although, i do wonder if that discrepancy is actually the point, and the theme that the show will expand upon in S2 is that the whole "sinners need redemption because heaven said so" idea is used to distract from the exploitative class structures in the afterlife and justify the literal extermination of the underclass
