Well, to be more specific, Geely bought 100% of Volvo's passenger car division in 2010, 51% of Lotus (Lotus) in 2017, 9.69% of Daimler AG and becomes Daimler's largest shareholder in 2018. And Lynk Co is an independent subsidiary from Geely, which is kinda like Acura and Honda, or Lexus and Toyota.
It's an honour to be given the opportunity to VLOG an auto production factory in China....How lucky indeed you're....
Geely is co producing with Malaysia proton car manufacturer to sell Geely models under Proton logo. Models in Msoa is X70 and lately the X50. Both are good sellets.

Actually Geely bought the whole Volvo passenger car business in 2010...

I think most new car company begining from copy that old car company，such as japan car from German or US，korea car from japan car。
now all Chinese car have their own designed car。
That is d nature of bznz gentlemen....anywhere in d world. No big deal. From sidewalk vendors to classy corporations , bznz ppol copy each other. Dats how they improve their bznz...always taking up d challenges of competition.

The company really take care of their people.
Geely bought Volvo and revived the Volvo brand. The Original Volvo XC90 was from 2003 and that model was NEVER redesigned. Geely bought Volvo which allowed Volvo to release a bunch of new models, and the first was the completly redesined XC90 in 2016. That was rated the best SUV in that price range and the safest car that u can buy. U should consider getting one Matt. :)
I'm thinking to buy a XC40 ,what do you think about that.
@@wumei4452 Watch the car reviews. Its a nice car but with all cars it all depends on what kind of car best fits u. The competition is strong this year one is the best the next year another one is, so watch the RUclips reviews, make a list of contenders and chose that way. TEST DRIVE THEM Take it to the highway and feel the cars that u are interested in. Always test drive.
Swedish cars are mediocre. Before or after bought by geely. Rented S90 when i was in sweden. Geez. Performance was terrible compared to similar german car. But it gets you there. So... if you don’t care much about car, then volvo is great. But if you’re into car, then it’s difficult to compete with the german or newer ev like tesla.
@@jkjkjk100 I'm a car guy and I'm someone that is really into the handling. Im considering the upcoming redesigned 2022 Subaru WRX to be my next car. I agree the Volvo's handling isn't as great as something like a BMW but not everyone is purely into the handling. Cars that handle well usually rides harder too its a tradeoff. Have u watched Hoovies garage? He's a big car guy and he is a fan of comfort rides. There are other factors to be considered. But their XC90 is their true crown and I have seen many popular car reviewers give absolutely excellent feedback on that from comfort to the overall handling (has an efficient supercharged and turbo charged combined engine that is 4 cylinder and makes 400hp). I haven't really looked into their other models though such as the s90 but BMW, Mercedes, and Audi all have released a whole bunch of new models in 2019 and 2020, its a competitive market. Personally I'd go with the German brand for all other models because its redesigned and handles even better than their previous models, but if I were to get an X5 price range SUV then I'd seriously consider the XC90 on the list.
@@zszs100 as a car guy myself, i went to the other side... tesla really do have great product. I switched from m4 to tesla model 3 performance and loved it and saved bunch of money un gas. Missed the sound though.

LOL you are underplaying it. Geely is one of the most sucessful Automaker Groups in the world right now. They have amazingly ability to properly manage foreign brands letting them thrive with minimal interference. Volvo, Polestar & Cyan are doing amazing work and did a 180deg under the hellish management of FORD. While Lotus has been given the resources to maximize their potential and built sector beating cars. In the Auto industry such turn around are amazing achievements.

Eric Pan geely bought Volvo at 2010, they can get what they want from Volvo
Geely, actually bought out Volvo Cars and they now also own Lotus Sports Cars and the London Black Taxi Cab Company and they also own 9% of Daimler the Mercedes Parent Company

Have you ever driven? heard or Lynk&Co? what's your thoughts on them?
Actually heard of Geely. They help turned around Volvo's failing auto business a decade ago. They kept all the Swedish staff and injected needed capital for innovation, while the old management were reluctant to. It's quite a success story of a Chinese/Swedish merger.
Not only heard of it, but My father-in-law actually bought a Lynk&Co 01 with my advice(I'm glad he ditched the VW option lol). It has a powerful engine with all kinds of new technologies you need. What's even better, in his first long drive after the delivery, the vehicle saved his life with its Autonomous Emergency Braking(AEB) system on highway. He really loves this vehicle.
We found it out six months later, It even comes with free life-time wireless network access, what a nice surprise!
I've seen Link&Co in a mall of Beijing, the real car looks cooler than the image and video, especially the tail design.

I tried Fish&Co before, the fish and pasta taste really good but a bit pricey..

The car factory is a nice place to work in. Gili island in Bali is pronounced as in Gilligan but without the "gan" .

They have a mini buffet in the cafeteria? Wow~that is daily meals? That's cool~
Huawei, Alibaba, Jingdong have the most amazing cafeteria among the Chinese companies. Geely's is just so poor compared to them.

they even provide Breakfirest, no just cafe, toast kind of things, like mini breakfast buffet .
The cafeteria food looks good but trust me tastes like shit.. very bland and made for the masses, so quality and taste isn’t the best... but it fills you up. Better to order delivery.
Oh come on, nyc has foodie scene. How can you not enjoy the food in NYC? It can get expensive but it’s really good.

To me the cost is what concerns me… yeah if you go out/order take out, ofcz you get better food…I can't afford to eat lunch out in NYC…company doesn't provide lunch. I have to pack my own… a simple cheap lunch special is around 10bucks… almost an hour pay. If I go to a foodie area, there goes my day's pay…
I support Geely, the founder and owner of the company that used to make shavers and batteries that now makes cars is a patriot ! Geely owns Volvo and the iconic London Cab Company and a few other brands now !

Very nice experience. It seems we do not have Geely available in North America.
US auto unions forcing US government for protectionism or else GM, Ford and Chrysler would go belly up ...North America is the only place where Chinese car brands are not allowed to enter. They will use silly excuses like they are not safe and all that BS !

Geely bought out Volvo is how it happened... I Believe they also currently own the largest equity stake in Daimler and are set to produce engines for Daimler.
We have a Geely brand here in Malaysia but rebranded by Proton our Malaysian National car. We call it X70. It's an SUV. Pretty good vehicle too. Our National cars are all rebrands of other car makes like Mitsubishi, Honda, and a few others and maybe one actual own Malaysian design. 🤣
Some buildings in Canada do not have 13th floor. Also, number 8 is a good number for Chinese. You can see many Chinese car owners with license plates containing number 8 as part of the numbers, the more 8 the better. I think in Hong Kong, a license plate with 888 is very expensive to get. Of course, license numbers with 4's is a no no.

You also partly answered a long-standing mystery of mine as to what's happened to the ghost towns widely reported in the West a few years ago.

Geely began life as Jili when motorcycles were king, but then when cars became the company’s focus, was changed to Geely.....which made it more vulnerable to mis-pronunciation, by English speakers.
