- Well this is another one of those videos where I need to make another video on elaborating how to make this rod. This rod is simply simple and works but needs a little more refining. Cheap bamboo from a hardware store and some old braid fishing line is all it takes to make it. Was also a great day out with lots of bush waking for me just to find the water. Thanks for watching liking and subscribing
Nice video bud good to see you again. You should do a video on how to build a tenkara rod, to that would be interesting. Thanks again my man.
thanks for stoppin by, ya i do need to make a video on how to make one just every time i try it don't pass testing.
Looks like a a lot of fun. I’ve thought about trying the same thing. I’ll have to definitely try it now.
its fun just have to get a good stick of bamboo thats the hardest part
Amazing!
Did that same experiente back in 2009 and was a bit skeptical at it.
Well, caught 12 fish on the bamboo stick while my friend using a fancy TFO rod caught only 2 😂
Needles to say from that day on i was completly sold to tenkara and never looked back to western fly rods!
nice, TFO are some goof rods or i should say tools just like the cheap stick. thanks for watching i have been cane polling since i was a kid.
😮nice bro
thank you
Next year I want to try making a tenkara rod out of a stick. The more primitive the better 😊 after watching people catch fish this way on the show “alone” I knew I had to try it.
it sure is fun and a simple way of doing things, but a real tenkara rod can do things more precise
Stick for a rod. Wading shoeless. What could be more different from the average well equipped Colorado trout fisherman! Go, Justin. 👍👍💪💪
I feel as though the stick maybe the way of the future but also the past... thanks john
👍🏻
Looks like great fun. Never seen a river with so much flow, wouldn't have believed that fish would live in it. By the way what does tenkara mean?
Thanks, this spot use to be the old river channel they moved it so now it's a ditch still hold good fish. Hmmm I think it means from the sky or from heaven, I just use the word cause it has people's attention to me this is just cane pole fishing like when I was a kid.
@@outdoorswithjustin Thanks for your response. Good luck.
@@tonycamplin8607 thanks for the luck
Nice video, what did you use as a bait ?
thank you, i think i was using a killer bug its a fly pattern that day
what size braid line did you use i want to make a diy Tenkara set up for small creek fishing
It was 15lb braid with 4x tippet. You can find better bamboo online than home depot.
Did you make a video of how to make your homemade Tenkara?
not yet, it has been hard to located some quality bamboo everything i have been finding seems far to dry and snaps at the joints.
@@outdoorswithjustin Ah okay, thanks for your quick respond. I would really like to try and make my own, but can't find anyone making a how to. Guess I gotta do some experiments myself, and that's not too bad when it hopefully succeeds
@leifdorphrasmussen3011 experiments are the best way, I get my bamboo from Lowe's or home depot like 6 bucks for 6 sticks it's a great project
"Flippy floppy" is always good.
thanks
Have you tried the entire flippy end of the bamboo?
Like the tiny stick without doing anything to it, I made a few test rod and discovered that 1/2 or 1/4 of a stick was more flexible than a whole stick. bamboo is great and a cheap resource to use.
@outdoorswithjustin I agree I'm making one now is why I was wondering.....it's actually a fly reel but was also going to make a tenkara rod out of it as well. Thanks for the great upload.
@@adams13f no problem, good luck with your build. homemade rods can be really nice.
This is awesome. What knots and line did you use?
just some hitches and a allot of wrapping on the handle, the line was braided 15lb but where the fly is is just 4x tippet.@@DrDitchpickle
Give ya $5 for that rod Man.🐊
haha that's a funny one. For that price you can buy 6 of them from lowe's in the garden section.
