27….feel the same way. I DESPISE what our society has become. People have been living on the land and they stopped living WITH the land. I know, that’s from Yellowstone, but it’s true. We lived so simply for thousands of years and now we eat food that’s genetically altered and/or “lab grown”….sickness and obesity is getting worse each year because of it. Sometime soon, society is going to reset……and the only way to survive through it is to strive for that self sufficiency factor. I could go on and on….sorry for the long comment. I’m just passionate about this lol.
24 and I agree with you and the previous comments. A connection with nature is my desire. My spirituality. But I have to play the money game until I can be where I truly long to be. Not too far to go, but still feels like a lifetime away.
I'm 53 years old, female, disabled, work from home making under $20/hour. I have worked for over 4 years to get my credit score up and to pay off all the loans I THOUGHT I would need for purchases I ThOUGHT I would need.... and FINALLY... here I am. I close on June 26th. I'm stoked! On my 1 acre, there is a 1 bedroom building. It used to be a church, but the beautiful lady selling to me turned it into her rental property. On one side of the house sits a small plot of oak trees. I will use that area as my animal location...goats, chickens... ya know. :) Around the other side of the house, I'll build my garden. I'm going to buy my first ever riding mower for this... a MZ Rambler, Bad Boy Mowers. I can't wait til end of June! I'm so excited!
Im 33 married with 2 kids. Aged 7 and 3. We just bought 3.2 acres of land in remote northern maine. We want to homestead. We are right on a stream. So beautiful being out in nature. Have trout in the stream, black bears and white tail deer. Life is good.
Im 19, but iv ben looking into homesteading and homemaking for a couple years now! I want to set myself on the right path now so that by the time i am ready to get married and have kids, i can focus on building that up and taking care of my family rather than playing catch up. I also dont want to feel as if i cant have have kids or a large family simply because of the cost of putting food on the table. if im able to build up a fruitful home, that will be less of an issue because i would b relying on my on productivity and harvest rather than the government and economy.
I’m a 26 y/o truck driver, looking into buying land and starting my own homestead. My grandfathers dream was to have a farm and raise his own meat due to the fear of all the chemicals being put into store bought food. He passed when I was 13 and lately I’ve been wanting to live out his dream. This helped so much!
Whats up driver, I'm looking to start a homestead as well but I'm just not sure how to get into this while trucking, are you planning on doing local driving to be home everyday to take care of your land? Or are you just gonna get out of trucking and find something else to do for money?
Coming up on 32 and going from living a Portland Metro lifestyle to a ranch further west in the mountains? I find it more enjoyable than dealing with the daily traffic of I-5. The passive aggressive people. The stress of wondering if I can afford eggs. Investing my time to learn these skills has already paid off and im excited to see how far I can go. Going back to ye olden ways as you can say is... enlightening. You appreciate life more, at least I do.
Im 17 and looking into buying a house in 2028-29. I love cooking so naturally I picked up gardening for better vegetables. I don't have a lot of space currently at my parents house, so hopefully the house me and my two friends agree on has a couple acres of open space. Gonna cost a fortune but definitely worth it. Wish me luck boys and girls 🙏
@@jameschristaldi4021 I'm 16 and I want to grow vegetables, berries and herbs. I want to have chikens and sheep at some point too, honestly finding a home seems really intimidating cause I'm studying to be a seamstress and that line of work doesn't pay much unless you become famous. Glad to find other young people with similar goals tho
I am a newly single (10 years) 65 year old lady and planning a small scale homestead so I can afford to live on my limited retirement income. Thank you for these questions. I found I have answered most of them for myself already. But it's good to see I am going in the right direction. Thank you!
Love the video. I’m a Four time Combat veteran that’s looking to start a homestead. I’m moving to Texas where I will have 25 acres on my property and I’m looking grow my own vegetables and possibly some chickens and goats. But I love the advice you gave in this video
Thank you for making these! My partner and I bought a property (Small, only an acre) out in rural Alberta. We have our 2.5 year old daughter, 2 dogs and 2 rabbits and have slowly been trying to build our homestead. Excited to add some chickens soon and harvest our food! Trying to slowly learn all that I can to make us successful and I am so glad that I found your channel today. Thanks again!
I crave getting out of the chaos in the cities. I'm glad I was able to secure the land. Now, it's time to transition to a more peaceful and fulfilling life!
Very valuable information given in this video. I appreciate you bringing up questions that I didn’t even think about. It gave me more to think about when selecting my next move 😊 thank you.
I am in a suburban area. Here we can have six chickens, rabbits and quail are not regulated. I grew up on what we called a hobby farm, with about five or six acres. the life my parents were able to provide for my sister and I was wonderful. I know in my heart i want to do the same for my kids, but we will have to move out of our current state if we want to afford to do so. As of right now, I believe if I can be successful doing things small scale in my suburban garden, steward the home I've been provided, and do my best to learn all I can, that an opportunity will present itself. If not, I still did my best with what I had at the end of each day, and that's what matters.
You got yourself another subscriber. Great video! I'm thirty-five and this is pretty much what I would like to do. I worked in the healthcare industry and so at least for the time being, I'm going to have to start off slow. Being self-sufficient is the goal
Charles Dowding in England had a flourishing no dig business on about a fifth of an acre. His videos are a real wealth of knowledge. I'm 56 now and have bought a former farm that is 12 acres. How do you like the jersey giants. I was thinking about raising them barred rocks or rhode island reds.
We are seniors and see the direction of our country. We are considering homesteading to meet our needs. Would you suggest we pursue this idea. We are pretty healthy.
How did you afford to get land though? What type of loan? Was it just for land or did the loan account for potential income you’d get from your first farm then homestead plan?
Hi community: during lockdown we bought an 8.5arc Amish old horse ranch with the idea of homesteading. So far weve just been clearing land and focusing on house but now we want to "start" any tips?
I’ve been thinking about getting into homesteading when I purchase property in a few years. I want to be able to produce food that doesn’t make me sick like store-brought so I can know what goes into it. I want at most 3 horses, a flock of chickens, a couple of feeder pigs and cows, and a pond for fishing. Would 10 acres be enough for that or should I look for more space?
Keep making videos of your homestead 🤙🙏🐦. I appreciate the knowledge and wisdom. Lol I enjoy the most of your video is when you give them leftovers 🤣 watch them go crazy picking out rice or corn to eat. Great stuff and I plan in the near future like 2026 to have a 5 or 8 acres. I plan on having pigeons & chickens in different pens.
9 yeas ago my wife and I financed our house (with 5 acres) using the VA (Veterans Affairs) loan. We financed the property for $220k. We still have a while to pay on it.
I'm 20 I hate cars, and hate the city, I just want a place where I can make money on my own and get away form modern post 90's bullshit, to do with jobs and social issues
Vegan 7 years, just recently went back to animals but I’m going to local farms not the supermarket and want to slowly move to having my own set up. Enough land to practice for now and hope to one day have a legit homestead set up.
I literally don't know. I've talked to friends and mentors about it. I'm doing the same stuff other people are doing. I'm just crediting God for the increase. :)

To anyone who wants some free information or guidance, as someone who has had chickens in the city and out in the country, if you don’t want or aren’t allowed a rooster, a great alternative is a Goose! They are great protectors, very territorial, and loud when a predator is around. ❤ hope this helps! YALL have a great day!
I wish there was an opportunity to try this out before making this kind of investment. It sounds amazing but reality can be a great wake up call especially if you are a city girl.
