- Overnight train from Majuli Island back to Guwahati. From here I hitchhiked to Shillong Meghalaya to visit my very last state for this NE India trip. Apart from Arunachal Pradesh, where Chinese passport holder are not allowed to visit, and Mizoram, I have visited 5 states in a month. Totally enjoyed every minute in NE India and mesmerized by its diversity, cuisine and their cultures!
第五次的印度行，从阿萨姆搭车去了梅加拉亚邦 Meghalya 首府 Shillong西隆，路遇一个同路的南印小哥。说好一起搭车，没车时立马要单飞。最后看到带着性别红利的我秒上了一辆车，又马上墙头草来蹭。下车后抛弃哥们还是一个人独行。梅加拉亚整个邦在一块高地上，气候宜人，有很多英属印度时期留下来的殖民风建筑。曾经被英国人视作印度的小苏格兰。

There were waves of Chinese people who had migrated to Shillong which was back then the capital of the undivided Assam Province, between the 1870s till 1920s from Southern China in the Hakka region. They started many small business in the city from Beauty Parlors to Shoe Making, Dentists & Chinese restaurants. Till date descendants of them are still living in the city but many families have now immigrated to Canada & Australia.
I heard about it, but didn't find any Chinese descent during my trip. Do you know the names of the restaurants in Shillong that is still run by the Chinese population there?
@@MasterJin Some are still proper Chinese & some are descendants of Chinese who intermarried with the local Khasi people. A few are cloud kitchens as well.

Personally I feel closer to Chinese than Indians,We had Chinese neighbours back then,they adapt to our way of life most of them can speak khasi fluently and we accepted them by prefixing kong and Bah to their names,they don't intrude in local affairs ,their hygiene is way way better than immigrants from mainland,they are open minded and their food is excellent ,especially during Chinese New year we had loads of fun...

Shilong ,nagaland , Manipur, and tripura etc has similar faces like koreans, Chinese Japanese and Thailand.Love North East India 🇮🇳🔥😭😭 we love North East India.
Assam and Tripura are not Chinese, Assamese is an Indo Aryan language, and there are 10 million Bengalis living in Assam, in Tripura ethnic Bengalis are also the majority, the native population of Assam is not similar to Chinese people

Meghalaya native khasi people and Garo don't look like Chinese they are more resemblance to people of Southeast Asia, whereas Nagas,Mizos and Arunachalis are more resemblance to Chinese

you didnt went to the chinese cave ? it located in wahlang east khasi hills only like 60 or 70 kms from shillong. during world war 2 chinese use the cave as a camp or something else idk exactly but it is there.
